Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, (Hong Gil Dong played by Lee Je Hoon) and the movie are definitely worth a watch! For me, it reminded me strangely of a beautiful version of Batman. Hong Gil Dong's mysterious past unfolds as the story goes on to a soundtrack that will keep you on the edge of your toes. If you like any action kmovie then this is definitely worth a watch.

As a fan of crime and detective stories, I expected this movie to be either dark or sullen. Since I have not seen the trailer beforehand nor read its synopsis, I was visibly perplexed. But within 6 minutes, a splash of graphic novel and a grinning Gil Dong eventually revealed its offbeat vibe.
The film may evoke a dark and miserable noir-like mood of Sin City but the genre is contrary to read more its visual aesthetic. It's quite light, warmhearted and "cute" beyond belief. I would have categorized this in the family genre, but the excessive use of guns at the end crosses it out of that list.
Lee Jee Hoon's acting intensity was not as strong as Kim Sung Kyun but if the intention was to keep the protagonist still lovable despite his sad and dark past, I'd say his performance was jjang! And how can I forget the smarty pants Kim Ha Na(Mal Soon), who shook the protagonist solitary milieu? Her little ways to antagonize Hong Gil Dong was finger cringing and amusing.
Overall, this movie is surprisingly worth watching, especially this holiday season. A time when I want to feel all warm, happy and fluffy. *dreamy

    Definitely has a Sin City feel - I very much enjoyed it. The little girls are priceless, & so is Lee Je Hoon :D

      For goodness sake :( She's not in it that much and does a fine job in the small part she has. Sheesh.

    It's not a bad movie, the 2 little girls give it a fun and lighter note, Lee Je Hoon does his job well too. However in general I found it a bit boring. The dramatic moment was hardly there, it just didn't grab you. At least with the 1st hour, after that it got more interesting and leaves off with a emotional ending. All in al a fine movie, but thats it. Fine nothing more nothing less.

    As much as I adore Lee Je Hoon, this drama bores me, I fell asleep a couple of times honestly.

    hmmm...I'm out of the loop on this one. I am a big fan of Sin City and have watched it several times. I won't watch this again. Was it my mood? I don't know but I just could not build a connection with the story on this one. Love the actors, Le Je Hoon is a big favorite and him being in anything means I'll be watching. The kids were adorable. And Kim Sung Kyun was scary bad. But the actual story was just ho hum for me. It felt disconnected or choppy or something. From the first moment I just could not get interested in what was going on and kept pausing and coming back to finish. Nice to look at for sure, tho the cinematography doesn't compare with Sin City, it was still good.

    Finished it some time ago, but til now I can't forget how beautiful this movie was! Super underrated, I love the setting so much! The effects were great as well, it really looked like a movie that came straight from a manga ;; Been following Lee Je Hoon since his BL film "Just Friends?" hehe ;;

    Great Movie! The set sort of reminded me of Lemony Snicket's A series of Unfortunate Events.
