Mochizuki Kotaro is a mild-mannered, unmanly high school student. One day, he visits a library and meets the mysterious librarian Himiko, who recommends to him an ancient book about a heroic general from the Sengoku period 400 years ago. Kotaro notices that he has the same name and age as the general described in the book, and he experiences a flashback... Kotaro later mentions the book to his father, who tells him read morethat he may be the descendent of a powerful samurai. At that moment, Kotaro receives a message from his childhood friend Ai telling him that their classmate Nakamura Tsuyoshi is in trouble. He rushes to the scene but doesn't have the guts to help, until another flashback transforms him into a samurai! --Tokyograph

Entertaining drama especially if you are a fan of Miura Haruma. He plays a double character here and it's good enough to see the shifting of characters from a student to samurai and actually it's the highlight of the series. It's the kind of show you may want to watch to be entertained when you are bored and nothing to do and if you want a light drama. I may re-watch it read more but maybe not alone but with friends or family members. I really recommend this for Haruma Miura fans for you to see another side of his acting. You can learn a thing or two as well.

The drama is a surprise to me! Positively. I saw Miura Haruma is some roles and I'm sure he is versatile actor. He plays the split personality... I like the moments when Kotarou changes in the wild samurai and starts talking strange speech.

What is more, the action is great too. There are only mysterious rulers. They must be steel if they are never destroyed..

Same vibe, similar setting with lessons about being true to oneself and some kickass fighting.
They both have male lead who are confused about their future, female lead who strives to be perfect and a guy friend who's timid.

i'm thinking twice if i should post this. Well, both are high school dramas. the only other similarity i can see is that the main characters are being possessed. Haruma is possessed by a samurai and Shiori by his father.

I would definetly recommend this to anyone. It's light, funny and doesn't exhaust you so to speak.Miura Haruma is great as always, portraying the character to its fullest. So if you want to break out from all those melodramas and laugh a little Samurai Highschool is the best de gozaru!

I found this drama to be hilarious! Especially how Kotaro (as a samurai) speaks to and treats the women haha. And his facial expressions are priceless.

Is it just me, or does Miura Haruma get exponentially hotter whenever he is "taken over" by the samurai dude? I was so shocked! I really like that hair too ^_^ And his arms...

I like it too. Miura's comedy looks silly because it's over-the-top, but you really have to keep in mind that he's playing TWO characters, and on that level he does really well. Also, it looks corny, but to do so consistently, the director and actors have to have a lot of conviction, and it does that without being too much. You can tell they meant to do it. It's supposed to look like the comic book it came from. It's definitely a style that isn't for everyone, but I can't accept the evaluation that it wasn't done well.

great one to watch when you want to relax. It has funny moments, a bit serious ones and so on. But I was a bit disappointed with ending. I thought it could be more complex.

Watched the first 15 minutes or so and was instantly disappointed. The actors were very very bad....it looked so fake that it made the story seem even more fake so decided to not watch it.

If you only watched the first 15 minutes, then how can you tell whether the rest of the series was good or bad?
It's your choice of course, and the series isn't for everybody, but it sounds to me like you didn't even give it a chance.
Another thing I found funny was that your post is dated December 1969. Half of the main cast wasn't even born then.
