Both dramas are tearjerkers! but very good with strong leading actors and actresses who portray people who are trying to deal with the past.

This story is also very sad and the ending is somehow similar. The lovestory, like in sorry i love you, is pure and true.

Both of the shows main characters learn and have to deal with their impending death. It's an interesting comparison to see the two different approach each character takes before dying.

-Both REVENGE ROMANCE MELODRAMAS, where male lead takes revenge on family (direct family & family-in-law respectively)

- Both have a leading male actor whose acting is AMAZING! (Green Rose: Go Soo. ISILY: So Ji Sub)

-I'm Sorry I Love You is better (10/10!) , so it's better to watch Green Rose first, other way around may feel like a step-down, especially GR male lead's trauma might seem very light in comparison to the trauma of ISILY male lead's.

-ISILY has a more sympathetic/tragic male lead than GR
-ISILY is more romance-focused & the love story MUCH better
-GR is slow-paced, while ISILY has a much better pace/doesn't drag or bore you

It's the Chinese movie remake from 2014. Follows the same plot, he's seeking revenge on the mother who abandoned him. Falls in love but he's only got so long to live. It is a movie so there will be a lot missing and may be rushed.

the leads in both film confess their feelings, make up for their mistakes and try to use the remaining time well after they know that one of them has a terminal illness.

Gomen, Aishiteru is the Japanese version of I'm Sorry, I Love You. In my opinion the Japanese version is better. And Nagase Tomoya is great!

In both the main theme is love and death and deep questions about life. They are deeply sad and touching dramas. Both are written by Lee Kyung Hee.

they are both writer lee writings...this is also a revenge genre - even though this time the lead seeks revenge from his mother - both are emotionally outstanding - and both have pure love stories

Sorry is an intense revenge melodrama with a touching love story. So Ji Sub is a handsome romantic, as is Ji Sung in Secret.

both are amazing dramas. very sad though, with the innocent heroines and gangster guys. both will leave you emotionally disabled after each episode. love stories in both are very deep and meaningful. definitely give both a watch!
