This one derailed pretty quickly. It just happened I was in the right mood for what this film was. And I can only blame myself for not reading and understanding the description clearly. Or was it luck? I might not have watched it otherwise and I'm happy I did.

At first my reaction was WTF *ugh* will I really be able to watch this? However I came to realize that what usually annoys me about Taiwanese humor was very delicately directed. I started to enjoy myself and have to admit that I was taken by the story and surprised at the end.

Lovely colors, dramaturgy and cinematography. Good production value, nice music and audio design. The actors are pretty good because the directing is wonderful!

The story seems like a really normal romance by the synopsis, but really it is a fantasy with action scenes, comedy and confusion. I generally thought the story was a bit weird at first. There are various things in it that will really confuse you, but all things become clear by the end.
Basically this tells the story of Si Ying, who gets a job in a coffee shop because her crush goes there often. While working in the coffee shop she meets another guy named Ah Tou, who she thinks is a weirdo and pervert (because he is wearing a bikini, carrying around a cabbage and roller blading). Eventually the 2 become friends because of constantly meeting each other in different situations and being able to talk to one another freely.
I liked this movie because it was light-hearted and not one of those tear jerkers!
The cast did well and made the characters interesting. There were a few good ballads in the movie that made some scenes more emotional. I probably wouldn't watch it again because even after all the weirdness is explained, I prefer less quirky movies.
Watch if you want something light-hearted and fun, but keeps you guessing and waiting for the ending.

First time watching a movie with no whatsoever expectations as the casts are all unfamiliar to me except Vivian Chow. Turned out had so much fun watching the story unraveled despite the nonsensical plot involving fantasy-like angel theme. The actings of the casts were great and the chemistry among them was natural that even Boss Bao the so-called "gangster wannabe" ex-director character managed to provide numerous funny scenes along side the MCs.

Seriously though my first thought after 10mins into this movie was whether I want to continue watching it since I felt as if I was being thrown into a messed up, weirded out plot not knowing what to expect especially when the male MC appeared dressed up in bikinis, carrying a cabbage and on roller skate. I am glad I stayed put as I really enjoyed the simple romance journey between the MCs on learning what is love and crushes and having the courage to love and wishing happiness for the one you love. This movie is silly, weird, candid but tells the story of simple, pure love. I especially like how the romance story of the cafe owner being revealed and the relation with the MCs.

I was browsing through some movies similar to Our Times and I stumbled upon Café. Waiting. Love. Vivian Sung was the main character so I was excited on watching it. The start was so-so, it wasn’t that boring but it wasn’t that great either.

As you go on to the movie, it starts to get more and more sweeter. The romance starts. The “so-called” mystery starts. The sad scenes start. And it gets a whole lot better. To be honest, I underestimated this movie at first. But I was surprised that this movie even had a plot twist... and also some unexpected fantasy hehe.

Recommended for you who needs some light romance with sweet but-not-cringey scenes! Overall, an 8.5/10 ⭐️
