So I past on this drama before when I was newer to dramas because I read a large amount of negative reviews and also the only person I knew in the cast was Han Chae Young and she wasn’t worth getting me to give it a chance. In the last couple months I've become familiar with Song Il Gook and even Han Go Eun. Recently I was looking to watch an intense drama so I decided to give the first episode a shot to see if it was bad as everyone was saying…

Story- I was surprised by how engrossed with the leads and the plot I was right from the start. I liked that the revenge started from the getgo and you didn’t have to wait for exciting things to happen. It remained engaging right up till the disappointing ending. There many plot wholes and I wanted a solid close to the romance. Speaking of this big romance that is suppose to make the main character change his ways, I wasn’t satisfied with the way they wrote it. The leads had few scenes together and they weren’t even that romantic. SIG’s character had more romantic scenes with the other 2 female lead characters. Even though the ending and the romance disappointed me, the writers did a great job of keeping me glued to the screen.

Acting- Song Il Gook’s character was a man of few words but his looks were definitely fitting of his character. He was really perfect as Michael King/Peter Pan/ Choi Kang Ta. Han Chae Young did a great job with what she was given. Towards the second half she had fewer and fewer scenes. They both had amazing chemistry though. The acting by the other main leads was perfect because their tortured characters were very believable. Han Go Eun was really really good. Some of the acting by supporting characters was questionable though..

Music- I really liked the score it heightened the scenes well. When it was suppose to be intense it was. The OST was good for the drama but not enough to listen to outside the show.

Rewatch- I would watch this again because it was an exciting watch but because I didn’t like the end I wont be watching it for a while.

Overall, this drama could have been better but I think its pretty good and definitely worth watching if you like exciting action dramas or if you’re a fan of Song Il Gook.

I loved this drama from the start. The action started right from the beginning and the main Character Michael King was "oh sooo cool". just the way I Iove my main man. I guess most people would either love it or hate it. It's an entertaining drama if you don't take it too seriously but won't like it if you want something deeper. Like watching an Korean version of the old James Bond Movies. I for one absolutely loved it. Song II Gook is so incredibly hot , definitely eye candy treat for me. Will be looking for other dramas by him. Main couple could have had more romantic scenes together, that's my only issue.

I liked Song Il Gook and even Han Go Eun, together it was great acting.

Story- the movie started with a bang, it was revenge from the start and it was exciting. Great fight scenes. I was disappointed that the lead had few love scenes together, and the story line seemed to have a lot more scenes with the song Il Gook.

Even though they were together in the end I still think it could have been better and that the ending was rushed as too much time was spent on other matters that we trivial at the time.

Song Il Gook’s character was a man of few words and he definitely played his part very well.He was really perfect as Michael King/Peter Pan/ Choi Kang Ta.

Overall it was a good drama worth watching.

A man called God is a pretty cool action drama but it struggles with some huge issues. One major flaw is that despite the obvious big budget involved in making this drama, they weren’t consistent with the standard they created for themselves therefore making the flaws in this drama more obvious and damaging. Even some of the cast acting were bad or inconsistent. For example there was this “American” FBI agent whose acting seems top notch at first and then a scene arrives where he meets Micheal on the street and the acting so obviously sucked. He is later shown again with some quality acting. I believe part of this problem here lay with the director and scriptwriter though.

Then there’s the casting itself. I don’t think Micheal was the perfect cast for this role but I think he did ok overrall. He does have the face of an avenger and looks mean when he needs to but the problem is he looks mean/too serious most of the time including times when he may not mean to. Like when he’s being a cool flirt, or acting as a gentle man. He just comes off as a bit too serious most of the time. And it seems the script wright isn’t knowledgeable in the “cool flirt/player boy” area because he/she was too dependent on cheezy cliché stuff like the “catching the girl when she’s falling/beating up bad guys to save her” type of tricks to make Micheal the “smooth” guy character. Using such techniques is understandable and ok but the way it is executed in this drama doesnt pull off quite well. The scriptwright & probably director as well, certainly need lessons from movies like Batman or dramas like Bad Guy or Que sera sera or maybe real smooth guys in action because the cheesiness in this drama can be a bit overwhelming lol. That being said there are other noticeable minor faults contained in this drama but still these “minor” faults eventually add up and take a toll on what could have been a perfect 10/10 drama bringing it down to like a 7/10 or so.

On the good side of things the big budget in this drama does pay off and you get to see alot of cool things and eye candy characters (well maybe not a lot but a fair enough amount). And I sorta liked the overly fancy hairdo’s, the action scenes were cool enough and I definitely enjoyed the Oceans 11/Batman part of things here. So if you liked those two movies then this drama is for you just as long as you don’t let its minor faults get to you. *Bibian, would you marry me?? I can’t live without you!* Lolz XD (“Bibian” is kinda like an inside joke if you’ve seen this drama lol)

This drama has some draw (Song Il-kook’s muscles for one), but not enough to keep many watching. I’m really curious though, has anyone watched this one all the way through without any fast-forwarding? The main characters are just odd and stilted and very one-dimensional, the plot convoluted and distracting and I didn’t really care about what happened to everyone in the end. The only reason to watch this drama would be for potential parodies.

While ''A Man called God'' has been in my list for ages to watch, I never really got to watch it until weeks ago. I just barely finished it by today and I wasn't impressed by it at all and the series felt like a complete waste of my time with a mix of several series, but in a poor performance.

The story of the series was executed poorly and was often very predictable in outcome. Such wealthy CEO's, despite being greedy, would never fall for such easy and clear tricks. It also missed the points completely and could've been much shorter than the 24 episodes it currently was. The acting scored even lower as there was barely any chemistry between any of the actors and neither of them were unable to display their emotions in a realistic way.

The only plus point was that the music of the series itself was quite enjoyable and I'd definitely would never re-watch it again.

A Man Called God (2010) - roller coaster ride with this drama because of how the character developed through time and also how the revenge plot should be. Since it is 24 episodes, it felt so long watching this (*I usually watch 16-20 episode korean dramas). I think there are a lot of fillers, the characters are also a lot, which my brain can't really handle. It has a lot of unbelievable tactics to it, as well as plot holes. I didn’t like the ending as well, I don’t think I hate the drama since I enjoyed some episodes of it. The action scenes are great, and since Song Il Gook is also the main actor, which I am very curious as an actor since I only seen him in Return of Superman. His role here is perfect for him, and though he has little lines/script, I find him really in par with his character as Choi Kang Ta/Peter Pan. The ending was disappointing for me, I still had remaining questions as to what really happened. I think it was not wrapped up beautifully.

There were a lot of parts I liked watching this drama. Song Il Gook is fun to watch in Crime Squad so I checked this one out and finished it in a weekend. But there were things I didn't like: When a show is cheesy I like it to be aware of its cheese factor. I don't think this show was exactly aiming in that direction but there it went. I also like a lot of sci fi and I am able to suspend disblief a lot. (Watching Kdramas sort of perfects that skill) But sometimes I found myself saying...What?! I still like Song Il Gook though..He was kinda Bad *ss in this.

Every after episode I can’t wait to see the next one being anxious to know the next event. I’m just so amazed on how the story went on with all the scenes every episodes being a”make believe story”. Don’t get me wrong...I like the story. I love the character of Michael King/Peter Pan/Choi Kang Ta, however it’s too much of a fairy tale or make believe how he appears on every situation that is unbelievable. Well...the title says it all. I wish the change of scenes are a bit more believable and convincing for me to really enjoy the show. Story was good...it’s just that deliberation of the acting, places and events threw me off. Overall, it’s an okay drama. Great performance for Song I’ll-Gook.

For me this is a half/half recommend. Being from 2010 dose not bother me like some of the older shows. Its just that the plot is so-so with parts that you know are going to happen and bits that never do. I watched this for the 2020 Challenge and it popped up on my Netflix. Other than that I never heard of this drama before.
Positive reasons to watch:
-First- Choi Kang Ta is just eye candy. He has steamy eye and lost his shirt a bunch. So if thats your thing then you need to watch this show. Plenty of other characters use their sexy 'bits" to deceive people. Could be the most I have seen in a show as it happens over and over again.
- The spy gear is really funny. This is more of a James Bond- has a whole team with cool stuff to use and can't be defected. Choi Kang Ta is not an " underground drug kingpin" and of you watch it thinking "oh this will be more mob-ish". He is a high lvl killer, businessman, has a bunch of money- billions and billions. At no point is anything about him and drugs said. He will use the best guy for a job but he is not a criminal that way. Explosive CDs- enough said.
-The plot moves on track without a lot of filler, everything in there is for a reason. The acting is good.
- You will end up sympathizing with then villain more as the show progresses.
-The fights are good. It feels like a drama with in a drama by how the action is shot; very shaky and quick camera movement. For me it felt like by moving the camera, they were improving the fights- and I wish we could just view it. Choi Kang Ta is great at pulling of the fights against everyone. The people he fights are great- this is from a comic book, which explains why there are so many bodyguards there for him to crush. My fav- Cobra man- leather pants wearing, no shirt wearing, spikes and chains wielding a whip/ snake thing. You can't beat that look and I need him to be in there more.
Negative reasons:
- His hair is weird when they style it as a up and down look- just down and pony are fine!
-Don't watch if you like horses - The turning point in how I viewed a character.
-I don't like the over use of people that happens. They are not "evil" nor dose Kang Ta have a reason for them over and over again deceived them like that. Its hard to see full up and down body shots/zoom in just to express "oh they are sexy and trying to use their body to get something".
-Everyone is waving guns and pointing them in each others face but they never just pull the trigger, like an useless prop. The girl cop gun is the worst! No cop would use that gun- impractical.
- If your looking for a Romance- Just run away, not worth your time. It might as well be a side plot. "His beliefs are shaken when he falls in love with a reporter named Jin Bo Bae" I disagree- His beliefs are shaken by betrayal, death and his family. Han Chae Young dose a great job of acting like BoBae but I don't believe she has personal growth. Her role is strong at the start but at the end for me she's just a supporting role for Kang Ta's emotions. Jang Mi is a much more of a strong role as she is a completely different person at the end. Even Vivian has more growth than the female lead.
-The end- your just glad that you made it, but you don't care if anyone is dead or alive or together or happy lol
