I'm on a rewatch (the last time I watched…

I'm on a rewatch (the last time I watched this show was back on DramaFever RIP and I needed to remember where I left off) and so I already know that I'm going to stick with it. It's interesting to dig through this again in 2021. It's a decent starting point for a very lighthearted comedy of errors -- a character who cannot live as a girl due to a terrible fortune teller, a child who saves the life of a triad boss, etc. It's a little corny, but not in a way that I found terrible to watch and it sets the scene pretty well to the point that I want to watch more.

Chen Baron's hair is so wowza! *_*

This is my first time seeing anything with Chen Baron in it, and his hair blows me away! It's just so amazing. Oh, I foresee a super actor crush coming on this guy. Yeah, I agree with Pi Ya Nuo's girl cousin and male friend that Du Zi Feng (actor Chen Baron) exudes yumminess.

This is probably one of the best start up episodes for a gender bender that I've ever seen! I love that it didn't waste anytime and smoothly introduced all the players and the circumstances. Bravo! I think this is going to be a beautiful, and fun, obsession. I adore gender benders! I also love that the girl was raised as a guy from the get go. So she can take care of herself and is already super outgoing. The conventions of being a woman are left behind. Not to mention that actress Lai Megan shockingly is one of the more convincing crossdresser I've seen for the gender bender genre.

The best part is that the story is set with older characters. Pi Ya Nuo is going to be turning 26 soon. I love that it won't be taking place in high school. Even better this has gangsters!!!! Oh, my goodness. To of my favorite genre tropes in one.

So in my mind: gender bender + gangsters = awesome fun times

Coolest thing is the way the LOOOOOOOVE story is being setup. So they can synchronized fight together. Ba-bump! One believes in giving for being helped and the other for helping and not receiving. Oh, tangled ideals. Ba-bump. Pi Ya Nuo needs some to set her heart a flame so that she will want to become a woman in 99 days. Enter sexy wind blown hair. Ba-bump. Sexy shooting times--with some minor gun safety and where to point it (no that was not a sexual innuendo)--that totally means they have to get up close and personal. Ba-bump. Du Zi Feng was saved by a girl when he was younger and he wants to *wink* pay back his dept. Why who could that girl be that he still has the beret? Ba-bump. Accidently dancing together and then the ACCIDENTALLY KISSING!!!! *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*

Oh! This is gonna be fun.

The Great and the Ugly

Wow Woooah Eek! This episode started fine and then drew me in. The acting was good, the chemistry was wonderful but the closing was ... a little corny but not enough to put me off the next episode.

The female cast were good, effusive but not too the point of annoying like in alot of Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese shows.

Gave a 8 because this opening episode did what it was suppose to do, draw the audience in and keep us wanting to watch.

Mixed feelingd indeed.

Oh. My. God. The CRINGE!
Okay, okay. Don't get me wrong, I was looking for something - anything - resembling Coffee Prince and stumbled across this. And After the first episode I DO want to want to watch more, really.
I like the actors (the families of the leads are simply amazing, seriously!) and the leads themselves are interesting as well (and I really can't take my eyes off of the hair on the main guy... like, seriously, does he always stand with the wind on purpose? I have never seen hair to be so perfectly fluttery and yet perfectly shaped in my life, I reckon).
But. BUT. The CRINGE. The person that wrote the review above me said they had to watch the ending from behind a pillow. No shit. My skin nearly crawled off of me and I'm no stranger to corny cliche.
And the other thing I have a problem with - this whole thing really was just so forced... The coincidences, the sworn brothers thing (and not just a normal ones... bloody mafia ones!) I mean, common!
So do notice that with such cringy factors this drama is still pretty interesting and worth the watch I think.

What did I just watch and why do I want to watch more?

Okay. That wasn't quite what I was expecting from the shows summary.. but I don't know why I like it or not.
Firstly the good points; I like the music, it's very cute. The leads are hot, another bonus to the casing directors...
The sister and mum of the main guy are hilarious. I'm interested to see what they do in the future. And the female leads parents are adorable, despite being a little quirky.
The moments between the two leads are also very cute, and as far as I can tell, all the actors are pretty good so far.

However. The storyline so far is unclear, it seems like it was done in some kind of rush to get the drama started, as the are a lot of random events and moments to proceed the bromance between the two leads. For example, what kind of strange person decides to become sworn blood brothers less then half a day after meeting?
Plus the end of the episode has such a cringey dance scene, I literally peeked at it from behind a pillow. But for some reason I REALLY want to know what happens next.
I supposed I should carry on watching to see what happens next, first episodes are normally not as good as the rest of the drama.
