A family crisis arises when a respected tailor suddenly leaves home.
Lee Man Sool is a master tailor who has been trying to preserve the dying art of making custom men’s suits from scratch through his family-owned business, Laurel Tree Tailor Shop, which has been in business for almost 100 years. However, Man Sool one day departs without notice, leaving only a note behind for his wife, Choi Gok Ji; twice-divorced daughter, read moreLee Dong Sook; Dong Sook’s daughter, Kim Da Jung; and son, Lee Dong Jin. Man Sool knows that his old-fashioned tailor shop is a dying business and asks his family to sell it for him while he is away because he doesn’t have the heart to do it himself.
Man Sool’s old apprentice, Bae Sam Do, who now runs a fried chicken business with his wife, Bok Sun Nyeo, is devastated by the news of his old master’s disappearance and wants to return to the tailor shop, but Sun Nyeo is still smarting over his past failed tailor businesses and forbids it.
Man Sool’s employees, seamstresses Na Yun Shil and Geum Choon Daek, want to keep the business open until the master tailor’s return, but Yun Shil keeps having bad experiences every time she runs into Dong Jin.
When Dong Jin’s wife, Min Hyo Joo, divorces him after he is unseated as the president of her father’s company, Meesa Apparel, by Hyo Joo’s stepbrother, Min Hyo Sang, and stepmother, Han Eun Sook, Dong Jin decides to return to his father’s tailor shop.
Meanwhile, Yun Shil’s friend, Kang Tae Yang, is dumped by his longtime girlfriend, television announcer Choi Ji Yeon, while Dong Sook is determined to help washed-up singer Sung Tae Pyung get back on his feet.

Its hard to find a long drama (50+ episodes) that actually manages to keep your attention the entire time. The problem with long dramas is that they usually tend to drag out plot lines, or insert the characters in stupid, unnecessary situations. This show was a nice change of pace from those other shows, and delivered something those shows don't. A great plot, with engaging characters.

Plot~
The plot focuses on a read more tailor shop and the clothing industry, which to be honest I know nothing about. It still has its cooperate moments, but its a different stroke than the usual office setting. The show mostly focused on how a small family own business could compete with a large, cooperate business. The focus on family and friendship is one the parts that won me over. The story follows about 5 story lines that all interconnect, and it does a great job of going into detail and developing each plot line. The bromance between the main 4 men was also adorable. Every time they got together, a slow motion scene was ensured, followed by chaos and me dying from laughter. I like all the couples but my favorite was Tae Yang and Hyo won. It was a change of pace to actually meet a nice rich girl who wan't scared to go after what she wants. This story-line also allowed us to understand the "villains" of the show and learn more about the "evil" brother.

Characters~
Once again I love them all! The main cast was diverse and filled with great characters. The female lead did have some annoying moments, but there were very little. I loved the Hyo Won and her mother! This family was supposed to the bad guys in the story but they were all so funny and the only one who was semi-evil was the brother. But it was still hard to hate him because the truth is he is just a over protective older brother, and a mama's boy. The story does a great job of developing these characters and adding depth.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and I was sad to see it end. I will definitely re-watch it, but because of the length (51 episodes is a bit too much for me) I will only re-watch certain parts. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good family drama, with cute couples, funny bromance, and lovable villains.

Both dramas are written by the same screen writter. The patriarch that owns the tailor shop in both dramas is played by the same actor. Pure 19 is a daily drama whose main character is a young girl who arrives from China as a bride only to learn that her groom to be has died just before she got there. So it starts with a grieving family, a widowed bride with no place to go, and some surprising interactions within and between families. Even though the main stories are different, there are several similarities in the various relationships which make it worth watching.

I'm sorry. Please don't take offense, but I have to disagree with some of the negative comments about this drama because for me, it was quite a pleasure to watch despite the 54 episodes. I finished watching it in a flash. It was entertaining, sweet, funny, warm and there's a lesson on life to boot. But, of course you don't have to take my word for it, so go see for yourself. We have different interests and/or opinions anyway. ^_^

Disliked it so much in EVERY single relationship there's the superior and the lowly one but the writer wrapped that idea in comedy with most of them so it was a bit light for the viewer to digest

    maybe SPOILER
1- first it was Leather jacket who's in no place to even look at the "3 times divorce" because he was broke OK this was the most acceptable one out of all
but when they know he was once for real popular they accepted him WTF
2- then next it was Yeon shil that I don't even understand for what fucking reason she was looked down at !! Dong jin have nothing to be higher than her they are in the same level if not Yeon shil is the higher one since she was never married while he's also a divorce like his SIS (who was btw also looking down on YS! when she experienced the same damn thing with her husband! ), and if we say they wanted him to marry someone from the elite what does he even have to offer to make an elite family accept him, he was just good at work that's all !
3- The announcer was looking down on Tae Yang because he was unemployed
4- Tae Yang was once again looked down at when he was with Hyo Won because you know typical rich girl poor guy but it was the lightest since it was mostly mixed with comedy and lots of cuteness
5- Hyo Sang and the announcer also the typical rich guy poor girl but they so deserve each other both are missed up so I don't give a fuck when he insult her but she just swallow it up because she wants his money serve her right
6- Sam Do and Sun Nyeo I don't even know where to start with this they need a counselor so bad

but the actors did a good job they were kinda lovely

I can see now why the needed the extra 4 episodes. It would not have been a peaceful ending that all the fans could appreciate otherwise.

This was a truly enjoyable and original family drama. Usually I keep well away from Korean family dramas (except for older ones such as Giant and East of Eden) as they tend to have too many exaggerated clichès which I never enjoy. However here the story line was not only about contrasts between rich/poor (there was very little of that thankfully) but it was mostly about personal growth of each of the characters.
Here family and friendship relations were easy going and pleasant to watch. Yes there was a part in the middle which fell back to bothersome clichès but luckily the story returned to being enjoyable pretty quickly.
I liked all the cast here and the 'gentlemen' in particular were very pleasant and kind and I will certainly miss all of them. I recommend this drama as a heart warming and pleasant watch.

Every time i watch the TaeYang/HyoWon couple in this drama, so much of their interaction reminds me of Yoong/YunJeong couple in Pure 19 by the same writer.
