Its hard to find a long drama (50+ episodes) that actually manages to keep your attention the entire time. The problem with long dramas is that they usually tend to drag out plot lines, or insert the characters in stupid, unnecessary situations. This show was a nice change of pace from those other shows, and delivered something those shows don't. A great plot, with engaging characters.

Plot~
The plot focuses on a tailor shop and the clothing industry, which to be honest I know nothing about. It still has its cooperate moments, but its a different stroke than the usual office setting. The show mostly focused on how a small family own business could compete with a large, cooperate business. The focus on family and friendship is one the parts that won me over. The story follows about 5 story lines that all interconnect, and it does a great job of going into detail and developing each plot line. The bromance between the main 4 men was also adorable. Every time they got together, a slow motion scene was ensured, followed by chaos and me dying from laughter. I like all the couples but my favorite was Tae Yang and Hyo won. It was a change of pace to actually meet a nice rich girl who wan't scared to go after what she wants. This story-line also allowed us to understand the "villains" of the show and learn more about the "evil" brother.

Characters~
Once again I love them all! The main cast was diverse and filled with great characters. The female lead did have some annoying moments, but there were very little. I loved the Hyo Won and her mother! This family was supposed to the bad guys in the story but they were all so funny and the only one who was semi-evil was the brother. But it was still hard to hate him because the truth is he is just a over protective older brother, and a mama's boy. The story does a great job of developing these characters and adding depth.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and I was sad to see it end. I will definitely re-watch it, but because of the length (51 episodes is a bit too much for me) I will only re-watch certain parts. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good family drama, with cute couples, funny bromance, and lovable villains.

This is the third long drama that I’ve watch and its my favorite so far! The plot might not seem as interesting as some other dramas but you have to keep in mind that this is a family drama so the plot revolves heavily around the men of Wolgyesu tailor shop and their family.

I fell for the main males characters quickly! The drama shows us that these gentlemen have flaws and arent perfect from the very beginning and I think thats what made me love them so much. They each had their own story and we get to see how they deal with romance and daily life. The female leads (the different love interests) are a different story, although I did love each of them at the end, there were moments when I didn’t like them at all! The secondary characters (mainly the family) were your typical annoying meddling family. There are two family shown and they are completely different.  I liked the contrast between them and I like how we got to see the, grow closer.

The acting was great and very believable. One of my favorute parts of this drama is that at the end you’re happy with how everything ended. Usually dramas have super villanous people who will do anything to get want they want even killing but this show didn’t have that. There are what you would call villains but they werent really that bad. I only hated them for a couple of episodes and then they showed us a different side and in the end they all moved on. I love how this drama shows forgiveness and how people make mistakes and that people can change for th better.

The show is 50+ episodes but I watch all most of them. I only skipped around 4 or 5 episode because at the time I was watching I had college stuff to do and I wanted to finish the drama before. Those episode to me were not that important so I didn’t miss anthing major.

Overall it was very entertaining and kept me wanting to watch the next episode! I binged this drama for a day because of how addicting it was. I recommend this drama for anyhing who isnt into major major drama and likes to see peoples daily lives.

Interesting Multiple Families and Leads Stories

Firstly, the casts in this drama are unbelievable, all of the main leads in this drama are famous and well known actors/actresses. That is why I love this drama. It is mostly because of the casts were able to portray each characters accurately and they made it interesting and funny. I think Ra Mi-Ran and Cha In-Pyo were the one who stands out the most for me in terms of acting, maybe because they have been in the entertainment industry for so long, and Cha In-Pyo is basically a movie director now.

At first, Cha In-Pyo and Ra Mi-Ran couple story is the one who stands out for me, because their acting is just amazing, and the story are pretty interesting too. However, I lost focus from the middle until the end. Their story just gets too draggy and boring.

The most interesting plot of this drama is Park Joon-Geum, Lee Se-Young, and Hyun Woo story. I can never skip any scenes from them. I think out of all the mother-daughter duo relationship I have watched in K-dramas, this is the funniest, and most interesting one to watch. I also love how Park Joon-Geum (rich mother in law) really adores Hyun Woo (who comes from ordinary background). At first, of course the mother in law were furious because she'd rather chose someone who's upper class, but she caved in because of his sweet, sincere, and innocent personality, and not only that, their story have a comedic elements to it, which adds more fun into their story. Furthermore, I really love Park Joon-Geum acting, she's a really talented actress, and can play all kinds of roles honestly, after watching this drama, and Be My Dream Family, I became a fan of her.

On the other hand, the story of the other couple are not so interesting to be honest, they have less-almost none of comedic sides to them. If you enjoy watching melodrama and family comedy, then you can gladly enjoy all of the couples stories. However, melodrama+comedy are not my cup of tea I'd rather enjoy both genre separately.

Overall this drama is really worth watching, the story is unique, and the writers did a decent job writing it. I just wish other couples stories weren't too draggy, this drama has 54 episodes, I'd say they can easily make this drama a 32 episodes, focusing on the important, and interesting leads stories.

Yes, it took me 4 years to finish The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop. Have you ever gotten bored with a drama, especially one in the 55 episode range, and decided to take a break for whatever reason? That's what I did. I kept telling myself, I'll get back to it. If you were to ask me, I'd say it's been a year to 18 months. I had no clue it's been 4 years!

I started Wolgyesu because the idea of a tailor shop interested me. "Every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man." I was praying for wonderfully tailored looks and some fashion hijinks & espionage as opposed to the forced relationship between boring and uncharasmatic characters that I received. There was hijinks & espionage, but very little in tailored looks imo. Don't even get me started on the women of the main family (the Lees). Your husband is a master tailor, but you look like you pick cabbage for a living. Huh? The support family (the Mins), had great clothing perhaps a little wacky, but great overall.

Wolgyesu started out interesting enough. The story seemed interesting. Lee Man Sool, the Master Tailor of Wolgyesu and the patriarch of a hodgepodge familial unit, disappears one day. He basically goes on a walkabout without any notice. His biological son (the man seems to acquire children), Lee Don Jin, divorced from his wife. the eldest daughter of the Min family, and forced out of his job at Meesa Apparel by his ex-mother in law (who once worked for his father) and brother-in-law, decides to take over the operations of Wolgyesu. The problem is he can't sew, let alone tailor. That's where Bae Sam Do, a master tailor trained by Lee Man Sool, comes in. Bae is like a son to the Lees so he and his wife, Bok Sun Nyeo, move into an apartment the Lees have on their property. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and the 2nd room houses a down on his luck singer named Tae Pyung Sung. He is wooed by the Lees black widow daughter, Dong Sok. Na Yun Shil, a sad pathetic excuse of a character, is an employee and eventual love interest for Dong Jin. Let me just say for the record that they bored the heck out of me and are the main reason why I stopped watching. I just couldn't take them any more. Na's story line is as idiotic as she is pathetic. I despise pathetic female characters that can't do anything for themselves but run and cry. The other couples are fun to watch, but the lead couple, not so much. The cast is rounded out by the Mins and Kang Tae Yang. The Mins are rich and own clothing line, Meesa Apparel. The youngest Min is naive and somewhat annoying. She falls in love instantly with Kang Tae Yang, who is the childhood friend of Wolgyesu's Na Yun Shil. He's a very honest, caring, and likable character. He was deeply hurt by his ex and has no interest in romance.

The Wolgyesu cast is very strong, especially the supporting cast. Choi Won Young was fantastic as Tae Pyung. He looked great in his clothing and totally embodied his character. Choi and Park Joon Geum (Ko Eun Sook, Min family matriarch) were the highlights of every episode. Both, Tae Pyung & Eun Sook, were quirky and entertaining. I also really enjoyed Cha In Pyo as Sam Do & Ma Mi Ran as Sun Nyeo. Both characters were interesting and entertaining. Since the first time I saw Lee Dong Gun in When It's At Night, I thought he was a D-lister with little acting ability that was forced into lead male roles simply because of his height and looks. Wolgyesu didn't do much to change my mind, but I did come to find his acting passable mostly when he shared scenes with Choi, Cha, and Hyun Woo, who played Kang Tae Yang. The 4 of them plus Shin Goo, Lee patriarch, are considered the gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop.

The music was passable. There was nothing great about it. Wolgyesu has absolutely 0 rewatch value. Overall, I'm giving it a 6 because I truly did enjoy most of the cast and characters. Without them I'd give the drama a 4.5 - 5 at best. The big problem is the storyline(s) I disliked happen to be the one(s) that were at the forefront of the drama.

The drama was a pleasant watch, I'm surprised I liked it. Calm and peaceful with great comedic dynamics between characters. Sam Do & his wife were probably the biggest highlights for anyone watching it. I wish we had more of them instead of the excessive focus on Tae Yang and his stalker. Even Tae Pyung & Dong Sook were cut off too short in last third. It's a shame we didn't get to see more Rock n Roll from Tae Pyung. Maybe add another small side story about Dong Sook's daughter that we barely ever saw her. At least Lee Man Sool was a great old geezer, full of wisdom. If you are in the mood for something long, give the drama a shot.

I watched about 10 dramas of Lee Dong Gun and I hated him in every single one except this one, of which he was tolerable this time. Speaking of which, both the FL and him felt underwhelming as the main leads but passable. I was wondering where's grandma in the last few episodes just to discover she passed away! Rip Kim Young Ae :(
