(the overall review was a deduction or summary of ll the other reviews below me)
1. story the story from my point of view was okay from the first 32 episodes but then all of the sudden the plot fell apart which distroyed my interest in the whole story ( am keeping the review short)

2. the acting for me was very poor the actors weren't interacting at all luhan was meant read more to play a pure and honesty and modest role but as i watched the story develop the love just seemed a bit.. fake the love didn't take time to develop they just out of no where feel in love . as for the actress bextiyar gulnezer is a very good actor as i admire her from "chinese paladin 5" and " the classic of the mountains and seas"
but this was not one of her best works so i rate it 7.5.

3. though i never really payed attention to the music in chinese dramas the music was i bit different from the fantasy element and story of the theme but i added all the reviews for the music and multiplied it by how many people that reviewed the drama below and got 11.5 and i ration the number to what i think it should get is 6.5

4. i never rewatched the drama because the story element fell apart during ep 32-the end

5. overall i got 6.5

A less tragic Nirvana in Fire meets Lord of the Rings!

I writing this review with 9 episodes left (I wanna take the rest nice and slow coz I don't want this awesome drama to end).

It's important to note that the drama went into production before the author finished writing the web novel, so if anything the movie version might be truer to the original work and differ from the drama. read more OK, enough of OT stuff, back to the core of review:

Fans of Lord of the Rings will rejoice that FotD is essentially a reimagining. You have the Star Formation that gives power to the Empress that is essentially the One Ring. It is essentially detrimental to Empress (it's actually something evil that is controlling her), yet she has trouble letting the precious-s-s go.

Then, there is CCS dagger-like sword that looks like Bilbo's Sting dagger. And of course the little dragon ZS is modeled after Smaug the Dragon from The Hobbit, but a good kind dragon, not an evil one. Then, when LL teased ZS with hard-to-guess riddles, that scene essentially imitated "Riddles in the Dark" between Bilbo and Gollum in The Hobbit.

Superimposed over this are scenes remiscient of Nirvana in Fire: Sick guy returns to the Capital to attain his destiny, elite guards getting murdered to frame someone, the main hero can't actually fight against powerful villains but uses his cunning to subdue them, an Imperial ruler that is cold and "heartless" even towards her own child, etc.

Nevertheless, the drama packs an awesome punch coz let's face it there is nothing new under the sun, only inspiration from some works that existed before!

Two stories are somewhat similar when you look at the relationships between the characters.

- Both male leads are outstanding doctors with little experience of fighting at the beginning
- Both female leads are the best disciples of a sect responsible to protect the world.

Fighter of Destiny, because its more extended, has more character growth and more arcs, but the feeling is the same.

same kind of illness
secret idenaty
both mc's are very intelligent
same kind of subtle romance

Seriously I feel like it should change to Luo Luo and chengsheng as lead like literally they are so cute together. Ugh literally Janice should've been the female lead. I'm only watching Janice's scene now I can't stand how the female lead Nazha is so stiff

I feel you I'm skipping the female lead's scenes too. Ik lol yourong and changsheng dont look that good together probably because of how Nazha looks older than luhan.

I like if Janice Wu a lead female, she can express what emotion with her face. The Lead female now so emotionless, she can express the feeling of her burden with her eyebrow and lip though. All dramas she played is same... no emotion but stick to the script.

Omg I was so mad because I loved CP3 so much so I gave CP5 a go even tho I knew that nazha's acting was bad but like literally I couldn't anymore so I had to drop CP5 cause of her stiff/bad acting, like I thought she at least improved but no it was still bad.

It wasn't that bad I'm really liking the romantic development between Xuroung and Chen now, although I love Loulou, the chemistry between Xuroung and Chen just feels so sweet and intense.

I don't find the acting to be that good in Eternal Love aside from Mo Yuan, personally. The storyline itself is also a little "meh" to me. That said, I'm not too far into Eternal Love, so maybe I just need to keep at it for my opinion to change, but I'm definitely more interested in this show right now. Among the female characters, Luo Luo is my least favorite. It's mostly because I hate her voice, but I'm also not a fan of overly "bubbly" personalities.

What I like about this series is that there's a decent storyline surrounding a romance. For me, Eternal Love is just Mo Yuan and Bai Qian mundanely interacting with each other which is fine, I don't mind simple romances, but it makes the rest of the story which contains like 30 other people seem irrelevant. Again, I'm not even a third of the way through EL, so maybe I'm being too harsh too soon, but that's how it's coming off to me.

Oh you probably didn't see feng Jiu and Dijun yet their chemistry and acting is amazing too it's not only the lead, everyone in eternal love actually knows how to act. This series is eh to me since it's just slow and I just don't like how the female lead can't act she's too stiff Ik some are saying it's because that's her character but I've seen other dramas of her which is the same stiff/no expression so rn I'm watching for luoluo I hope she gets a happy ending

I've never seen the lead female act in anything else, but I don't mind her emotionlessness. I rarely see stoic female characters in dramas, so it's something different for me. I'm willing to forgive the newbie-level acting because I'm actually down for the storyline. The romance that's supposed to exist between Chen Chang Shen is kinda just whatever for me. I care more about Chen Chang Shen's character development and his whole "altering his destiny" thing than I do about his relationship with You Rong. Tbh if she died and it caused Chang Shen to go through crazy drama and then just unleash and go on a rampage, I'd be just as content. haha I don't particulary like or dislike You Rong. I appreciate her character's confidence and sense of duty a lot, but I don't focus on her character enough for it to detract from the show's entertainment for me.

I'm excited to see more of Dijun on the screen in EL. He and Li Jing are my fav male far.

Yea I mean now I don't even care about yourong cause it's not like the acting will change so I'm just waiting to see what happens in the end I just really hope that luoluo will get a happy ending.

Towards the end of EL dijun has more screen time

I enjoy virtually every female character in this show so far (ep. 10). They're confident and they make resolute decisions without hesitation. They also kick ass. I love it. I'm also really enjoying Chen Chang Shen's humility. You just want to give him a hug every time you see him. Xuan Yuan Po and Tang 36 are really cute and funny and help to keep everything light-hearted. So far, so good. :)

I feel like a really tragic scene is coming when the queen finally notices her mistakes. I hope they lift the secret sometime soon, because I feel for her in advance. Don't let her harm him anymore T_T

I am loving this drama so far. It's kind of hard to find decent chinese dramas like this one. I was wondering if anyone can recommend me more c-dramas just like this one?

P.S. I like period dramas that are easy to follow. Other drama that i have watched is princess weiyoung.
