(the overall review was a deduction or summary of ll the other reviews below me)
1. story the story from my point of view was okay from the first 32 episodes but then all of the sudden the plot fell apart which distroyed my interest in the whole story ( am keeping the review short)

2. the acting for me was very poor the actors weren't interacting at all luhan was meant read more to play a pure and honesty and modest role but as i watched the story develop the love just seemed a bit.. fake the love didn't take time to develop they just out of no where feel in love . as for the actress bextiyar gulnezer is a very good actor as i admire her from "chinese paladin 5" and " the classic of the mountains and seas"
but this was not one of her best works so i rate it 7.5.

3. though i never really payed attention to the music in chinese dramas the music was i bit different from the fantasy element and story of the theme but i added all the reviews for the music and multiplied it by how many people that reviewed the drama below and got 11.5 and i ration the number to what i think it should get is 6.5

4. i never rewatched the drama because the story element fell apart during ep 32-the end

5. overall i got 6.5

A less tragic Nirvana in Fire meets Lord of the Rings!

I writing this review with 9 episodes left (I wanna take the rest nice and slow coz I don't want this awesome drama to end).

It's important to note that the drama went into production before the author finished writing the web novel, so if anything the movie version might be truer to the original work and differ from the drama. read more OK, enough of OT stuff, back to the core of review:

Fans of Lord of the Rings will rejoice that FotD is essentially a reimagining. You have the Star Formation that gives power to the Empress that is essentially the One Ring. It is essentially detrimental to Empress (it's actually something evil that is controlling her), yet she has trouble letting the precious-s-s go.

Then, there is CCS dagger-like sword that looks like Bilbo's Sting dagger. And of course the little dragon ZS is modeled after Smaug the Dragon from The Hobbit, but a good kind dragon, not an evil one. Then, when LL teased ZS with hard-to-guess riddles, that scene essentially imitated "Riddles in the Dark" between Bilbo and Gollum in The Hobbit.

Superimposed over this are scenes remiscient of Nirvana in Fire: Sick guy returns to the Capital to attain his destiny, elite guards getting murdered to frame someone, the main hero can't actually fight against powerful villains but uses his cunning to subdue them, an Imperial ruler that is cold and "heartless" even towards her own child, etc.

Nevertheless, the drama packs an awesome punch coz let's face it there is nothing new under the sun, only inspiration from some works that existed before!

Two stories are somewhat similar when you look at the relationships between the characters.

- Both male leads are outstanding doctors with little experience of fighting at the beginning
- Both female leads are the best disciples of a sect responsible to protect the world.

Fighter of Destiny, because its more extended, has more character growth and more arcs, but the feeling is the same.

same kind of illness
secret idenaty
both mc's are very intelligent
same kind of subtle romance

At first i watched it because of Luhan but im addicted this drama XD i love it its like im a kid and im watching avatar all over again and about the female lead...the romance dosent play a big part in the story and so far in ep16 there has been no chhesy kisss kiss scene and im more intersted whats gonna happen to Luhans character! Still im intersted how she is gonna fall in love with him...i dont know why people expect them to bee in love right away! This is not a korean drama and its not a short one like the korean one so its not gonna be just 20episodes but more...if its like f(x) Victorias drama i expect it to be around 63 episodes so people calm down chinese dramas are long...

Only reason why I'm watching this is because of Janice wu but there's so many things that are making me wanting to drop this drama already

Ik she's pretty but her acting is just not for me. Like she can't act she has no expression but that's for me I don't know about others

But she did pretty well on dramas like classic of mountain and sea, legend of Qing qiu fox. Her characters always remain the same though, quiet and polite. Idk but she's really lacks emotion in this one but we'll see in the future

I guess but then it's just that I have watched some of her other dramas and it was just bad but that's my opinion. I feel like she needs to take on more supporting roles instead of lead to help her acting

can we all just take a moment though to appreciate the beauty that is Luhan, honestly when we first see him in the show I actually had to pause it just to really be able to take it all in. That man is legit one of the prettiest human beings out there and I'm including girls to that list :)

watching this show for Janice Wu (beast princess)... honestly just watching her parts now. but i am impressed with Luhan, he's doing pretty good but i prefer main guys like william chan. Bextiyar Gülnezer is still the same, she's very pretty tho. mo yu and tang tang makes a cute couple. lol

It gets better and better. So many good dramas this summer: Fighter of the Destiny airs on Monday-Thursdays, The Perfect Match airs on Fridays, Boku Unmei no Hito Desu airs on Saturdays. The big problem is what I'd do when these shows are over .... :(

I'm sure the drama will also be amazing; but I don't think my heart can endure 68 episodes of pain and tears....

Same with me! I also hesitated to start Fighter...Destiny because of the 55 episodes. Now, I am up to ep10, and hoping to watch the next ten episodes this week.

I looked at your drama list and saw that you've seen both Nirvana in Fire and Eternal Love. I've been hesitating to watch Nirvana in Fire. I know both dramas are very different, but is Nirvana in Fire actually better than Eternal Love?

I finally decided to watch Nirvana in Fire, 1 1/4 years after the TV broadcast. NIF and EL are period costume dramas with different motivations. NIF is historical fiction heavy drama, while EL is fantasy romance fiction light drama. NIF is intense and intellectual, while EL appeals to the heart. NIF story was continuous, while EL story was segmented.

.....I am dropping it. I just couldn't get into it. My qualm is not with the acting it is with the script. To everyone else who likes it, carry on. Again, I REALLY wanted to like it but it just is not for me.

I Am at ep20 now, thé story is good but I really don't like the female lead. It feels like forcing herself to act.
Also the storyline is really slow and fx scenes are not well done O_o

One of the main reasons why I didn't want to watch this was because of the female lead all the others dramas that had her as lead got ruined for me and she can't act at all

Wow! Much better than I thought. I was watching it for Luhan but the story is actually really good. They pay attention to the flow of the narrative and the main theme or point of the story - which a lot of Chinese dramas tend to ignore and let the side stories make the whole story boring. Here, everything the hero does and each substory has a reason and a plot that links to the main story so it's really interesting to watch. The production value also seems quite high - less CGI and a lot more real wire stunts. The quality is SO great! I'm also really enjoying Luhan and his portrayal of the character. He's nuanced, detailed and just acting the character really well. Totally recommend it! I hope it does well in the ratings!

wow....already got 8.6. I'm not yet watch it, just watched some part cuz I can't bring myself to watch it. Luhan is my bias in EXO but see him in drama is way different, I mean his face is too cute, too young to be lead male, to be heroic, I can't find romantic in his eyes and also lead female look awkward, her acting still not good. Both lack of chemistry. hmmm.... maybe I'm the only one who think like this. Anyway wish this drama success. Fighting Luhan :)

Well, the female lead practice cultivation that make her unable to love. If she fall in love, the cultivation she made will be lost. That's probably why you feel the lack of chemistry. Bextiyar Gülnezer is an okay actress. She has the same aura like Dilraba Dilmurat but don't have the impact like her.

Gülnezer, I also like her since drama Classic of mountain and sea, I'm a fan of her boyfriend Zhang Han, I can accept her acting but in my opinion still not good enough. I think we just have different opinion. Anyway I'm starting watching this drama, Yes, it's good.

She is beautiful but her acting unacceptable for me

I only saw Chinese Paladin 5, the sequal for the first chinese paladin. Decent but worst among the 3 paladin series. That is the only drama i watch,so don't know her acting abilities. I merely have faith as her cultivation require her not to feel emotion, making me not angry towards her right now.
