I Belonged to You has one of those predictable Chinese slice-of-life movie plots. A mix of inter-connected people who go through a certain period in their life. In the end they realise the value of the simple things in life and the film has you appreciating those who love and support you. Nothing really new here.

However, one thing that definitely was atypical, was the fantastic score and soundtrack.
I would actually read more even recommend you watch this film just for the music.
Which is also why the rewatch value is a little high.

The acting was solid, no complaints there.

But oh boy the music.
Please go and watch it even if it's just for the music.

I honestly made this film a priority because I adore Yang Yang. I'm glad I did because not only did it exceed my expectations, but I also really enjoyed it

The actors/actresses all did a WONDERFUL job and the actor who played the main radio host was perfect for his character. I loved the cinematography and the many scenes where you viewed above the city during day and night were gorgeous. I read more really enjoyed the music composed for this film and every track fit each scene wonderfully.

The film does really well with showing you the struggles and personalities of all the characters involved and was more realistic with outcome. It's less of a rom-com that feeds you an unoriginal fairy tale romance and more of a modern day take on the ups & downs of the relationships you experience in life.

It was funny.
It was lovely.
It was quirky.
It was heartbreaking.
And it shows you that sometimes things work out, while other times they don't.
I wasn't bored once.
(Also, Yang Yang is adoooraaaable)

Guys, neither watch this movie based on any good reviews nor skip the movie based on negative reviews. Watch the first 30 minutes and you decide by yourself. I loved it! I watched it in Toronto on Saturday night show. All the seats were filled and the synced chorus hums of Chinese audience mesmerized me (mostly during intimate scene between leads! I have never experienced this much admiration from any audience) It's my first Chinese movie in big screen and worth. Music and cinematography are the best part of the movie. The metro train scene where Chen and Birdie converse was shot and edited perfect. To me that is the best scene. Stars on the sky in a night scene is also equally good.
