When a live-action version of Ouran was announced, I jumped up and down until I gave myself a headache. I am a serious fan of Ouran High School manga and anime (especially the manga), and I've always thought that it should be adapted into a live action.

I wasn't disappointed, either. The Ouran High School Host Club drama truly was the icing on Hunny-sempai's keki for me. I love the drama, the cast, and the entire adaptation of Bisco Hatori's fantastic manga on screen.

In particular, I find that Yamamoto Yusuke plays Tamaki well (I knew he could do it--he is awesome). I don't understand the arguments about his acting ability based on his hair color--which in the manga isn't blonde anyway. A character which surprised me was Daito Shunsuke's Kyouya. Kyouya was my least favorite character in Ouran until the drama. He's still not my favorite, but I like him much more now (that has nothing to do with Daito's suaveness, whatsoever, lol). I also felt that Haruna was a good Haruhi, and Chiba is an awesome Hunny. The Takagi Twins never fail to disappoint, either.

Plot-wise, I feel that the drama did the best it could with the ridiculous time constraints put on it by the network. As the first drama I've ever watched in Real Time, I never once did not laugh during an episode. Everything worked well, and it could not get me more excited for the movie.

Overall, I will rewatch Ouran again because it's that good, it's my favorite manga, and it's a good drama on sad days.

Initially ,i was unable to accept anything related to ouran high school other than the manga and the anime, but after watching this drama till now (till episode 8)I changed my opinion completely!IT IS A GREAT SHOW ,REALLY EXCITING AND HELAROUS!the cast offers great efforts in conveying the characters ,they are not only acting like they are anime or manga characters but they take their roles seriously and acting greatly AS A DRAMA ,yamamoto yusuki born to be tamaki,haruna-san acting nicely as haruhi, daito as kuoya is acting in a cool way also masaya as mori is acting soooo funny and seriously ,chiba yuda as honny is super cute(kawaiii),Ryusei Ryo as nekozawa is funny and you will fear him **!(LOL),hikaru and kaoru are soooo cool and the menapi twins suits the role (demons).

ALL OF THE ACTORS SUITS THEIR ROLE ,ACCORDING TO THE SHAPE OR THE ACTING EFFORTS.

IF YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR LIGHT FUNNY SHOW AND FULL OF COMEDY SCENES AND HELARIOUS JOKES ,ALSO HAVE GREAT SERIOUS LOVE STORY AND LIFE DRAMA STORIES(OURAN DRAMA)DEFINITELY THE BEST CHOICE ,NOW I AM WAITING FOR THE REST TWO OR THREE FINAL EPISODES AND AM SURE THEY ARE GREAT LIKE THE REST OF THE EPISODES ,FINALLY FEEL HAPPY AND RELEIF AFTER WATCHING EVERY FUNNY GERAT EPISODE! ^_^

A lot of people who loved the original anime and manga really do not like this drama. That's completely understandable because you are taking fictional characters and asking actors to portray them in a realistic way. For me though who both loved the anime and manga i also LOVED this Live action adaptation. Yamamoto Yusuke was born to play Tamaki. The actors all brought the 2-D characters to life. I could not pull myself away from a single episode and was so sad when i heard they were cutting it short to 11 episodes. Less then half of original manga is portrayed in the drama because of the amount of episodes and also the length of episodes. Despite that, this was still an amazing show. It's the kind of show that makes you smile from beginning to end. I will continue to rewatched this drama multiples.

I was so shocked to see this show up as a drama and was hesitant at first to actually watch it. I couldn't imagine how some of the main elements of the of both the manga and anime could be incorporated into live action. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did they keep the great and hilarious parts that made this story so great in its other forms, but they did it so well. The cast was outstanding and I literally could not stop watching once I began. This is definitely worth a watch and better have a second season!!!!

"Ouran High School Host Club" was one of my favorite mangas back when I had the time to read all 90+ chapters of it, and after I finished it, I kept going back to watch and rewatch the anime. When I learned that there was a live action version, I was initially weary of it. I was afraid that it wasn't going to live up to the manga. It came as a nice surprise when the live-action version retained the manga's charm, but added it's own spice to the story.
Story: It was similar to the original in many ways, but there were more comedic moments.
Acting: I'm glad the actor who played Tamaki wasn't afraid to look ridiculous, because his character was downright crazy. There was a lot of overacting, but that served to make the show even more hilarious than it already was.
Music: Music was alright, nothing special in my opinion, but good enough.
Rewatch Value: Considering that this show is pretty much reverse harem, I'd watch it all over simply for the eyecandy.
Overall: An amazing adaptation of the original. I loved how crazy it was and would recommend it even to people who haven't read the manga.

A successful manga/anime into live action. Take note, drama producers.

Cheerful and hilarious.
A lot of the credit goes to the actors who balanced quirkiness with good acting restraint. Tamaki senpai was the star of the show. But to be honest, I was rooting for Haruhi to be with Kyouya because Daito Shunsuke stole the show in terms of chemistry after the scene at the beach. All the characters were cheeky and quite loveable.

All of the dialogue and the acting was amazing.

A fabulous and fun and well executed drama. Totally enjoyable.

Story: I stumbled upon OHSHC a couple years ago, read the manga (several times over) and watched the anime. I eagerly awaited the episodes to be aired and was not disappointed. The directors and producers stuck very close to the manga and even kept the exaggerated feel, such as when Tamaki’s feelings are hurt, he is plastered to the wall in shock. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into this drama and the script.

I was a bit disappointed at how short the episodes were, and that there were only 11. However, a movie was announced during a fan meeting on August 25, 2011 and will continue off from the conclusion of the television series. The film is set to be released in March 2012.

Music: The classical inputs that they have really have that ‘royalty’ sound to it whenever it’s played. I would have liked to have seen the original theme from the anime but the new theme fit perfectly as well.

Cast/Acting: It’s not just the content of the drama that stuck close to the manga, the actors did too. Not only did they all look the part, they even acted it. When the cast was first announced I remember there was a lot of talk that Yamamoto Yusuke wasn’t fit for the role of the Prince. I believe he is the Prince. He did a wonderful job getting into his role and staying with the character, especially with all the weird expressions and voices.

I could go on and on about how each and every actor suited their roles perfectly. But that would make this review way too long. Honestly, they were all so brilliant that I’m rewatching it again.

If you liked the Anime or the Manga, you will LOVE this Drama. I was a bit worried that the Drama wouldn't live up to my expectations, but I was happily proven wrong.

It's funny, lighthearted and everything you'd expect from a Drama version of the beloved series. I felt like I was watching the Anime/Manga characters come to life. They could not have picked anyone better to play the main cast.

My only complaint is how short it is; it /does/ follow the Anime storyline, but I was hoping to see more episodes from this Drama.

Nevertheless, the series is perfect in every other way. I'd highly recommend it to EVERYONE.

1-The reason I watched this : Simply because I watched the anime so I was excited to see the live-action adaptation.

2-Storyline/Plot : For me it was predictable since I already saw the anime; I really liked how the characters came to life in a sweet way (except some characters)
Of course, there were some missing things since the drama is shorter than the anime but it was acceptable overall.

3-Acting/Cast : I've got to admit that I wasn't expecting this cast plus I am not familiar with half of them yet I liked most of them because they grasped their roles perfectly.
Although I can't say that I liked Yamamoto Yusuke's Tamaki because it was overdone in many ways but I have to say this: Kyouya was my best character in the anime so I was anxious to see how he's going to be here : Daito Shunsuke literally dazzled me and made me love his character more. Other characters were really enjoyable to watch too.

4-The music : it was J-rock so it was sort of cool somehow.

5-Rewatch value : Yes, it's rewatchable since there are a lot of moments that deserves the rewatch.

6-The ending : It was cool but since there's a film coming up I don't actually consider it as an "end" yet.

7-Overall : I had fun while watching this, I felt like seeing the anime all over again only a little faster. There were too many hilarious moments and chaacters in here.

P.S: If you already seen the anime then you would enjoy this.

At first I wasn't sure I could even finish the first episode is was outrageously stupid but I kept watching and it kept getting better by episode 5 I loved it. All the great ones are after 4 in my opinion. It's still outrageous but I really like it. You can really tell the guys are enamored with her, even Kyoya. It's cute. There are a lot of cute scenes and it looks like Haruhi is starting a like Tammki. Though a bit different then the anime and they have changed a few things, added and removed,it's still really cute. I am still excited about the next episode 9 when they go on vacation. I'm expecting it to be really cute. I own the anime series and have decided when this comes out I will buy it also.

I loved this drama so much that I had to go & watch the anime. I loved both. I liked the anime a little more b/c it gave me more back story to all the characters. I loved the ending of the anime more 2 b/c the parents r fighting over who's son will get the girl. I can't wait for the movie to come out b/c I want 2 see the story continue. There were so many wonderful things about this drama. It was funny, it had serious points, each character had his/her own story, the group of friends becoming a family. I loved the craziness that was part of this drama b/c it was funny in the lack of reality. The visualization of what it might feel like to have certain words thrown at u was interesting to me & made me think about how the feelings are expressed.

I will watch this again, prolly right b-4 the movie comes out & a couple times b/t now & then. I suggest that if u think this drama is stupid or redic. Just give it a try b/c the more u watch the more u sympathize w/ the characters & the less u feel that it is unrealistic, and start to love it.

I decided to watch this drama because of so many amazing reviews about it. And I actually enjoyed it. Its humor is very similar to anime humor and that never fails to make me laugh. I kind of wish that I had read the manga before watching this show. However, it didn't bore me overall. It had its very great and not-so-great moments but it was still enjoyable to watch.

I really adore Haruhi and liked her character a lot. The Host Club idea was also very good. I think this would make a much better watch as an anime rather than a regular show. That's because cartoons can overact all the time and still not bore us; but Tamaki's reactions got way too annoying by the end. It was too unreal. It still makes you laugh, though. I loved all the other Hosts equally. The show had some memorable moments especially those with Nekozawa and his black magic jokes were probably the best.

What I also liked was that the characters had depth in spite of their goofy actions- especially Tamaki. Him treating Haruhi as his own daughter had me laughing out loud. And Haruhi's transvestite father was good for a laugh. Only the member with the teddy bear was ridiculous. The highlight of all jokes is probably the homoerotic/incest relationship between the twins. Really, this show had one of the funniest jokes I have ever come across in a drama. Now I am tempted to indulge in the anime as well as the manga.

This drama is worth the watch and it ends pretty quickly- each episode spanning only 20 minutes and with only 11 episodes it is a quick watch. It never drags on and there are fresh jokes in every episode. I probably laughed hardest at the ending scene. Anime-type expressions came out to be the best from Haruhi.
