I watched this on the plane and surprisingly it was really good. The story follows closely to the manga but still it's a movie so they have to cut some scenes. Honestly for me, the highlight of the movie is definitely the chemistry between the lead. Suda Masaki did a very great job in portraying Haru you can't help but fall for him. It is a very good coming age movie focusing more on the friendship between the students. I really like how this is not your typical shojo movie where the guy is a jerk and the girl is naive, this one actually holds the message to just be yourself. For music they mostly use Nishino Kana's songs because if I'm not wrong it's kind of some collaboration project? Definitely a rewatch I can totally swoon over Haru forever and please stay until the credit end scene.

Just your typical fast paced, manga based romance movie.

I watched this movie because I want something light, though I got what I want still the pacing in this story bothered me. I haven't read the manga and I have no idea how is the development of each character there, so this movie got me scratching my head because some scenes doesn't make sense like suddenly one character likes another character, not enough development to make that believable. I also have hard time connecting to these 2 main characters, not enough scenes for me to truly understand their actions, the pacing is just too fast. Also, some characters are wasted like minami hamabe's character, I thought she is part of the main cast, but felt like she's just a cute stray kitten who walked passed me, no idea what happen to her after. It's still a pretty good movie though, fun story, cute moments, lovable characters.

Technically, cinemagraphy is nice, Iove the camera work during those cute scenes. Music is also good, nice songs, though I felt it has too many songs, I think I heard 4 songs played throughout this movie. Acting is also good, you have both suda and tao as main lead and you can never go wrong with them, they also have great chemistry in this movie.

You might love this movie more than I do if you read the manga or if you're already familiar with the characters but it might be enough for you to love this if you are only after for a cute story, lovable characters, great kissess and good ending.

A classic manga based live action that didn't manage to leave its mark. The story was interesting at first and the boy was an entertaining character, funny and adorable. His love story with the girl was a bit awkward at first, but it got better. Then there was the cliche ending that kind of ruined this one for me. And they tried to explore the girl's relationship with her friends but they decided not to half way through, which was a let down.
Other than that, the performances were good and the settings well managed. So, five out of ten.

It has been so long since I have watched a Japanese romance plus youth film. Oooooh the chills! Kilig!

I have read this manga before and I loved it! The storytelling seemed seamless and given the chance, I would read it again! When I heard there was a movie, I was so excited to watch it. So my conclusion to this movie is 6/10.

The movie focused too much on their romance. It was fast paced. Well, what do I expect? Too many chapters to put into a 1 hr 45 minute-movie. What made this movie special was the actors.

I loved Tsuchiya Tao and Suda Masaki. They are both great actors and their chemistry was cool. Tsuchiya was great at being cold and Suda was amazing at being crazy. I was caught in their storm. But, the ending kissing scene caught me laughing my ass off when Shizuku went flying!!!!!

Anyway, the music! You can never go wrong with Nishino Kana's songs when it's about romance. OST was nice.

I would, however, not rewatch this but I may reread the manga! Oooohh I really love the story <3 If only the movie also translated the storytelling as well, I would have a higher rewatch value for this movie.

Easy watch

Likes: Cute and easy to watch

Dislikes: There were a few times where Haru would grin and I wanted to reach for my toothbrush

This is a cute story of two lonely outcasts who eventually fall for each other. Suda Masaki does an excellent job portraying the strange Haru Yoshida who is like this wild dog tamed only by Mizutani Shizuku, the antisocial brainy act played by the wonderful Tsuchiya Tao. I loved how the ML had no filter and showed how intensely he liked the FL by following her everywhere.

The two had great chemistry and I loved that they both were a bit weird. It 's a cute story and a breeze to watch.

It's hard not to compare this to the anime. When you do, you'll realize it's super different, and it doesn't live up to it.

Yes, it's a 2 hour movie, so they gotta cut some things out. I think they had cut out too many scenes of Haru and Shizuku in the beginning, because the pacing felt weird and too fast. The Natsume and Micchan love story should've never happened in the movie to give more time to Haru and Shizuku. Seriously, the Natsume-Micchan scenes were only like 3 minutes. It did nothing for the movie.

I feel like they tried making this story more realistic.... Except they didn't. Like, super strength and flying capabilities?!?! ???? They toned down the characters and cut back on 95% of the humor. I am SUPER DISAPPOINTED that it wasn't funny at all. They tried to make some of the beginning scenes funny, but without proper BGM, it was just super awkward and cringey.
And because they tried cramming the entire story into a movie, characters aren't given enough time to develop, so they end up being very different from their anime/manga counterpart.

Maybe it's the script or the pacing, but Tsuchiya Tao was super awkward in the beginning, but she got progressively better. Masaki Suda is entertaining as Haru. I think all of the characters were toned down, except Haru, so he feels super over exaggerated. That shade of blonde on Yamaken was just UGLY. The actor for Sasayan was cute, but he's got a mature face IMO. He looks like he's in his mid to late 30's when he's only 27 (and playing a highschool student).

I think the individuals that would enjoy this live-action are hardcore fans of the manga. Also, I have never read the manga so my understanding of the movie was based on what was presented within it. The problem for me was that it felt like parts of the storyline was missing, and there was a severe lack of character development due to the time constraints. That is a complete bummer because the actors and actress are amazing !

I don't recommend for people that are not familiar with the material, rather maybe read up on the manga or watch the anime before approaching this movie.

I was really happy to see how good this was. It's so much better than a lot of other movie adaptations of manga/anime out there. The acting is 100% what made this movie such a stand out. Suda Masaki absolutely nailed his role as Haru, I honestly can't imagine anyone else playing him now XD The story did feel a tad rushed at points, but that's bound to happen when you're trying to fit such a lengthy story into 100 minutes. I thought that overall they really managed to capture the feel of the story pretty well. This movie is honestly such a blast to watch, if you like this kind of story, I recommend that you give it a shot. ^^

She should have chosen Yamaken

How do I start? I just genuinely love Suda Misaki. He is such a great actor. I really like the ambiance of this film! It takes me back to my high school years and I become somehow attached to the characters. I wish it was longer since I want to know more about the side characters. Although I love Haru, I kind of feel like the main girl should have ended up with Yamaken. I really hate it when Haru gets angry. He tends to become scary and violent, which worries me a lot for the main girl for their future. I love how their friendship progresses, but she deserves better.

Proceed with caution if you're seeking a cohesive and satisfying teen romance.

I have never read the manga so my review of the movie was based on what was presented within it.

One of the film's major shortcomings is its rushed pacing. The narrative hurtles forward, leaving little room for meaningful character development and depth. As a result, key aspects of the story feel disjointed, and certain character motivations remain unclear. This lack of context left mw scratching my heads, especially as I was unfamiliar with the source material.

The chemistry between the main leads, portrayed by the talented actors Suda Masaki and Tsuchiya Tao, adds a spark to the film. Their performances bring the characters to life, and the on-screen connection between Mizutani and Haru is one of the movie's highlights. However, even their commendable efforts cannot fully compensate for the underdeveloped plot.

The cinematography deserves praise, particularly during the film's cute and romantic scenes. The camera work effectively captures the emotions of the characters and adds a visually appealing layer to the storytelling. The music, though enjoyable, may feel overwhelming with the abundance of songs, occasionally distracting from the narrative.

One of the film's disappointments lies in the underutilization of certain characters, such as Minami Hamabe's role, which seems promising but ultimately falls flat. This lack of attention to supporting characters contributes to the feeling of missed opportunities within the story.

In conclusion, "My Little Monster" has its moments of fun and endearing romance, but the rushed pacing and insufficient character development may leave viewers wanting more. Fans of the original manga or anime may find some enjoyment in seeing the characters on the big screen, but for those new to the story, it might be worth exploring the source material for a more satisfying experience.

[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]

SO CUTEEE Σ>―(〃°ω°〃)♡→
MASAKI IS SO CUTEEE Σ>―(〃°ω°〃)♡→

I always love Masaki's act in all his movie, so real and so natural (^_^) And Tao is better at playing a serious-faced girl XD

Okay, I only read half of the manga and in my opinion, the movie capture the right intention of the manga, at least for the part that I read.

What else can I say? The movie is so entertaining, so youth and so comical (^_^)

I enjoyed this movie. Some things I liked about it:
-It was really adorable!
-I liked the character development
-The story was very interesting
-Haru was just...a great character!
Some things I didn't like:
-I didn't really like the ending, well not really that, I didn't like the way they led up to the ending.
-Some of the stuff was a bit confusing the first time I watched it, although that could just be me (I don't remember some of the stuff happening as I rewatch it, so it is probably just me!)
Anyways, it's a good movie!
