The story may not be something 100% new but it involves you in such a way that you fall in love with the characters riht away.
It really is both romance and horror! I got chills down my spine with the ghost scenes and your are drawn to feel the pain and loneliness of the female main character.
The comic scenes are... how can i say this... the chery on top of read more the cake! It's brilliante, hilarius, sweet, spooky, dramatic and at the same time... addictive.
Great soundtrack, great choice of actors, outstanding preformances, the supporting cast is amazing... TOTALLY want to watch it again (with proper subs, when i find them! XD)

Story: 8
The story reminded me a lot of The Master's Sun although this came out first and was probably the inspiration for the latter. I loved The Master's Sun and I loved this as well. It's not your typical romantic comedy as some horror elements and melodrama were thrown here and there. The mixture of the genres was definitely something new for me but it still had that typical "parting and read more reuniting" that most romantic Korean movies are known for which is just fine.

Acting/Cast: 9
Going into this movie I did not know who the male lead was but I completely adore Son Ye Jin in The Classic which was the main reason why I picked this up. Son Ye Jin is fantastic as usual and the male lead is definitely someone I'll look into in the future. He has a lot of titles under his belt so that's great. Their chemistry was not the best of the best, but it was there. It was subtle and not forced.

Music: 7
There were no catchy or memorable soundtracks I heard. Mostly, I would hear something and look it up on YouTube and discover another Korean singer but this was not the case. Still giving it a 7 for it's great horror sound effects.

Rewatch Value: 9
Definitely has rewatch value! I know a lot of people can relate to the female lead's dilemma (although not necessarily including the "seeing ghosts" part), but most of us has had times where we were all alone. This movie definitely made me feel better with the thought that someday someone will come into our lives and be there for us. I know I've experienced that scene where she ate half the cake in one sitting. LOL!

Overall: 9
A solid 9 for me. Watch it now!

To start of with they are both South Korean movies and are movies that are mixed with horror and romance.

Both THE MASTER'S SUN, and SPELLBOUND are cute Romantic Comedies with spooky ghost activity.. Both have a leading lady that sees Dead People and a leading man that helps her to lead a more normal life.

This movie is so sweet and cheesy! I honestly love it! As an avid kdrama mini horror fan this was actually a bit scary but I just close my eyes for those parts. (It helps lol) I was going to rate it an 8.5 but ending is just so sweet I had to add a whole nother star! I recommend definitely if you are prepared for some pop ups that might be a little spooky!

    9.5/10 stars

This film was...okay. To be honest, it was underwhelming for me. Just average. Maybe because I was expecting something more, like regarding the truth about Yoo Ri's bestfriend for example. Some parts of the story weren't clarified. There were some funny moments though, like when she ripped his shirt when she got drunk and the end scene between the old guy friend of Jo Gu (sorry, don't know what his role was) and the ghost best friend. The "horror" is a lot like in Master's Sun i.e. not seriously scary. Overall, I'd give it a 5.5-6/10.
