There isn't much that I can add to what has already been expressed in other reviews here: the plot isn't new, nor unpredictable, the acting is good albeit a little over the lines, the dialogues are witty but definitely not deep, the music is fine enough. On a mere objective level, this drama is decent.

And yet, I loved it! I marathoned through it in a couple of days, and enjoyed every episode. I laughed, smiled, grinned. One may object that a drama is either good and to our liking, or it isn't. But the reasons why I like watching something aren't always as clear-cut and defined as I would like to think: I can remain cold in front of a masterpiece, and be enthusiastic of a piece of trinkets.
Hence my tepid marks, which reflect what I hope is an unbiased estimation, not the degree of my liking it.

Fact is, I truly loved the characters. Kohei, the bodyguard played by Nishijima Hidetoshi, is incredibly endearing. I had never seen this actor on screen before and at first sight I thought he was the complete opposite of an eye-candy. But his character is so sweet and lovable, I ended up liking him a lot. Kim Tae Hee, whom I could barely tolerate in My Princess, is adorable here, contributing factor the Japanese language, which renders her voice deeper and more pleasant.
The great actor Takanabe is hilarious. He seems vain and utterly stupid, but we soon discover he hides his own complex, and from that moment on, I dare everyone not to root for him, if not as a lover, at least as a friend and professional actor.
All the other characters do a good job, including Taecyeon, who surprised me with his very good Japanese. The bad guys aren't given enough screen time to get on our nerves.

The music is fine, mostly in the second half of the drama.

Surprisingly, I think I'll rewatch this drama one day. It was a perky watch, which I recommend to whomever is in need of something light, funny, romantic without being melodramatic or mushy.

Kim Tae Hee dramas have always been a hit or miss; some I liked (My Princess); some I hated (Stairway to Heaven, too freaking sad) and some I'm just indifferent to (Iris and Jang Ok Jung); however, this drama I found on a fluke and absolutely loved it; from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised at the story. It kind of reminds you (somewhat) of the The Bodyguard without the dangerous backdrop. This was my first Hidetoshi drama as I have a lot of his dramas on my watchlist but now I have something to look forward to as his acting was solid. The drama was a joint Korean and Japanese production and a nice surprise side story with Taecyon as Yuna's long lost brother.

To be honest, it seemed like this drama was a vehicle for Kim Tae Hee in Japan, after her success in "My Princess". The plot was nothing unique neither was it executed amazingly. The plot is quite simple: A Hallyu actress falls in love with her bodyguard while in Japan.

Nishijima Hidetoshi is a lovely actor but there wasn't that much that he could really do with his role. Kim Tae Hee was adorable but her Japanese dialogue did seem to be a bit repetitive after a while.

For me the highlight of the drama was Sasaki Kuranosuke's character. He was hilarious as the actor with a hidden complex who views Nishijima as both his rival and his friend. The bromancey scenes were my favorite ones.

Also, I really loved "Superman" by Crystal Kay ... it's such a sweet song and totally fits the drama.

Honestly, this drama played it quite safe. It didn't really look at the social issues (and tensions) between South Korea and Japan. It would have been nice to see some dialogue about the Hallyu wave as well.

"Boku to Star ..." may be a predictable drama but it is still fluffy and cute.

Strange Love Story

I liked this series enough to watch all ten episodes in a couple of days—nine of which I enjoyed. Kim Tae Hee was perfect for this quirky story of a superstar actress and her bodyguard. She gave the whole series style and beauty with her emotional performance. The supporting actors were also great. However, Nishijima Hidetoshi’s performance as her bodyguard was a little over the top. The comedy aspect of his character left him looking a little weird and less of a love connection. The love story missed the mark completely. Not because of the acting but rather the storyline. The final episode left me flat. It almost felt like they couldn’t think of an ending, so they did the easy thing. It left me with a wrong impression of the entire story, which is a shame because it flowed well up until then. I agree that the two characters came from different worlds but saying they love each other while one is a hermit at an observatory in the country and the other is traveling the world doesn’t work for me. I concede that others may have a different opinion of the ending, so watch it and judge it yourself.

i really liked this for the first 6 episodes. after that it gets less and less interesting with every epsisode, i probably wont watch the last one unless i have nothing else to do one day. the two male leads are superb, as is the supporting cast for the most part. the theme song is infectious and i DARE you not to smile when you hear it. where it all falls apart is Kim Tae Hee and her character Yuna. the only other thing i have seen her in is my princess so i cant make sweeping statements about her abilities but in both dramas she has two settings, laughing or crying and all other emotions are simply very slight deviations from these. in this drama she fell flat and it was made worse by very poor character development and poor writing which seemed to be isolated to her character alone. in all honesty she has 10 lines that just keep getting repeated throughout the course of the show.

Although I haven't finished the drama yet I found myself really liking it.

You will enjoy this drama if you don't take it seriously.
What I mean is just relax and watch. Enjoy the comedy and the slow innocent romance. Also don't expect the unexpected because you will probably see them coming.

This drama resembles a harem romance anime if you have seen one. One male character and 3 girls falling for him. two are just background characters that don't really get much screen time and one is focused a lot.

The characters in this show are so lovable.
+ main girl- just so nice and innocent. She is a bit bratty at first, but that side of her gets really cute. She kinda is a little bit of a tsundere (acts tough and mean towards the one she likes) character. She is also an idol.

+main guy- saves the day, clumsy, very very very dense when it comes to romance because he is only into stars ( the ones in the sky not the ppl on tv ).

I liked the soundtrack as well and due to the cuteness and innocence of this drama I would watch it again later on when I am bored.

Boku To Star No 99 Nichi is a typical drama of a 'least likely to fall in love' couple, with encompassing themes such as "love conquers all" and all that drama. I was kind of expecting something different despite the cliched plot since it was notably a Japanese-Korean drama, and it was Kim Tae Hee who's starring, one of my faves. Their characters are too superficial and too much defined, that anyone could have guessed the whole story if they watch halfway. This drama is just too ordinary, I guess.

THE BEST & PURE DRAMA I HAVE EVER WATCHED

I highly recommend you to watch this drama series. It packed with everything you need in a fun-full & emotional movie. Character building is amazing. If you are drama movie lover, you will watch it again & again once you watch it. Actress is so beautiful, that's why she was the best suited for that character. The communication & understanding between You-Na San and Namiki Kohei was wonderful. I loved every bit of this series. Once You start watching this, you will always be in any emotional state as which that scene emotion carries throughout that whole scene.

i really had a great expectations for this drama
but i got frustrated and lost my interest starting from ep.05

i saw many negative points in this drama

generally :
they slap each other too much and so much in a humiliating way in my opinion
i didn't see this funny in any way
always the ML got punched or being hit
i didn't see him clumsy or spontaneous ... i saw him stupid

and kids didn't respect at all older people in this drama
and this is so abnormal for the japanese traditions
and there are lots of selfish people in this drama more than enough which provoked me so much

specially:
i found the ML character so horrible
Senseless, selfish, weak, coward, soooooooooooooo negative and irresponsible
and the FL sacrificing too much for unworthy person

the logical reaction towards that son of a B**** corrupt journalist
is to report him to the police
making a trap for him and accusing him with blackmail and threatening
this is not the freedom of journalism at all this is totally F****** dirty person

and the Snd ML was selfish also by trying to direct the FL to love him by force

the characters from my opinion was abnormal in their reactions and attitudes

And finally i saw the romance in it was very cold and lukewarm
this is really frustrating
