One of my favorite beginnings

It's been a while, but I watched this when it first came out. The first episode struck every chord with me, and after watching it again 5 years later, it still hits me.

I think the reason is because the first episode does an excellent job of creating a sense of nostalgia among the characters. Set in the 70s, the first few episodes are basically a huge flashback sequence that sets up the rest of the series.

This episode is not complicated at all. In fact, it's highly traditional, down to the love triangle and straightforward dialogue. The timidity and vacillation of the characters does well to evoke a sense of a different time, a "simpler" time.

This drama's soundtrack is among my favorites as well. Melancholy, classical, sweet and endearing. Another contributor to the sense of nostalgia.

To be fair, I enjoy slower dramas that focus more on subtly and expression more than dialogue. For example, whereas not as many people enjoyed the drama Summer Scent because of its slow pace and development, I had a blast with it.

I enjoyed the 70s portion of the drama much more than the modern setting that begins in episode 5.

Good Start...

I don't like melodramas and I was hesitated to actually watch it. I was expecting silly misunderstandings and infuriating scenes, but I was wrong. This episode blew up my expectations. The scenes, costumes, colors and the characters were so pulling. I liked how 1970 was portrayed in this episode, how people dressed, thought and lived and I liked how In Ha's thoughts were narrated once in a while. First episode was great for a melodrama. I hope the rest of the drama continue like this...

Clarity Confusion

Personally i feel that the episode could've had more filling, a lot of the scenes were scenes where they are just staring at a person or running after a person. It moved a bit slowly for my taste too, I like something that has more speed to it, but not too fast like Ma Boy. I wish the story was brought forward more clearly too. I understand that most of the guys fell in love with Kim Yoon Hee and that she is actually in love with Seo In Ha, but the story didn't come across as clearly as it could have. I hope the story gets better though...

Great first episode!

It was a lovely episode, filled with cute and romantic moments. Set in the 1970s, we could catch a glimpse of how people in Seoul were living during that time (the fashion, the popularity of radio, students' life, but also some details such as police controlling the length of girls' skirts and cutting the boys' long hair). I like the colours in this drama :) Also, one little detail - a yellow diary and a yellow umbrella, will it be their colour? :)

However, I must say it was really painful for me to watch two people that obviously like each other, but decide to keep quiet about it, because of other people. And I guess confessing was more difficult 40 years ago...

thanks for the warning, but...

...I was not bored. I think warnings about the slow pace helped me know what to expect, so I ended up really liking this episode. It's certainly not exciting, but it sets up the characters and conflicts nicely. The two leads are so frustrating to watch, but it's also endearing to watch their one-sided love for each other.

I have a feeling this will be a moody romance, not a giggling cute-fest, which I am looking forward to.

Good Set Up

The first episode does exactly what it is supposed to do...Set the scene, introduce the characters and begin the storytelling. I hooked enough to be very curious to see how the past world is going to set up the future...

The cinematography really sets a new bar. Everything is warm, colorful and green. I love the little touches; the set design and costume that really puts you back into the 70's. Korea or US...It feels real. Good Show.

Sucked Me In.....

The first episode had gotten my attention and it never lost it once. I find that rare I'm usually always getting distracted while watching dramas. It's very interesting. I sense possible greatness from this drama. I hope it doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to start watching the next episode.

Caught my attention..

This drama seems to be very interesting from the first scenes.
In Ha has a really good personality,he's just a bit too shy :D
But as fo Jang Geun Suk it's a great change for the characters he usually plays.. :)
Both main actors are really attractive and nice. I could say that this storyline does capture the watcher's heart because there're no "bad" characters. They are all good people, whose feelings seems to be just a bit messed up.. :D

Promising ^_^

Okay, I just watched the 1st ep and it seems promising so far. I really like Jang Geun Seok's character because it's different from his other characters he's portrayed before. He's shy and awkward at times which makes him cute in my opinion ^_^ I've heard from other comments that they don't really care for Im Yoon Ah but this is my 1st time watching her in a drama so I really don't know. She seems to be doing good so far. Since I'm only judging from the 1st ep, I can't say much, but I really hope this drama turns out to be great as it goes along ^_^.

Not a bad start....

Hmmm...Love at first sight. I don't believe in it. However, I do believe in another-4-letter-word-which-also-begins-with "l" at first sight. But I guess I'll have to suspend my disbelief. He pissed me off because he didn't speak up and his friend was also getting on my nerves because of wanting help from someone else...Do it yourself!! But I really liked it.

melodrama...*sigh*

The episode somehow reminded me of the k-movie "the classic". For me the episode was a bit slow and had a heavy feel. The story so far is more or less pretty obvious...I wanted more things to happen... but overall it was good. The story will pick up in the coming episodes.

Nice episode

The first episode was cute. I liked that 70's air. The clothes, the taxis and the busses, and even the student's behaviour got me into that atmosphere. I liked some qoutes :D. And the director's style is something new for me ^^.
But it was a bit rushed, even if I felt like nothing really happened..
I look forward to watch the next episode, I hope it's going to be better than the first one.

Passive Personalities!!!

There wasn't much dialogue, but the episode didn't need it. The emotion got through without all the words. The bad thing about ep 1? Passive Personalities!!! The sort of personalities that don't fight for what they want, and just others walk all over them, and it would be ok if one person had that personality, but the thing is that both the leads have the same personality!! I would like to see the leads stick up for themselves a little more in the next episode.

Less talking, more heart fluttering moments ^^

I just can see this director's style... The feelings I had while watching the first episode were very similar to the ones I had while watching Spring Waltz... romance has this drama in her possession...haha~ I can already feel the sadness, though...
