Ditto focuses on a female university student from 1979 who begins talking via HAM radio with another student from her school. They hope to meet, but through a series of misunderstandings she begins to realize that the other student lives in the year 2000. This bit of the supernatural serves as the foundation for an exchange between these two, who are separated by 20 years during which their culture has been transformed.

Although the story-line wasn't very creative I thought I should give it a try. I really like Yoo Ji Tae movies, and for once I needed to see him as a "good guy" :) He likes to play "dark characters to much for mine taste.

Let's start with good thing about this movie- music. It's really heart touching. And that will be it. Of course movie had some good moments but not read more enough. Connection between main leads was decent.

As for bad things, acting, story etc - Yoon So character was annoying beyond I could imagine. I never once felt that she's in love. And as for Ji-In character it was not so bad, but still not enough. I felt like I'm watching amateurish movie with actors that are trying to express their characters a little to much and they just missed opportunity to do well.

Overall I got feeling that this movie wasn't well thought through.

These two Korean fantasy romance movies are both centred around a love story between two people in different times.

In Il Mare they communicate with each other via letters through a magic post box, and in Ditto they talk via HAM radio.

Both of these films focus on love that can never be. Ditto has more story to it whereas Classmates doesn't really have an in depth story, but both films are very good.

In my opinion I liked the story-line. The way the movie was put together had to make you watch it until the end to see the twist in the story.
But I agree with TIITEK that the acting was unfortunately not even near the average level...

Sounds like they used the idea from Frequency, except there was a plotlinme about father and son. Hmm.

So that's what the american movie was called. When I heard the plotline for the first time, "Frequency" popped up in my mind immediately.

is it a remake or something? because when I checked Frequency it was released in April 2000, and this one was in May 2000!

the only thing similar with Frequency and Ditto are
      1. The 2 protagonist (different time) communicating w/ the use of the radio thing (i forgot what should i call it)
      2. so minimal to mention

...Frequency was more entertaining but w/ so corny and and trying to hard to be complex and the results was it became more kids fairytail than a good poignant comprehensive scifi (1st half..very good..2nd half exciting mess w/ force ending)
