I recently came across the song translations (as I watch the drama raw) and I thought it might be interesting to point out that the the ost's for the drama were written with the characters in mind.
Hu Ge's Please live well is about Jiu Ye and Xin Yue: https://dramatictealeaves.wordpress.com/2014/09/21/song-translation-please-live-well-da-mo-yao-sound-of-the-desert/
Li Jian Qing's Pacifying the world for you (ie. the opening credits song) is about Wei Wu Ji and Xin Yue: https://dramatictealeaves.wordpress.com/2014/10/04/sound-of-the-desert-song-translation-the-world-ive-pacified-for-you/

The names in synopsis and names in cast are different, why ?

    • Reply
      SweetAngelCake 16 days ago

The names in the synopsis refer to the names from the novel and are of real historical figures. Due to the representation of Huo Qu Bing, the names had to be renamed.

Oh ok thx googled Huo Qu Bing. What is the reason Chinese dramas cant use names of their historical figures?

Not all Chinese dramas are restricted from using historical figures, in fact many dramas focus on them. In this particular case, the novel that this drama is adapted from creates a semi fictional world, by borrowing main events and figures. This angered many people as they felt that Huo Qu Bing was misrepresented, thus the names were changed and all alluding references were modified in the drama. Unless its historically accurate the same names can't be used. Thanks for the explanation.

It's so addictive, this drama! I don't know if it's Eddie Peng or Wei Wu Ji who I adore but every scene he's in I absolutely love automatically.
Hu Ge ain't bad either but Mo Xun's repressed emotions aren't my style. Give me the impulsive and badass Wu Ji any day :D

So glad Hu Ge's character is out the picture now so that Xin Yue and Wei Wu Ji can have more on-screen time together. Been waiting ages for this moment! Love Hu Ge, but his character is so boring and such a downer. Loving the Liu Shi Shi and Eddie Peng moments!

He is supposed to be cold towards other people, but not towards her. Then he is more cheeky.

i forgot, cold was fourth prince in scarlet heart, he changed a little but it was more realistic. also Mei Xi yong or crown prince in the virtuous imperial concubine, not as cold but still realistic, of recent three musketeers crown prince, i wouldn't call him cold but he is something.

Actually liking it so far, especially the OSTs. But somehow, Xin Yue in this drama reminds me of Ruo Xi in BBJX...

2 dramas are adapted from different novels from the same author... yeah you can see why... but technically xin yue is more likeable than ruo xi

why is that the official OST and the opening/ending of chinese dramas ALWAYS have sooooo many spoilers!!! Even though I try to avoid watching these OST from begining to end... I feel I already know everything. Who will end up with who, and even who will die etc... so sad :,<

Well, most historical dramas are based off books or actual legends, etc. So they expect everyone (Chinese) to know the story already [especially if it's a book adaptation, since they only make adaptations from popular books], which also shows how they don't really put much focus on international viewers who aren't Chinese.
For this drama, they even released an hour long trailer that documents beginning to end of the story so everything is already known ~

Agree, it's the same for almost all chinese dramas. For Lan Ling Wang, all the scenes in opening and ending are like all the good moments, i mean they don't need to put too much spoilers in it. Like you said, viewers pretty much know who's gonna end up with who.

I saw two first episodes: 59 minute version I found awaful, because the pace of narration was very chaotic, but 46 minute version was very good (extensive scenes looked more logical)
