We can start with the story. Already from the start, the story plot had me twisting in anticipation. At the most time when I thought I knew what was going to happen, it was the opposite. It is a very beautiful story, at the same time, it is kinda scary as it shows the darker side of the human nature.

I like the cast very much. I feel like the main characters read more had a excellent chemistry. Both of the male leaders portrayed their characters very well. And Xin Yue was also great.

I also enjoyed the music. At first, I didn't like the Bai Tou Yin by Della Ding as the music was a bit odd. But you grow to like the two songs by her as they play throughout the whole drama. Also, the opening song is also very nice and has really meaningful lyrics. Definitely a 10 from me!

Actually, I have rewatched this drama two times, and every single time I just couldn't stop watching. Even though I already seen it before. It is just so good.

Overall, I think they have made an excellent drama! I feel like the clothing and scenery was quite nice. I definitely recommend this one to everyone that loves for example Prince of Lan Ling, which is also one of my favorite drama.

I began watching this because I like the female lead (same lady as Bu Bu Jing Xin) and was quite readily drawn into the story with 2 good looking guys vying for her attention. This is a period drama and the costumes and settings were quite impressive - I'm no expert but the sets, the dress, the accessories, mannerisms etc all looked excellent to me. I quite fancied doing a time warp read more thing to try it out!

Storyline? I liked it and the action and story developed well through all the many episodes - many times I felt like I was in the female lead's role and agonising over all the ups and downs and loving it all........until the final episode, when I felt it was a bit of a letdown. I'd like to request the writer/author/director to review the story and re-do it in a much better way, keep all the viewers happy!

I particularly liked the explanations of the plot coming through as "thoughts"in the actor's heads, which are helpful to those like me who don't really have much of a concept of ancient Chinese history or culture, and who really got lost sometimes along the way, due to archaic Chinese sayings etc that needed explaining.

Anyway, this is a good drama and I'd recommend it - the 36 episodes will go by in a jiffy and you won't notice the time as you follow the twists and turns along the way.

The idea of finding that ideal love whom you can sacrifice a lot applies to both. They both have strong female leads, and plenty of twists in the plot to keep you interested.

Sound of the Desert is the prequel to Cloud Song.
Cloud Song, although has different costumes and actors portraying each character, is written by Tong Hua also. Both series are great, so far.

I found this drama so great it continues to move me long after I've finished watching it. I am really satisfied with the end...But why oh why I still feel that lingering ache in my heart? Because true love endures...(sigh)

I love Chinese historical movies but I never thought I'd fall into Chinese historical dramas. It's quite addictive actually, especially when it's well written like this one :)

Rewatching this for the ... I've lost count already. But seriously this is one of those dramas that made me super thankful I've found it. I thought I shipped Mo Xun because he was the interest exposed first but after watching this series many times over I still find myself shipping Ninth Lord- Xin Yue!! Forever shipping these two and Hu Ge as Mo Xun is just one of the most poignantly beautiful characters everrr

I just want to know if it has a happy ending. I dont mind a few tragedies but I feel like most of these dramas everyone just starts dying one by one and the ending feels unsatisfactory.

Hu Ge is so damn good at portraying sick/weak/disabled characters! Does he intentionally pick these roles? But damn does he do it well and very convincingly. I love him in Sound of Desert and Nirvana in Fire <33 Please do more of these intelligent roles and don't go back to roles of brawn but no brain.

I prefer Hu Ge in these kind of roles too! Personally like him better as the intelligent yet mature, frail characters. Many people were soo ANGRY before the drama aired as Hu Ge who was originally supposed to be Wei Wu Ji became Jiu Ye instead, and some were even on the borderline of boycotting the drama when final cast had it as Eddie Peng officially replacing Hu Ge for the role of Wei Wu Ji. I can't be any happier with how the final product turned out ! Definitely can't judge book by its cover.

Again another great Chinese drama for me. I totally loved the settings, the costumes, the acting, the story and the music...and the fact that throughout the many episodes it was impossible to predict how it would end. Some parts were a little unrealistic but they didn't matter as I felt like I was watching a romantic and adventurous tale the whole time. I might rewatch this in the future as it was so beautiful.

I dropped this. The reasons are entirely shallow - the main leads did not interact until ep4, and even then, minimally. The palace stuff took too much time and was boring. Also, there was a character who got too much screen time and irritated me.

I watched this because it has high ratings and was recommended on Prince of Lan Ling's page. This is nothing like Lan Ling, and in the first 7 episodes, nowhere near as romantic. I got bored waiting and frustrated trying to stick it out to see anything interesting. The only think I liked was how the character of Xin Yu grew stronger, but that was full of plot holes too.
