The title speaks for itself - "Absolute Boyfriend" (the English translation). Idealism was precisely incorporated in having an ideal partner including what people really wants from his/her partner. It also showed the reality that nothing stays the same hundred percent. People tend to change including their wants because of their environment and the situation they are into.

This series had one of the best figurative interpretation on how to love someone selflessly. It came to a point when I felt like how can a robot be more human than me in forsaking oneself due to the love for someone. And then I asked myself, "Can I be like him? Can I love someone selflessly?"

Have your tissues/hankies ready at the last quarter of the series.

I adore this drama. When i first heard about it I was a bit torn about whether to watch it or not. A human falling in love with a robot? No thankyou. However, I'm so glad I did!

The plot might seem silly but its actually really good and heart warming. Its about teaching someone how to love. Even though the plot is a bit far fetched its still believable and thats one of the main things I love.

The acting is good, however I've never been a huge fan of Hayami Mokomichi and find his acting a bit lacking. I will admit I was biased and mostly watched this for Mizushima Hiro.

When I started to watch this drama, I gave it "7" at the beginning. The characters were older than in original story, and the first two episodes felt like "yet another 'rom-com' story". I must admit that the story grew on me very much with every episode that I watched.

The Cast was great. If you find most of main actresses annoying or 'weak' in character, in this drama you will find a different character. Role of Aibu Saki is refreshing and sweet, but definitely not annoying. I can't be objective about Mizushima Hiro, so ... for me he was as good as always. And finally - Hayami Mokomichi. He was great in depicting the robot. Of course his moves were strenghten with specific sounds but still, through the whole series he even always blinked automatically.

When it comes to music, you don't hear it much mainly because of focusing on the plot (at least that was the case for me). But Ayaka's theme song "Okaeri" has certain strenght to it, and it will definitely grow on everyone (especially combined with perfectly done visuals at the end of each episode).

After some time, I feel like I would like to come back to this title very much, and that does not happen often.

I think there is something special in many Japanese dramas. How even seemingly simple stories capture your attention, your mind, your heart. Thanks to great acting, great plot, nice theme song... Zettai Kareshi, in my opinion, is one of those memorable titles. Definitely WORTH seeing.

I never expected I'd like this drama so much, I mean love with a robot seemed weird, but as soon as I watched the first 2 episodes, I really understood the angle this drama explored and I fell in love with it!
I was glued to my pc and watched the bloody thing in a day and a half , it was that captivating for me lol.
What I enjoyed was the great acting, I found most roles were distributed quite well, especially the leads. The multitude of funny moments were stellar, as well as the ' awww, so cute!' moments, because it is more than a robot discovering its human feelings, it's about a human discovering it's humanity and true self with the help of a robot, and that made it such a captivating story.
The ending was perfect, although I wept like a baby, even more than I did after watching 49 days, I think, I was just sucked into the story really well, and although it was a sad ending, it was well suited and perfect.
A word of advice : DO NOT WATCH THE SPECIAL !!!!!!!! It was a huge disappointment to me, it ruins the whole story and it has a very weak script.

I originally read the manga, but it's been about 3 years or so since I read it. The most I remember about it are the main details, such as Riiko being a high school student. That's part of the reason it took me so long to come around to watching this drama - in this drama she's not only not a student, but she's older and working in an office job! I was a little iffy about the change in the story, but after watching it I have to say I was surprised. I found myself loving this drama and I watched it in 2 days! What I loved is that even though they changed things about the story - they adapted to that change! Meaning the characters didn't change much (personality wise) from what I remember. And I found it to be a good drama, funny in parts - sad in others. It made me want to reread the manga, because the original will always be the best. But as for a live adaption of this sort of story, they pulled it off well.

The acting was good! I've seen Aibu Saki in Buzzer Beat, and while I didn't like her character there I felt her character here was a lot more likeable and she pulled off the role of Riiko well. Mizushima Hiro I've also seen and remember him most as Nanba-senpai in Hana-Kimi. While his role there was more comedic, I found myself loving his version of Soshi. Hayami Mokomichi I've also seen in Gokusen 2 - I remember him most as "the tall guy" haha. But his role here and his role there are completely different. Then again, he is pulling off the role of a robot and I think he did a good job as Night! The cast might not have been who I might've expected, there might have been better people out there to pull of the roles, but I felt they did a good job!

The music was nice, the theme song "Okaeri" by Ayaka grew on me with each episode and now I love it!

I can see myself rewatching this drama again sometime, but not anytime soon (my plan to watch list is out of hand haha).

Overall - if you've recently read the manga I wouldn't recommend watching this version - at least not anytime soon. Unless you're the type that likes new adaptions and seeing a different story. I myself have a hard time watching something based off of a manga if the storyline is really different.

And if you haven't read it - then I recommend it if you're in the mood to watch something a little light and a bit unrealistic. Ohh and there are sad parts as well. The story focuses not just on the relationship between Riiko and Night, but between her job and Soshi. There isn't a ton of romance, but there's enough to make it a rom-com (:

This is a drama worth watching.

This drama is more than just a robot that is programmed to love your partner. It's about learning and teaching how to love someone and how to receive love in return. Love is not just about being there all the time but it is the memories and legacy you leave behind when you are not around.

Just to warn viewers who are thinking of watching it, prepare lots of tissue. This show will sure make you cry!!

I got lucky in that this is the first drama I ever watched. It turned me into an addict. I was hooked on the manga, but that doesn't quite compare to this. The manga is good, but I think that this adaptation is better.

It's easier to understand the relationship dynamics between her and the robot. The acting is phenomenal. The plot is addictive and after you watch it you'll wish you could have a robot boyfriend.

The music is good and I've re-watched it a few times, but I have to set aside a weekend to marathon it, because it's hard to stop watching. I know that there are remakes coming out this year, but I'll be surprised if they can hold up to this standard.

Like I said, it got me hooked, which is probably the best recommendation I can give if you haven't seen it. This is a great first drama because it's not too serious and it's filled with heart.

"Love is the start of everything miraculous."
- Namikiri Gaku

That quote sums up what this whole drama is about. At first glance, the concept of Zettai Kareshi might seem quite silly or even stupid to most. A robot and a human being falling in love? How dumb does that sound! Well, if you move beyond just the surface and pay close attention to all the layers underneath, you'll discover a truly heartwarming story about how love is the start of all miracles. Anything is possible through love, and this drama is just another showcasing of that.

All of the characters are likeable, my favorite being Night. The acting left nothing to be desired and was pretty believable. The music was excellent and went very nicely with the theme of this drama. Okaeri is one of the most memorable songs I've ever heard in a drama.

Zettai Kareshi/Absolute Boyfriend was the very first Asian drama I ever watched, and it is the one that started my love for Asian dramas. I was feeling nostalgic so I decided to rewatch this drama. This is probably my fourth rewatch, and I feel exactly the same as when I first watched it. Except, now I feel like I have a greater understanding of the message this drama was trying to convey and I absolutely love it.

When I was first rating this drama, I gave it a 9. I couldn't really decide if it deserved a 9 or something higher, so I rewatched it to make up my mind.
I have absolutely no complaints with this drama. None at all. It was just as funny as I remembered, maybe even more so. It is so heartwarming and truly touched my heart. The ending to this drama (and I'm talking about just the drama, not the special) was perfect. PERFECT! I gave the rewatch value a 10 because I could honestly rewatch this drama a hundred times over. And I'm not the type who enjoys rewatching things.
I shed a couple tears at the very end of this drama. My rating is 10/10. If your an asian drama viewer, or even if your not, WATCH IT. It's definitely worth it. Just remember to keep an open mind.

Story- Very different but entertaining. It was fun watching the main female character deal with this robot man. The ending was heartbreaking.

Acting/Cast- The acting was perfect and I loved all the characters. The female lead had great chemistry with both guys. I liked the supporting charatcers.

Music- It was very good.

Rewatch- I would watch this again cause the story was different and I liked the whole cast a lot.

Overall this is a stand out J drama.

the first episode ir really promising. i almost wish it had not been. everything after that is just "okay".

i watched this show because i wanted to see a show about a robot, not a show about what goes on in the office at a weird bakery. they could have completely forgone the robot and opted instead for a slightly stupid but sweet overzealous love interest and ended up with practically the same story since very little of it was actually about him being a robot. there's a love triangle that is completely devoid of chemistry and a story that draaaaags until the last 3 episodea, and even those i found my self skipping large sections.

they didnt even bother to avoid the over obvious and cliche for most of the show.

This was the drama that did it for me. I got hooked on j-dramas and k-dramas, but this one was the first one I was really obsessed with. Even now I get all teary when I hear "Okaeri".
It's a great story to watch, but mind you, future viewers, it's not just a silly sexy-robot-boyfriend-like-comedy. It gets pretty sad towards the end so do prepare a few boxes of tissues!
All in all, the story was great, acting great as well (although I'm not the biggest fan of Aibu Saki...), music is good as well! I can't rewatch it because I know where it's going and I'd rather be surprised by a new drama, I guess. It's a great story anyway, I highly recommend it!

when reading the manga the story was so amazing I could spend days reading it. However the drama failed at it as they missed soo many important things that happened in the story that made it so good. Originally the main character Riiko was a high school girl however I pretty much liked the fact she was an adult n the fact she was working at the company. Also in manga Riiko was way closer to Soshi than in the drama. Also the way actor played Night was weird he looked too much like a robot i know he was supposed to be one but he's movements were far from natural or even close to a perfect boyfriend up to the point he started to piss me off.The whole plot happened too fast as her feelings changed in like minutes. At first I was really dissapointed with the story the only thing that kept me from watching this drama was Hiro as he did an amazing job as Soshi. The whole thing wasnt the best but I still enjoyed it guess just expected too much from manga n how i said just they missed some stuff out..
