And Then There Was Romance

Episode 2 continues along the same strong vein as Episode 1, with consistent humor, steady pacing, good world-building, and even more mystery.

The speed with which Eun Oh manages to figure out who Arang is bothers me. I hoped that the story would focus more on the mystery and intrigue of figuring out who she is. It's almost too good to be true with how quickly he found her identity.

Joo Wal is gaining my attention quite a bit. I can't exactly tell if he's a serial killer or a werewolf (issues with the full moon? That's can't be normal), but he is interesting. He's shady, but even when he attacks the gisaeng, you can tell he's feeling some fear and guilt. I want to see more of him and learn more of his story.

The part with the ghosts fighting over the gosure was really cool to me (and not because of the wire acrobatics). I like that they explained further just how much it sucks to be ghost who doesn't know their family, or doesn't have family to offer them food in the first place. It shows us the pain and struggle Arang has experienced for the past three years.

I actually really enjoy the attempts at being funny. It's not quite the level of the silly sight-gags that are found in the Naked Gun movies, but it reminds me of that same type of humor. Plenty of folks in the town think that Eun Oh is completely nuts. The parts where Min Ah is not present and Joon Gi has to pretend he's being dragged around are delightful in my opinion. There's not a lot of funny stuff, but there's enough.

The romance is really speedy. Eun Oh and Arang went from 0 to 100 in no time at all, and I've got to say, I've got quite the romantic whiplash. Still, even though it was quick, I think it can be forgiven. Eun Oh is the first person who has been able to see, hear, and touch Arang in three years. Because of this, she has an outpouring of emotion toward this guy, who has saved her from a reaper, discovered her identity, and even paid for her to have a new dress and jewelry (despite the fact that's he's the only person that can see her). I can completely understand why she would so quickly fall in love with him, and while that means the romantic pacing is a little wonky, it also adds to more color to their relationship. It makes it a little more unique.

The Kings of Heaven and Hell are still hilarious.

I think this show is setting itself on a very good path. I can only hope for the best.

Spoilsport

Everything is good. The suspense, the pace, the interaction between the characters and all that.. If only, somebody would reduce the amount of makeup on Lee Jun Ki's face :/ uhh..I really like his natural face, but every time i tried to look I would inadvertently flinch from his overly pinkish lips :((

*Sigh*

More Fake Chinese drama fantasy effects... Aigooo, this is so not my week when it comes to dramas...

I hate the silly, "funny" scenes in the drama. I guess I was glaring at the TV because my sister kept asking me why I was looking at the TV like that if the music sounded like the kind where I'm at least supposed to be smiling. I couldn't help myself. Shiro!

But I do like the more serious ones. The romantic element is also happening too fast for my taste. If it keeps going like that, it will be bearable enough to watch, but it definitely won't get a high rating for me... I'll wait and see what happens, but I don't think this will be the drama which finally makes me a Lee Jun Ki fan either. I guess I will have to watch any future dramas and movies he makes...

A supernatural blend of greatness

They do not reveal everything, and that's a good thing. But the pace is well on track, and we quickly discover the identity of "Arang." She was the daughter of the ex-magistrate, engaged to someone else, but ran away with an errand boy. I love discovering this with Lee Jun Ki!
Arang's fiance has a disturbing undercurrent, particularly when he flicks a knife out. What's his story? Did he kill her? And then there's the mysterious errand boy...when will he turn up? Is he dead also?
Fantastic start to a supernatural series, and already stands head and shoulders above the rest. If it's anything like Iljimae...we're in for a treat! (With better romance this time)

LOVE!!!!

This show is just brilliant! I can't wait to see where this goes now that they know who Arang is. I'm still speculating about the guy in the pink, but I like that I don't have the answers yet. It's giving me a lot to think about.

Also, this drama is so funny! I love the chemistry between Shin Min Ah and Lee Jun Ki...oooh and a maybe kiss??? I can't wait for next week!

I love this!

Omg! I'm in love with this show now! This episode was amazing. They found out who she is but I think that guy in the pink that almost killed that other woman with the knife has something to do with Arang's death. But was he her fiance? Why is he looking for her? Did he kill her because she ran away? In the preview they will find her body in next week's episode can't wait. Seems like a lot of secrets will uncover, I love the main leads so cute together

Wowzer!!!!

I'm loving the way the character lines are developing and how though we now know who Arang is, we still don't know the circumstances of her disappearance. And lordy lordy do Jun Ki and Min Ah have some major chemistry brewing between their characters. This is going to be one very sizzling and interesting love story. Ughhh and how frusterating is it that the fiance has some major secrets involving the full moon. I can't wait for more!
