Jealousy and opulence color this unyielding revenge melodrama. Set in the sphere of classical music and instrument construction, Five Fingers also brings a unique shade to the genre. It is emotionally engaging, riveting, and downright infuriating on occasion. Unfortunately it suffers from taking too long in set-up episodes, but once it kicks off, does it ever -- only to lose steam in the final stretch.

Joo Ji Hoon will be the initial read more draw for many. His performance as Yoo Ji Ho is tremendous fun. While the character starts off ridiculously trusting and naive, his development in the second half more than makes up for it. This point is also where Ji Hoon settles into his element. Seemingly improved from Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Ji Chang Wook plays a precariously balanced role with ease. I wanted to hate his Yoo In Ha, but couldn't completely; he was such a pitiable man and, in another life, things might have been different. The three veteran actresses portraying the mothers were also compelling, Chae Si Ra in particular. It must have been difficult pulling off such a complicated character like Young Rang.

Music may be considered another star in Five Fingers. There were many pleasing vocals, including a sad theme by Ji Chang Wook himself: "Fills My Heart." Lim Jeong Hee's "Don't Love Me" seemed to play the most and nearly brought me to tears once or twice. Classical and original instrumentals pepper the rest of the scenes. These work marvelously to amplify their impact and while dynamic, never bring the action over into the cheesy.

Viewers should be aware that Five Fingers deals in themes of domestic abuse and portrays one of the most dysfunctional families ever to grace the screen. The portion before the time skip can be a little hard to watch, and personally my emotions were all over the place.

I had to write a review because the only review here really does not do this drama justice. This has to be one of the best thought out revenge dramas I have ever watched. When this drama starts out, it does make you wonder when the turn of events will happen because of all the evil that takes place; but when it does (around ep17/18), it is a welcomed change of events. read more The story line is awesome, the music is awesome, the acting is awesome and I only gave it a 9 because of the lack of chemistry in the romance department. Rewatch value is a 5 because when you rewatch it, you will pick the episodes you want to watch instead of watching it from start to finish. Overall, I never thought this drama would survive 30 episodes but it has. There has never been a point at which I would want to drop this drama or not watch this drama. I can honestly say that I just may buy it once it comes out on DVD.

Despite the name "Five Fingers" its actually really good. It's also a drama about revenge. It also has the same lead. The main lead plays a sort of instrument in both dramas.

When I watched this the first time I only liked Joo Ji Hoon, didn't know much about Ji chang wook, so I will give it a try again just to see both of them again.

I'm here for the actors, I've watched 5 episodes now... and I'm just asking myself, why do I keep doing this to myself; watch a series that will make me absolutely enraged and want to murder 95% of the characters... xD Ji Chang Wook, my lovely small beautiful bean, is doing the same to me as he did in Empress Ki: Making me awed of his acting skills because as much as I love him, I want to murder the character he plays lol.

I need to continue watch this for Chang Work and the plot isn't bad too but Too Ji Hohns character that happens to be the male lead is annoyingly nice and naive and doesn't deserve the spot light imo. And I don't say this bc I'm Chang Work biased or anything, I also like Ji Hoon. I liked him in Mask and when I think about it now, Ji Hohns character in Mask was similar to Chang Wook's character in here.

I remember i was watching this when it was airing and until this day i didn't see a strong three main acting cast like this in all my life in Korean dramas. Joo Ji Hoon, Ji Chang Wook, Chae Shi Ra those three were so amazing specially Chae Shi Ra she killed it. Jin Se Yeon acting was normal but not amazing.

Totally agree with you, those three just gave a powerful acting performance in this drama. I am become speechless everytime they appear in one screen! They are just mindblowing!

Very good melo makjang drama, the cast did great job (minus Jin Se Yeon). I loved Ji Chang Wook's performance the most. I also loved the mother-son relationship. This is not just pure revenge makjang it also has feelings and it's all about wanting to be loved and having a parent to cherish you and love you. I enjoyed it :)

Very good dialogue in this drama and juicy as hell from start to finish! I started it for ji chang wook but chae shi ra and cha hwa yun's performance made the show for me. this is definitely a drama in which the females took control-especially cha hwa yun with her character as a grandma who tells it like it is! Update: I just wrapped up this show and I gotta say that even though it was a makjang in every way possible, the direction that the writers took at the end of the show really hit the nail on the head for me. even though they knew that some hearts would break due to the tragic ending, they made the decision to execute it anyway because it would add to the drama's integrity. (If you decide to watch this, you will know what I mean by that.) But the ultimate best part about the ending was the fact that the love interest was left behind. Instead of them having a perfect ride into the sunset together, the writers decided that it would be better to keep it real. (the main character's decision to part ways with her was probably the best decision that he ever made!) i would also like to point out that the entire drama as a whole really didn't harp on the fact that he had a first love all that much. and that was a breath of fresh air! anyways in a nutshell i would just like to say that the drama kept me going from start to finish and that i have no regrets in watching this particular makjang!
