Shinsuke Kuwano, a successful architect at 40, enjoys living by himself. He doesn't like people but somehow is able to design wonderful houses for them.
He has a routine of making himself a delicious dinner and then relaxing to classical music in his easy chair while pretending he is the conductor. One night, he plays the music loud enough to make his next door neighbor, Michiru Tamara knock on his door to read morecomplain. When Kuwano answers the door, he suffers a terrible stomach pain and collapses to the floor. Lucky for him, Michiru is nice enough to accompany him to the hospital, where he is treated by Dr. Natsumi Hayasake. He is really rude to Natsumi, but she is still determined to treat him.
Afterwards, Michiru and Natsumi become part of Kuwano's life. They make friends with Kuwano's colleagues Eiji and Maya Sawazaki. They all enjoy talking about how strange and eccentric Kuwano is. Is it possible that someone would ever want to marry him?

This is one of my all time favourite drama and I've watched it 4-5 times already. And every single time, it never got boring!

This drama is very refreshing, very well written and highly entertaining. The synopsis might not really attract you, but just watch it, you'll get drawn into the series in no time at all.

Hiroshi Abe is definitely at his BEST here! He plays Kuwano-san, an accomplished architect who read more is rather quirky and sarcastic and definitely not a people's person. And I gotta say... Abe did a BRILLIANT job portraying this character. His acting here is SUPERB, really. His character is a mix between Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets" and Hugh Laurie of "House M.D."

It is very interesting to see how Abe's character tries to interact with other people in different kind of situations as portrayed throughout the series. I especially love the interaction between him and Ken-chan, the neighbour's dog. If you haven't seen it, I'm telling you, you'll fall in love with Ken-chan, because he is the cutest thing ever!

The actress that plays Hayasaka-san is also amazing. She's able to "balance" Abe's Kuwano and they succesfully created a perfect on-screen chemistry together.

This drama is totally a must see!

the story of this drama is about a peculiar man who is different from the rest of the world in such a way that it completely blocks any chances of getting married. he meets people, and a dog and through his interactions he ends up making friends. it is a rather interesting plot for the time that it aired :3 however ever since i think various similar shows have been made that read more are kind of like this one. Like "Saito-san" and "Magerarenai Onna".

The acting was clearly very good in this drama. even the younger one, kuninaka did very well with her role. not excellently but very well. Abe hiroshi was at his excellence though. clearly he was by far the best in this.

I do not remember the music but i think it complimented the scenes in a way and it fit.

Since this is not a suspence drama and such I think rewatching it would still be entertaining. I have only watched it twice though.

Both ...

-have a quirky - weird - not believe in love/marriage lead characters
-have Ryoko Kuninaka as supporting character
-are offbeat but highly introspective romcoms: you laugh and entertained, but in the same time you will learn about something

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is the original Japanese version of The Man Who Can't Get Married. If you enjoyed one, you will probably enjoy the other!

This was well put together, had all the right actors and actresses, just so well executed, and her line about baseball just got me, wow, a most recommended rewatch over rewatch. Hilarious pretty much from beginning to end. Loved it, the trashy triangle was nipped in the but long before it could go anywhere, but having it 8n there at all lost a huge point, otherwise this would be one for the books.

The main character has really good health insurance to be able to go to the hospital so often for nothing.

One of the best Japanese drama of all time! A timeless classic in my opinion. Too bad they never make a Season 2.

I have to say that "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" isn't usually the type of drama that I would enjoy. But, this is probably one of my top 3 all-time favourite dramas, ever!!

I re-watch this drama at least once a year and it is still just as hilarious as the first time I watched it!!
