If I only had one word to describe "Hundred Years Inheritance", it would be makjang. Two words? REALLY makjang. Seriously, this drama had it all. Birth secrets? Check. Revenge arcs? Hmm... a check? There were two minor ones. Dead firrst loves? Check. A mental hospital? Check. Kind-of sort-of not really incest? Check. Controlling parents? That box has so many checks it's black.
Story: To be honest, I don't really mind makjang as read more long as the writer embraces it whole-heartedly and doesn't try to write off the drama as something else, so I'm glad I got what I expected out of this one. "Hundred Years Inheritance" reminded me a little of "Nice Guy". Both dramas were fun in a soapy way, but there's no way in hell you'd want to *meet* the characters or even interact with them. As long as you don't overthink the story, "Hundred Years" is a fun watch. Full of characters you love to hate and characters you root for despite their personalities. I have to admit, I actually loved the family dynamic in this one. Everyone started out being polite but distant from each other, but gradually came to love and accept this hodgepodge of people as *their* family. That storyline was really gratifying to watch.
Acting: Everyone acted wonderfully. Eugene and Lee Jung Jin were brilliant in their roles, and Choi Won Young was great fun to laugh at. The family members weren't all A-list actors, but they acted well and knew what they were doing. I kind of wish Seo Young Hoon had more screen time so I could actually form an opinion on what I thought of him as an actor, but as of now I'll just keep an eye out for him.
Music: I have to say, it was pretty much like every other OST out there, but a few of the songs were actually pretty good. (I'm not really sure if I actually liked them or if they just grew on me after 50 episodes)
Rewatch Value: Maybe? As of now I'm done with makjang for a while, but later for the OTP scenes.
Overall: From a distance, this drama is a fun watch. It'll leave you laughing, crying and smiling, but at the end of the day the only reason you'll really remember it is because of the craziness.

This drama started amazing. Till the 20th episode I was waiting for it to come out ( I saw it while airing). But then I started to wonder: "What is the meaning of this drama?"
The cast was good indeed, Eugene is a good actress in my opinion, and also the male lead and the other actors made a very good job, but, it ain't nothing to do because the story was read more a flop.
As I said, when I reached the 20th I started to wonder "so now I have other 30 episodes to watch, what can happen next?"
The thing is, you think it would bring something new every week, but actually nothing happens. Oh, well, nothing GOOD happens.
From the 20th to the 50th episode I skipped some parts because characters were boring, and their actions too.
They put in too much drama sterotypes, and that's good for a 16 episodes drama, but not for a very long drama like this one (50 episodes).
So, it is not like I didn't like it, but I felt as if because of the number of episodes they were just ruining the characters and the plot too.
It is a drama that shows life and everyday problems, but it gets boring from the middle till the end.
I think it could be a nice drama if it was shorter.

Both dramas are more than 30 eps. Both have the whole birth secret storyline and they deal with inheritance of a family company.
it has a secret birth - hiding whose child is whose and then finding it all out later causing chaos

I hope this isn't a spoiler, but I loved the birdcage and I felt like it was a well placed symbol. I decided not to listen to the commentators and watch it for myself to decide whether it's good or not. I am a supporter of Eugene's acting so I couldn't resist either.

After spending time to read all the comments and reviews above, I decided not to watch this. Because it's too long, because I heard it's very stressful. People need to watch more entertaining ones than this since that's the main purpose.
By the way I'm confused about the ratings, it got 1st places almost all of the episodes o.O
(yes I'm the type of person who doesn't want to go watch drama directly without reading something first lol)

I've just finished watching this drama and honestly I'm glad it's over. If it wasn't for Lee Jung Jin I probably would have given upon it at the very beginning. It's very long, most of the time badly written and truthfully boring and predictable. I skipped quit a lot of parts because I got bored.
Still just because it didn't fit my taste doesn't mean other people won't like it. There are certainly funny parts in it as well.

The most frustrating drama ever. It starts off real good & then it went downhill. I felt like a fool because i watched all 50 episodes. I couldn't stop watching...I felt like the writers owed me a good ending after putting me through hell ( I kept hitting the pause button during episodes out of frustration). In the end i got screwed. Worst drama EVER!!!!

very nice drama, and a good acting to all the characters min chae- won and lee se- yeon have a nice chemistry together,,and all it so funny.. very advisable to watch to anyone it didn't waste your time..............only one thing disappoint me where Lee Se-Yeon lost his sense of taste i really hope that he will regain his sense of taste with Min Chae-Won by his side..and they love each other but it really didnt happen until to the last episode.. i didnt say this to discourage you to watch this.. it only keeps a mark in my mind that i want to erase...(ae-gooo0)...

This drama was irritating all the way through only to have a very unsatisfying ending. Put me in a bad mood the whole time I watched. Had to leave it before I came back just to find out what happened in the end. Skipped a lot of the scenes too.

I really liked this drama during the first eps, it was promising, but then it got more and more ridiculous and I droppped it after 32 episodes...this was drama was torture, I feel bad for the actors that they had to act in this badly written drama.

The ending was such a let down...All I could say, "that's it?" Then on the other hand, what did I expect from the long-winded story (24 ep would have hit the mark on this one). This 50ep series was stressful and overly twisted at several points due to writers just filling time & space. The reviews above & comments below kinda of sum up this LONG series - mediocre. The only redeeming & likeable role was Grandpa, and once he passed, so did the series. Would I watch again? NO; Any actors I want to follow - No; Will I get wound up in another 50ep baby? TBD; Is it worth your time:?????

Ending could have been a lot better (as in they could've ended it a few episodes earlier)...but I don't regret watching it. ^^
