I haven't finish Jang Hyuk or Soo Ae's works before. I came by chance & decided to watch it. I was blown away with this movie. The acting was top-notch especially Park Min Ha. She may be a child actress but she brought her character to life.

Story: It's a disaster movie, not original. But the flu was an original concept.

Acting: As I said above. Park Min Ha blew me away. read more I love the father daughter chemistry between Park Min Ha & Jang Hyuk. There was some romantic chemistry between Soo Ae & Jang Hyuk even though there was never a romantic plot. I like it that the romance was never the main theme of disaster movies or dramas. I cried so many times in this movie & for a long period of time. One scene with Park Min Ha crying made me cry so hard(watch the movie to find out) that I had to look away from the screen & took a break for a moment to recompose myself.

Music: The music fitted the right moments. I want to look into the ost. But it was mostly instrumental music(or all because I watched this 2 months ago).

Rewatch: It's low because I don't want to cry for too long again. Some things were too painful to watch. I would recommend it. Watch it once, but don't watch it again or once a year.

Why watch: for the actors & actresses. If you like medical, disaster & action type movies then you'll probably like this one.

I was able to watch this one in the theater with friends. I was so glad I got to. It was a very good movie! It kept your attention to the very end and had a good story line. We all came out of the theater very glad we had seen it. When someone coughed we stared at them and we kept seeing flu shot signs every where. It is a movie read more that really stays with you. I am sure the water works will be turned on as well.

So...I didn't particularly like Deranged, but if you liked Deranged, you will definitely love The Flu; I can't guarantee the reverse if you liked The Flu, you'll like Deranged.

Both films revolve around a spreading epidemic and chaos. So in terms of those aspects I think it's safe to say someone who liked this movie will like The Flu.

The problem is that Deranged was too slow paced, constant unnecessary chaos scenes that added nothing to the plot, and a boring main "hero" and just a forgettable movie.

On the other hand I watched The Flu first and I LOVED it. So I was super excited for Deranged, but it just was a poorer version of The Flu in my opinion.

If you liked Deranged watch The Flu. If you hated Deranged, watch The Flu.

I watched The Flu after Train to Busan because I was craving more zombie/thriller movies. I was reluctant to watch The Flu since it is not about zombies and the trailer did not seem to interesting, but decided to give it a try.

I ended up loving it! Both movies are fast paced thrillers revolving around the spread of a virus infection in Korea. If you enjoyed the intenseness/edge-of-your-seat aspect of Train to Busan, then you will definitely enjoy The Flu! Both movies also possess heart-wrenching scenes and keep your heart racing until the very end.

The Flu also delves deeper into the story of the spread of the virus infection and the attempts to stop it, while Train to Busan focuses more on the survival of the main cast, however, you'll love both!

    The flu in melodramatic perspective.
    Following the good old style biohazard suspense no more a movie about a virus. The way the theme was approached is what gives that up in it. The theme is relatively common but adding a melodramatic load makes it irresistibly sensational. It's seeing to be believed.

    I loved the movie, so thrilling and i was on the edge of my seat constantly.
    One of the best disaster/epidemic movies ive seen.
    The little girl was so cute and great at acting.

      I have seen a lot of movies and most had disappointed me, but lately I've been lucky with some movies...
      someone has recommended The Tower, and it does look promising, though I haven't watched it yet...
      Assassination is a great movie, it's very different than this , but it is very intense...
      Montage was intense, I think ;p...
      Life Risking Romance was great in my view, it has mystery and thriller with a hint of comedy...
      I kind of only remember the most recent movies, and after the flu I started watching less intense genres because I couldn't handle anymore thrillers, and I don't want to keep recommending movies I love ^^;
      oh and if you don't mind dramas, Voice looks very promising and it has Jang Hyuk ;D

      Tell me if the tower is good or not ;p
      At that time every movie/drama just made me cry, even running man, so I needed more lighthearted movies ^^;
      oh there's also Veteran, and A Violent Prosecutor ^^
      I too watch movies as a break, I'd be happy if you have any recommendations for me as well ^^

    Describe this movie in 4 words:
    "Well, that escalated quickly" (⊙_⊙).

    Jokes aside. It's a fantastic disaster movie. Absolute must watch if you like movies about epidemics (be it an zombie infection or a flu) and a handful of people trying to survive in it.

    An awesome movie to watch! Just the beginning that bores me a bit. But after the '"flu" begins to spread there's no other dull moments. And yes, the Korean President and Ji Goo is so hot. Lol.

    have this bookmarked a long time ago even before TTB, finally giving this a go after so much recommendations. unlike any other disaster movies, like the one in hollywood, this only focuses on the 3main character. when hollywood makes something like this, they usually shows 10 characters with different story and will somewhat intertwined during the movie which makes it more complicated. i like how the story only focuses on the little girl and her mother. 9/10 for me :)
