The drama will center around how a 35 year old changes the school and influences her fellow classmates’ lives while dealing with the dark reality of today’s high schools, including bullying and skipping school.
Also Known as:
35 Year Old High School Student; No Dropping Out: Back to School at 35;
First off, I'm so jealous of Yonekura Ryoko because at age 37 she just rocks that school uniform OMG. Anyway. I've watched a lot of these "troublesome class, solving one problem per episode!" dramas and while the fact that Baba is a 35 year old high school student is something new (doesn't top a yakuza in high school though, hanya~), the concept really isn't. The problems the class faces aren't exactly a read morenew breeze in dramaland either, BUT I loved the drama anyway.
I really liked the way the problems were dealt with and there were always some nice twists added, to make the drama and the characters less predictable. The first episode is definitely the strongest, but I felt the drama kept a good quality to the end (although the last episode was a bit too draggy at times) and Babas background story as well as the whole school caste system are pretty interesting. I also felt that the drama wasn't as ...preachy? as other dramas of this type tend to be sometimes and most characters acted believable to the end, even though the story was a bit overly dramatic at times.
The acting was pretty good, Ryoko made me really like Baba and Junpei was convincing as the cowardly homeroom teacher, but to me the much younger Yamazaki Kento and Suda Masaki were best. Kento really shined in the last episode and Masaki made me sincerely hate his character up to the last 15 minutes of the final episode.
Overall I really liked this and I'd recommend it without hesitation if someone was looking for a high school drama. And the last 5 minutes or so of the drama are just super adorable :)
This drama was great! I watched this drama for Jumpei at first because he was the only actor in this drama that I knew. But I also watched this for the plot.
Story: The plot is school-genre like story, but the 35 year old woman going back to high school was a plot twist itself. I never heard anyone over 22 being in high school taking regular classes. Some of the arcs read moreare predictable, but there are enough twists in this drama to keep you interested.
Acting: I'm envious of Yonekura Ryoko for pulling off a high school uniform. She kind of reminds me of Horita Maki when I saw the picture of Ryoko in the drama poster(looks wise). Acting-wise, Ryoko was amazing in this role. I could connect with her character even if I'm not 35! :) I was surprised that I didn't like Jumpei's character in the middle of this drama till his arc came around(I liked him in the beginning & after his arc). The students the story focused on were amazing. Some better than others. I've never seen any of the actors/actresses(or don't remember if I've seen them before or not). Overall, the ensemble cast was amazing.
Music: I like the mini theme song. It sets the tone. The BGM are great, some are not memorable.
Will I rewatch this?: Yes, I will rewatch this drama for the Baba, Koizumi & the student's character development.
You'll like this drama if you like school dramas, comedy, suspense, & the actors and actresses in this drama.
Both are about school life, ragging, family problem and other school problem of student. difference is in GTO a male lead a teacher try to solve and in 35 sai no Koukousei a female lead a student try to solve
Such an awesome drama where each character no matter how crappy they were still retained being human. Even if the first group kids were some of the worst of the bunch in how they demean and harassed the other children from the other groups, they weren't caricatures or inhuman characters, they were real, these kids exist and they do it reading the atmosphere but also to keep up appearances. I feel like this drama embodies in elements how it feels in school....well my opinion it does. There always a class clown, a bully, the cool girls too good for anyone else, and etc....Even with the teachers there is a hierarchical system as well. It might have taken certain elements into an extreme but it was never unrealistic. the premise of a 35 year old going to high school yes but the other elements....it was completely true. really great, endearing, and heartwarming drama.
its 7.8 rating for me. slow on the first 3 episodes but got better the following eps. Babayako's acting feels kind of off, maybe due to her character but I get used to it. The ending is quite cheesy but satisfaction to the fullest. It will left you smile and wish you have those kind of friendships.
I find it odd that people are complaining about the show being unrealistic because in my opinion that is one of the hallmarks of japanese dramas and anime, to start with an absurd premise but then go somewhere very serious and emotional with it. Obviously not everything is like that, and maybe its more common in anime than dramas. I''m probably biased though
Ok, so this is the very first drama I've ever finished.
Overall I found it to be a great series. It was rather melodramatic at times and some stuff near the end was way over the top. Still I found it to be effective, emotional and exciting.
When I went in I expecting some silly show where Baba comes in like an invulnerable God or something and crazy antics insue. I quickly realized I was wrong and I got much more than I had expected. This series did go over the top at times and some things really didn't sit right with me. However for what it was I enjoyed it and it was a good introduction to dramas for me.
I am I the only one who felt this drama was very melodramatic and cheesy? When watching it I could barely find it in myself to believe anything like this could happen in real life and I'm sorry but not every mean person is someone who is misunderstood and has a heart of gold. This drama was fun to watch and a good thing to watch to pass the time but it wasn't anything special. I didn't seem to care much about the characters at all and the only one I found tolerable was Baba, I give this drama a 6/10.
My thoughts exactly. First, I had very high hopes of this show as it has a score of 8.0. In the end, I couldn't stand watching anymore after 4 episodes because of the unrealistically incompetent teachers/principals. The show would have been much better if the teachers were not so pathetic. Hell, the teachers aren't even trying. It's a shame, because I did like the way Baba solved the troubles the students had (up to ep 3, as I dropped the show during ep 4). My score: 5.0.
You didn't miss much, just more melodrama and Baba solving each of the students problems individually. Reminded me a bit of Gokusen but Gokusen imo is a lot better as it's not meant to be taken seriously. This drama feels as though its taking itself too seriously.
