The Korean version is the remake of the Japanese movie. Therefore, they have the same storyline.

Not really, the plot is pretty much the same but the K-drama feels cheesy somehow.

At first, I watched the K-drama (in 2017) and I loved it. But as I watched the original Japanese movie (2013 version), I felt that original is always better. As much as I liked the leading man in the K-drama, the leading man in the J-movie is much more intense, charming and charismatic. The personality of the leading man in the K-drama did not quite convey that aura. Not sure, maybe because its a drama and they had to make it long somehow to make it interesting...

I just liked the J-movie more. But for sure, watch both. Why not.

An older guy and high school girl. Mellow in tone with a bit of angst but not depressing.

One simple aspect music and musician and student. In the Hippie is a student too, but hey. There is great music in both and the lead actor in both composed the music and wrote the songs and sung them and performed them. So it's just fitting that it's here. However, Hippie is far from a liar. He's ridiculously raw and straightforward. This is on the superficial level of just music and rock.

There is the age gap between the leads. KWUWA is a little heavier, with a bit less romance. Not as fluffy as Kinkyori Renai.

ML is an actor but not too popular anymore & broke so he rent a room in FL house.
FL is a nerdy geeky/otaku girl who like to imagine & day dreaming about romance with her favorite manga/comic book character. Remind me of Rainie Yang & Jiro Wang drama....& still 1 of my favorite drama....If you like this genre this is a must watch romance comedy drama....
