The movie is great! one of those movies you just cannot miss...
it is quite entertaining since there is funny scenes and characters in it and the plot is excellent as well...
people who liked movies like Ocean's eleven, twelve etc would enjoy this one as well and also who like logical thinking and such
the story develops slowly and it is enjoyable as the lead character is quite interesting

it does read more not include any romance so those who wish to see that...well it is not in this movie~ :)

Seriously, after finishing the movie, just before the credits all I could say was 'waah, Daebak!' The writing and scenarios were gold. You think you know the plot, but then PDnim/writernim twists it and you're left laughing out loud. I was genuinely shocked at times, and I think that's what catapulted this to a 10 instead of a 9. It's not really a funny cop movie. The ensemble cast was perfect, with read more Jung Jaeyoung leading naturally in his "quirky yet straight man" role. Son Byungho's charisma shone through even when he had few lines. The rest of the cast played their roles to the hilt- milking every gag, compressing tension -adding an absurdist feel to the film. If you like comedy then you have to watch this. The romance is light but you won't miss it -I promise this even though romcoms are my favorite genre.

Bottom line: Going By the Book is a slightly twisted comedy featuring an affable and quirky hero (who's actually a villain -sorta), that you have to see!

The subject matter and plot lines of these have absolutely nothing in common, but both are parodies and I found the tone and humor to be really similar. Comedy is all about personal taste, but if you like yours deadpan and absurd with a touch of suspense and enjoyed Going by the Book you should give Once Upon a Time in Saengchori a try. I find them both pee-your-pants funny.

I was laughing throughout the entire movie lol - every expression of the "hostages" the disbelief of the squad leader, the planning and execution of the robbery by Do Man XD Gosh, this was a good comical crime movie lol - It's a staged robbery done by cops for practice - but it doesn't go the way they planned b/c of the guy who is in charge of the "fake robbery". I loved Jung Jae Young & Lee Young Eun the most in this ^_^ A whole 'nother take on robberies, cops and hostages XD Like another said, it is similar in the comedic way 'Guns and Talks' was :P
