Why did I watch it? Because it’s about my favorite genre; food and romance. I really have a big hope for it but maybe it’s too high because I feel a little disappointed.
Its lacking detail, it’s about food but i think the food is just a plus one, and unfortunately the romance is a plus one too,,,, so the food and romance are just a side dish what’s the main dish? read more That’s what I don’t like from this movie; I don’t know what it is really about. The story definitely more focus in the male lead and his past then his future but his character is somehow can’t make me love him. And what’s with the title “,,,,,, a true love story”, I wonder where the love story is.
BTW, if you think its might be good then just watch it. >___<

I really enjoyed this. I can see why lots of people would not really like this. It's slow, the romance is so subtle you could barely feel it, and the politics feel a bit out of place in this movie. Still, I liked it. You don't see a man spend so much time with his wife in the Japanese historical genre, and bond over something they both share like cooking.

I wouldn't call this a 'love story' as the title states--it sounds too passionate for this subtle movie. But there is love.

actually... not bad! Acting was great.. especially by Aya! for me the Story revolves more on Haru's character than Yasunobu.. loved the ending!
