Leela is going to get married in a few day but unfortunately, she and her groom get into an accident when they are hit by Kid's car . Her groom dies but she survives. Kid, their litigant, also loses his wife in the accident. He pays for Leela's medical treatment and visits her every day.
Their relationship quickly deepens, and she soon finds out his son is Kawee, a man she was read morein love with in her youth. Leela had stalked and pursued the arrogant Kawee, but was mercilessly rejected and humiliated by him. She does not love Kid, but is encouraged by her younger sister, Narin, to accept his marriage proposal. Leela's main motive is to seek revenge on Kawee.
Leela and her family, which includes her mother, younger brother and sister Narin, all move to Kid's house.
Kawee becomes enraged by the marriage and the new family members moving in. He specifically targets Narin because she stands up to him and defends her sister. He quickly finds himself intrigued by her, but also enjoys making Leela mad with envy, whenever he pays attention to Narin.
The relationships turn volatile, with conflicting emotions of revenge, loyalty, duty, hate and love, all thrown into the mix.

I'm thinking how in the world do you write a review on this lakorn given the storyline / subject material. I think if you want to watch this story have in mind the lead in this story does horrific deeds and slowly crawls back on a broken road to redemption.
I am new to watching anything from Thailand mostly I've hung out with Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese dramas so it's kinda a read more mind flip on what your accustom to watching when it comes to dramas.
I am a fan to both Ken and Ann's acting and if you watch this what makes the story worth watching is the phenomenal acting and where these two are able to take this tragic script and make you care about the characters and want them to find happiness at the end. The only reason I would review this drama and stuck with it to the end is because of how well acted and talented the two leads are in this story to keep you going. Ken is able to make you feel sympathy where none should be thought to be given.

If you decide to hunt this lakorn down know you will find Kawee actions are beyond forgiveness but he's a child of abuse, extreme wealth and neglect and has no personal growth in his emotions and sympathy of others until he sees what his own actions have cost him and only then does he learn from what he has done and only it shows how only love can change him. You will hate him ten fold in what he does to Narin. You will find yourself disgusted by both his father and his new wife / Narin's sister's marriage and you will see how Leela and Kawee's fighting nearly destroys Narin.

This lakorn was on Viki but it no longer is available. The original translator of this drama had uploaded the episodes on Youtube but then canceled their account. Only 7 of the 12 episodes are available online with translation and its a blurry copy and the rest of the episodes are listed by another person there. If you want to hunt this down there is one seller on Ebay who has it available for around 12.50 with the english translation. It is a story worth watching but its not for the faint of heart and it has graphic subject material.

I give the acting on this a 10. By far the best acted lakorn period.
There is some slight comedy worked into it in from the coworkers at the floral shop but I would by no means call this a romantic comedy.

Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful lakorns I have ever scene. Every word from Kawee's mouth is gold tbh. He is twisted, vile, temperamental, controlling, jealous, possessive, childish. But he has his reasoning for being the way he is. His father created a monster with his lack of affection towards Kawee. Lee wanted love from someone who was emotionally unavailable. Narin got dragged into the mess, because of her love read more for her sister.
the writer did a fantastic job.
Kawee is a character that we actually sympathize with if you minus all of the abuse he dishes out. He is misunderstood beautiful, and does not even understand his feeling for Rin,
He repeated tells her a girl like you will never win me over who is he reminding her or himself?
When he tries to win her back during her pregnancy was heartbreaking honestly.
But this show was amazing Ken and Ann nailed it.

Both lakorns came out in the same year and worth giving it a go.
If you liked SLAP/KISS genre and conflicting emotions of love/hate/revenge then recommend checking out this lakorn. Yes, the main female lead gets kidnapped to an island for the majority of the drama- turns out to have kidnapped the wrong person and you think you know what's going to happen. Its one of the first of it's kind. :)

I rated this 1/10 and dropped it. LOL I was knew to lakorns at the time. But I still think this one is sick, sick and sick again. Guy is not redeemable and girl had probably lost her sanity already ah ah ah .

this is very interesting and intense but why is one episode 4 hours long? am i at the wrong website or something lol.

It's alwaysmeena version w/ higher quality video..split into 4 long parts(eps)...So it is either:
      12 episodes @1hr35min each = 19 hours total ....or....
      4 episodes @4hr45min each = 19 hours total.

Dramacool has the 4 episode version although they also include the shorter episodes 5-12 .

i'm only at ep 3 and I don't know if I have the courage to keep it on... I watched 'Kleun Cheewit' and 'Game Rai Game Rak' but this one ... sigh I don't understand the meaning of anything, how can a girl love this type of guy??? Nothing is charming nor romantic. Morality be a bastard

Do NOT continue ... It's excellent, BUT the intensity and abuse is Shocking..... this is nothing like the lakorns you described .... This one is NOT for Every One!!!
Also, from ur Current watch list: NO to SSK ... writing and especially acting fail, guy comes across as just cruel, lacking the vulnerability and sympathy shown by Ken here in SB.
I think you will quite enjoy Duang Jai Akkanee ... it is a lot of fun! .. still has love/hate but more similar to your taste ... enjoy :)

Happy to help u avoid shock ;) ...LOL
No need to watch Thara Himalai first .... U've probably fallen for the amazing natural chemistry of Nadech and Yaya, they r the best <3<3<3....
If u decide to watch Rising Sun series for Yadech, Must watch 1 before 2 ... both good.

Anything similar and as good / intense as this drama in terms of acting and screenplay? I don't mind the slap and kiss theme, on the contrary.

Same, I'm all for the inner strugles of the characters, rather than the action. Sadly there aren't many dramas who focus much on this aspect, which is a pity, because I'm sure there are plenty of viewers who would enjoy them.

On the other side, I do and I don't understand hateful comments about slap and kiss lakorns. I do understand them because the younger audience could get a wrong message and that can evolve in a real issue, BUT I don't belive these dramas are targeting the young audience. At the end of the day, even the usual rich guy / poor girl rom-coms can leave a wrongful impression on the viewers, especially on teens, who might actually get to belive that meeting a hot rich guy in real who will irrevocable fall for them isn't really out of the ordinary. Luckily, I know where to draw the line for myself and I can enjoy all kind of topics, as long as they entertain me one way or another :) I don't go as far as to visualise a real rapist and a real scenario, I only see the hot conflicted Ken and the twisted intrigued story they try to deliver to us. I'm not judgmental at all when it comes to television as long as it tries to be at least a bit meaningul :)

I've seen all your recommandations, but I wanted to ask you personally about a similar drama to SB, because I really wanted a similar drama to SB in terms of theme / acting, and not just a good lakorn and reading your comments and feedbacks, I knew I coud trust your suggestions :)

      Exactly my thoughts :D
My only qualms about slap/kiss is it may negatively influence young girls or I am supporting what may perpetuate mistreatment of women in society ....
Fortunately, both the laws and society's opinions have much improved in past decades (since these stories were written) ....yet still have a way to go .... Anyway, it's a long discussion, that I'll leave for another place ;)

Great arguments! I can’t see why it should be ok to promise an idealistic world to the audience, when portraying the opposite is a total no-no. The real world is complex, no one is 100% devil or saint – we have the potential for both.

This was my first lakorn too! I’m a sucker for tormented and flawed characters as well, so I too was totally thrilled to have come across something like this. Glad to find another person who felt the same way, as I was honestly..a bit conflicted about liking the theme so much, when so many others didn’t...

Ps. I just finished watching Sanaeha Sunya Kaen. So far this has been the closest to come to Sawan Biang for me, except that the male lead character was a lot more despicable than Kawee (the actor himself was extremely handsome though, and probably the most seductive male lead I’ve ever seen in a drama, lol).
I second Ru sunbae’s recommendations above, Neung Nai Sueng especially was a super enjoyable watch! I have to thank her for recommending it to me as well! heh

Well that was a nice read. As rainaruma said, I am all for the angst, jealousy, love/hate and forbidden love. Sawan Biang was also my first lakorn and it got me into the world of slap/kiss. I have also watched many but Sawan Biang remains to be on top of my slap/kiss list. I also really like Yah Leum Chan starring Tik Jesada.

I started Sanaeha Sunya Kaen but it was only subbed til ep 6 at that time. I will have to pick it up later.

@Elizabeth ... me too, it remains on top....Sawan Biang is unmatched in terms of Smart Writing, Well-developed Characters and exceptional acting ... Best lakorn and among the best of all Asia, in this aspect, regardless of the controversial subject matter.! has Sanaeha Sunya Kaen .... SSK tried to imitate SB in intensity, but fell far short, especially in Depth and Complexity :( ... mainly b/c the leads were not likable characters ... But if you like slap/kiss, it is intense and the second couple is very likable... worth watching!

Can we just please try to evalute dramas for their entertainment value and not get into a heated debate over nothing? We can all agree that none of the things that go down in this drama are acceptable when applied to reality, but this is a drama - in other words, fiction. There is no reason to get all worked up.

If you like shows like this, good for you, if you don't, that's ok too, but let's stop with the bashing. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no reason to make each other feel bad for liking (or disliking) a certain thing and ruining the experience for them.

I think it was bc the drama was so intense we had such strong reactions. I was disgusted and just needed to talk about it.

Now that I look back, I have to say I am impressed by the actors. I felt myself getting super emotional and that rarely happens. A dark emotional roller coaster. And in some weird way I could understand this from their (character's) point of view.

Will I watch something like this again? Nope. But I realize how many crime shows I watch and therefore won't judge someone for watching dramas like these, but it would be nice to have more thai options that are a little less violent.

      BlackHalo Aug 18, 2017 - edited

Exactly! Watching crime shows and enjoying them doesn't mean you approve of the crime either. As for Thai shows, I too wish we had more options with less violence, but at the same time I think these kind of shows bring us something that others don’t; they show us the darker parts of human nature; chaos, vulnerability, and what happens when you lose control.

Most dramas are wish-fulfilment fantasies. The characters are flat; you’re either the hero or the villain. Reality isn’t black and white. It’s a million grey areas. I’m not saying that Thai slap/kiss dramas are more realistic, just that they show us parts of human nature that we’d rather not acknowledge (or see play out).
Also, like you said, portraying intense emotions isn’t an easy task either. Imagine how awkward it must have been for the actors, but nevertheless they pulled through – and very convincingly at that. If anything, this was a display of fine acting. Hard not to be impressed!

Agree with most of the comments that say this was a really abusive and not a romantic story at all. The lead male was really repulsive and childish at abusing the heroine for no actual good reason except because he hated her sister. He was such a spoiled weak piece of human garbage. If you want to a read a story that is a sexy psychological thriller that explores romantic obsession then do yourself a favor and read Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes. I know this lakorn wasn't going for sexy thriller but more of a dark romance I think, but I honestly felt it failed and there was nothing sexy or romantic about the leading love story. At least Into the Darkest Corner started out genuinely romantic.

Curiosity got the best of me to try and see how bad this is, and the mind can be wicked at times to make me keep watching. This wasn't just bad, it was HORRIBLE. Every time romantic music plays for the main couple, I would be so disgusted!! The guy is insane! And anyone even associating with him must has some screw loose. I don't even blame the girl in the end, since I find everyone around her is crazy, so might as well join in with the craziness.

I just wonder how this can be acceptable in anyone's mind? The guy is a crazy criminal of all degrees! If I was her I would've either killed him or made sure he ends in prison for the rest of his life! But like I said, what drives me nuts is how the people around them were the ones that found it easy to forget, and treat all his crimes as so lightly. The thing is, even IF it was possible for a bastard like him to truly regret, SORRY is NOT enough. You make amends by paying for your crime! In Prison!

The writing overall doesn't make sense at all, and neither did any of the actions of the characters, specially the family of the leading girl. The mom pisses me off the most! I hate incapable moms that act as if they are good moms!

Funny thing is, I can't help but admit a strength to the drama, which is the acting. It may be my first time seeing the guy, be he convinced me of his serial rapist crazy immature brat nature, that I can't seem him in any other way.
