Philip Lee is dropping out of 'Faith'

Due to his upcoming scheduled eye surgery, Philip Lee who’s starring as Jang Bin (The Royal Doctor) is dropping out of the currently airing Monday-Tuesday drama Faith.

The actor expressed his deepest apologies to the drama’s fans since there aren't many episodes till the drama’s final broadcast. Critics expressed their worries about the character's disappearance since there has been no explanations during the previous episodes. Moreover, some of them stated that the character didn't deliver anything special ever since the drama’s started airing so maybe it was unnecessary to cast his role in the first place.

 That being said, our well wishes go to Phillip Lee. We hope that he has a fast recovery and a quick return to dramaland.

    I was so sad when he died. It was just so quick and random. :( RIP Dr. Jang. We knew ye well.

    So that's why they killed him. Honestly, I loved his character and was so sad when he died. I literally cried when it happened! I think there was somewhat of a meaning behind his character because he was the one who helped Eun Soo and was her only friend. But best wishes to Phillip Lee!
    PS: OMG THE LAST EPISODE IS IN 5 DAYS (Tuesday included).
    Sorry just had to say that in order to believe it.

    Meh it was too long. Basically; Jang Bin had meaning as a character. Look through the early episodes and watch for him and him alone and you will see. I am sure many of you did not watch Faith for Philip Lee like I did but that was the only reason I tuned in so I feel I thoroughly watched his character. XD Jang Bin has meaning it's just that he wasn't used to his full potential in a short drama. Yes, 24 is short for what Faith could of been.

    Wait a minute, who ever said he was unnecessary to the story? It was thanks to him that Eun Soo got to know a lot of diseases in the Goryeo era and how they named it and cured them at that time. It was also thanks to him that this all going-to-heaven-to-get-hwata thing developed, since he couldn't cure the Queen when she was cut on the neck right in the beginning. Though I was still expecting more from him and somehow a connection to Hwata, I have to disagree with those so-called 'critics'. Hope he gets better, anyway!

      Really? All his character did was to give shoulder for lead actress to cry on. They didn't have to waste a good actor in this silly role. Many wu dal chi characters have more screen space than him.

    WTF he is important for the story. He has kind of Father role, really nice, well behaved, smart and cool. He also can be the rival!

    I think maybe he was cast as eye-candy because otherwise his part is a stabilizer throughout the show. He is not the one to shift the plot but is always there when something needs explaining, repairing etc. I like him a lot as an actor and agree that his part was written maybe for someone with less to offer than him. That kind of blew up in their faces because even I think of him as the hot doctor in Faith, or the hot Director in Secret Garden. Currently looking to watch the legend, from what I read, it's a good drama. So, the question is: why don't they offer him bigger roles? Is it that he can't act, but I haven't noticed? He's got that mellow side to him but somehow I get the feeling there is something brewing underneath.

      I don't think it's he can't act, I hate to say it maybe because he's a foreigner? But that shouldn't be it since I know a ton of us probably didn't know he was from the US til we looked him up but I agree that he deserved a main lead. I love his acting style. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. XD And he's kind of oddly handsome. Like not in the pretty boy handsome or manly manly sense but like Kim Jae Wook pretty XD

      Yes, I know... KJW is one of my favorites :) I thought about him being foreign too, but he is actually Korean, is he not? He just lived in the states and is crazy rich. But should one hold that against him? I would say not!

    I didn't cross my mind that they're going to kill him off in the show :"( and it's ever sadder than we didn't get to see him fight... wish him all the best in his surgery...
