Incarnation of Money

Kang Ji Hwan (Coffee House, Runway Cop) has been fighting law suits for quite some time, but has now been cleared to continue acting.

It is just in time too, especially since he will be starring alongside Hwang Jung Eum (Fullhouse 2, Giant) in Incarnation of Money, which will be airing on February 2 on SBS following Cheongdamdong Alice.  Luckily for us, the director and writers decided to wait out the injunction request that kept Kang Ji Hwan from acting, so now, we may finally see Kang Hi Hwan return. The story is a romantic comedy produced by Yoo In Shik and is written by Jang Young Chul and Jung Kyun Soon.  Perhaps you recognize them from their successes, Giant and History of the Salaryman.  (No? In that case, be sure to add both dramas to your PTW list, because they are definitely worth a watch.)

Anyways, Incarnation of Money will not be Hwang Jung Eum's and Kang Ji Hwan's first time acting together. In fact, they both previously starred in the movie, The Relation of Face, Mind and Love, and have both (respectively) worked with the producers and writers of the drama Giant.

The plot of Incarnation of Money is about the daughter, Bok Jane (Hwang Jung Eum), of a loan shark who grows up with many hardships and is completely engrossed in money. Lee Cha Don (Kang Ji Hwan) is an unfortunate debtor that cannot escape--no matter what he tries to do--paying back the money he owes.  Ultimately, Bok Jane will stop at nothing to get her money; even going to the mental institution that Lee Cha Don is in to bust him out with fake marriage papers. Yes, it would seem this is another 'marriage contract' type of drama, but of course, with a slight twist.

Sounds really crazy, but also a lot of fun.  If there is anyone to play crazy, then it is Kang Ji Hwan.

Jang Ok Jung, Live For Love

This time, Kim Tae Hee (Stairway to Heaven, Iris) is making news for reasons besides her recent “love scandal” with Rain.  Actually, she has been cast as Jang Jui Bin in the upcoming drama Jang Ok Jung, Live for Love  which will air on SBS in March 18 after Queen of Ambition.  This will be her first attempt at a sageuk drama.  Yoo Ah In (Antique Bakery, Sungkyunkwan Scandal) has also been cast as Suk Jong, who is Jang Jui Bin’s lover.

Jang Jui Bin (Kim Tae Hee) is a famous concubine of that era.  There have been nine previous dramas and movies of this character.  However, the producers say that this time they are going to focus more on her role as the lady-in-waiting to Queen Dowager Jangnyeol . They will compare her role to a fashion designer of modern times.  In other movies and dramas Jang Jui Bin becomes ruthless to get what she wants. It will be interesting to see where the producers and writers go with this drama.

I’m not much on sageuk dramas, but add ruthless woman to pretty much any drama and I will watch it.  Plus, I have been hoping to see Yoo Ah In act so that I can erase Fashion King from my psyche.

KBS has premiered their anthology series Drama Special on Sunday, January 6 with Sirius to be aired for 4 weeks.  This is a suspense thriller starring Seo Joon Young (To the Beautiful You, Tree with Deep Roots). Directing this drama is the renowned Mo Wan Il, who is credited with past Drama Specials and Dream High 2.  The writer, Won Ri Oh, is new.

This series is about a set of twins, Eun-Chang and Shin-Woo (Seo Joon Young) who are totally different. When they were teens, Eun-Chang was a bright and popular kid, but went to jail because of Shin-Woo. Since then, his life has changed completely. Meanwhile, Shin-Woo always felt inferior to his brother and his feelings for his brother became more complicated after his brother was imprisoned.

Shin-Woo is now the chief detective of a police investigation team. He works mainly with drug investigations. Eun-Chang now works as an errand man at a hostess bar. A conspiracy is implemented by Ko Seok-Min (Ryu Seung-Soo) and the twin brothers change positions. Eun-Chang now acts as Shin-Woo in the police department. Shin-Woo is shocked that his brother stole his identity and begins to take actions to get his identity back. Meanwhile, Ko Seok-Min proposes a deal with Eun-Chang. --- Asianwiki

OMG…the minute I saw this, I just knew I had to watch it.  This kind of suspense thriller reminds me of Resurrection with Uhm Tae Woong.  Plus, I am excited to see Seo Joon Young as a bad guy.

I know this isn't a drama or movie, but I still thought that a lot of you would like to check it out. So Ji Sub has a new album coming out later this month, January 2013 called 6 O’Clock…School Field.  The title track is Field TripYoo Seung Ho (I Miss You) and Park Shin Hye (Heartstrings, Flower Boy Next Door) took time out of their busy schedule to participate in So Ji Sub’s MV directed by Hong Won Ki.  Hong Won Ki is known for Epik High’s Run and One, and Girls Generation’s The Boys.  Yoo Seung Ho will be the lead character in his 20s while So Ji Sub will play the lead character in his 30s.  Park Shin Hye plays the love interest.

Like I said, I know this isn't a drama or movie, but some of the music videos can be drama-like.  I’m just excited for So Ji Sub to be putting out a new album.

Wow, everything seems really interesting.  I have no idea how I’m going to watch all of these.  Enjoy!!!
