Matsu-chan's Top 10 Male Idols Turned Actors
We all know that there are several Korean singers and actors that have made the crossover into either the music industry or Dramaland. In fact, a lot of actors of today even started off in the music industry before they debuted as actors. For now, I would like to discuss some of these singers turned actors; here is my top-10 list of them.

10. Choi Minho

Who is this, if not our flaming charisma xD

Choi Minho is an active member of the Kpop group, SHINee, as most of us already know. He is also currently an actor. He was discovered in 2006 through the SM casting system, and in 2008, he debuted with SHINee. His first acting project was in the 2010 KBS drama special, Pianist, as Jo Re Ho. In 2012, he played the role of Kang Tae Jun in the SBS broadcasted drama, To the Beautiful You.

I chose Choi Minho as 10th place on my list, because, in my opinion, he was great in TTBY, and he's also an awesome singer and rapper (plus he's really good-looking, kekeke).

9. Camui Gackt

Popular dramas he's starred in: Kamen Rider Decade, Mr. Brain and Akumu Chan
Popular movies he's starred in: Moon Child

For those who don’t know, Camui Gackt is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, actor and author. He started his musical career in 1994, as the front man of the independent band Cains: Feel. But they disbanded soon, and Gackt joined the visual Kei band Malice Mizer, and then he started a solo career in 1999. In 2003, Gackt wrote the script for a film, Moon Child, where he starred the main role, along with the co-star Hyde (from the band L’arc en Ciel).

When I first watched Moon Child, my first reaction was: WOAH!!
Now I’ve watched it about 5 times, and I still love it. As for his dramas, who can be more frightening than his role in Mr. Brain? Well, I hope many of you agree with me when I say that he really WAS scary, despite his great looks...

8. Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P)

http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/iji/309665304191112406_7edd4fb3_f.jpg
Popular dramas he's starred in: I Am Sam, IRIS
Movies he's starred in: IRIS: the movie, 71: Into the fire, Classmate

Choi Seung Hyun was in his teenage years an underground rapper named TEMPO. When YG was looking for members to form a new boy band he went to the audition, but they rejected him for being ‘too chubby’. He wanted to join so badly, so he lost 20 kg, and went for the audition again, and was accepted. Seung Hyun got his stage name T.O.P from fellow YG artist SE7EN, and in 2006 he debuted with Big Bang. He started his acting career in 2007, in the KBS2 drama I Am Sam.

I’m a fan of Big Bang... Do I have to say more? T.O.P hasn’t been in so many films or dramas, but it should be enough anyway. It’s not ONLY acting talent that counts here. Did anyone here watch the Big Bang parody of Secret Garden? If you have, you have to admit that his acting was good (even though Daesung was the best; Smeeeeeell~)!

Anyway, he’s a great actor and a great rapper; he really deserves this 8th place!

7. Hwang Kwang Hee

Popular dramas he's starred in: To the Beautiful You
Movies he's starred in: Ronin Pop and Marrying the Mafia 5

Hwang Kwang Hee is a member of the nine-member Korean boy band ZE:A (under Star Empire Entertainment). He debuted as a singer in 2010, and his acting career started in the same year, but he got his first proper role in 2012.

Despite all the plastic surgeries he’s gone through, I loved him in To the Beautiful You, where he played the role as the trouble-making and jealous Song Jong Min. He was adorable ♥

6. Jung Ji Hoon (Rain)

Popular dramas he's starred in: Orange, Full House, A Love To Kill and Fugitive: Plan B
Popular movies he's starred in: I’m a Cyborg But That’s Okay and Return to Base

In 2002 Rain started out as a singer, releasing the album Bad Guy. His acting career started in 2003 with the KBS drama Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School.

This guy’s acting in Fugitive: Plan B was brilliant, he was such a dork. And he’s also a really good singer! Full House is a classic drama; he was just amazing as Lee Young Jae!

5. Kim Hyun Joong

Popular dramas he's starred in: Playful Kiss, Boys Over Flowers

In 2005, Kim Hyun Joong made his debut as the leader of the Kpop group, SS501. He has starred in popular dramas such as Playful Kiss and Boys Over Flowers. He even had a guest starring role in Dream High. I enjoyed every single one of them! I'm a huge fan of SS501, so that would most likely attribute to this. I'm too biased. :p

4. Jung Yong Hwa

Popular dramas he's starred in: You're Beautiful, Heartstrings, A Gentleman's Dignity (guest role)

Jung Yonghwa started composing music at quite a young age; he was only in high school. In 2009, his band, CN Blue released their first mini album in Japan: Now or Never. His acting debut was in 2009, with his role as Kang Shin Woo in the SBS drama You're Beautiful. After some thinking, I remembered, both Shin Woo and Lee Shin (Heartstrings) will always be in my heart. I was always crying over that Shin Woo only was the 2nd male lead, because he was always so sweet. When I watched Heartstrings I felt like my little dream came true. I think I'll remember them both for a long time in the future.

3. Kim Jaejoong (Hero)

Popular dramas starred in: Sunao ni Narenakute, Protect The Boss and Time Slip Dr. Jin
Popular movies starred in: Postman to Heaven, Dating on Earth and Codename: Jackal

Kim Jaejoong (a.k.a. Hero) auditioned for SM Entertainment in 2001 and was accepted into the agency. In 2003, he debuted with TVXQ, a.k.a. Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK) and Tohoshinki. After filing a lawsuit against SM Ent. because of unacceptable contracts, Kim Jaejoong and fellow past DBSK members Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu formed a new group, JYJ, under Rhythm Zone, a sub-label of Avex. Jaejoong has also worked on solo activities as a solo singer. He started acting in 2005, in the SBS special First Love.

Jaejoong was great in Codename: Jackal. I’ve watched that movie around 4 times, only because of him. Left for me is to watch Postman to Heaven (which I regret I haven’t watched yet), and I hope it’s as good as people say it is. It would be great if we can see him again in a new movie or drama soon!

2. Park Yoochun (Micky)

http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/2n9/309655888905982240_0f606879_f.jpg
Popular dramas he's starred in: Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Miss Ripley, Rooftop Prince, and Missing You
Popular movies he's starred in: Dating on Earth

Park Yoochun (a.k.a. Micky) debuted in DBSK in 2003, and even he was one of those who filed the lawsuit against SM Entertainment, and along with Jaejoong and Junsu, they formed JYJ. In 2010 he started his official acting career, in the Japanese drama Beautiful Love –If You Were Here-. Soon after that he made his Korean acting debut in the drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

I’ve always loved Yoochun’s roles; he makes them so trustworthy. His part as Lee Seon Joon in Sungkyunkwan Scandal was fantastic, and not only that one Miss Ripley, Rooftop Prince, Missing You. Yeah, you get the point! All of the dramas that he’s been in have become my favorites.

1. Jiro Wang

http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/jyh/309404814635844480_c0b76cd5_f.jpg
Popular dramas he's starred in: It Started with a Kiss, Hana Kimi, They Kiss Again, Absolute Boyfriend, Drama Go Go Go.
Popular Mmvies he's starred in: The Purple House

When Jiro Wang was in High School, he was a part of the Taiwanese rock band Dong Cheng Wei (earlier named Karma). In 2005, he started acting with his first role in the drama It Started with a Kiss. In 2005, he also joined the Taiwanese boy group Fahrenheit, under HIM Entertainment.

There are many good musicians turned actors in the world, but I hope many of you would agree with me if I said that Jiro is one of the best. I’ve never laughed as much as I did when I watched the Taiwanese version of Hana Kimi, and most of these laughs were because of him. This guy is surely talented. You can’t deny that! I wish I had the time to watch all of his dramas, and I’ll do that sometime in the future! (He’s reaaaaaally hot too, that’s absolutely worth pointing out kekeke).

This was only my opinion, please post a comment if you know anyone other than these :)
