Eun Hee

http://media.mydramalist.com/cache/7nh/351017236482801478_a1d96938_f.jpg

Kyung Soo Jin (Shark, That winter, The Wind Blows), Lee Jun (King Geunchogo, Chuno), Choi Yoon So (Warrior Baek Dong Soo, Lie to Me), and Jung Min Jin (Panda and Hedgehog) are cast in KBS2’s weekly drama, Eun Hee, starting June 24.  It is directed by Han Chul Kyung who also directed King Geunchogo and Everybody Cha Cha Cha.  The writers are Ahn Hong Ran and Lee Sang Min.

Eun Hee (Kyung Soo Jin) is shunned by people because her father is falsely accused of killing a man right before the Korean War.  Im Sung Jae (Lee Jun) is saved by a man who actually killed his father, but doesn’t know the truth so he actually treats him like his own father.  Choi Young Joo (Choi Yoon So) is the daughter of the real killer and is in love with Sung Jae.  Her jealousy of Eun Hee motivates her to try to break up their relationship.  Choi Jung Tae (Jung Min Jin) is also in love with Eun Hee, but accepts that she is in love with Sung Jae.

I’m not really into dramas that are over 100 episodes, but this does seem interesting.  I doubt I will watch it though.

Kim Jae Won (May Queen, Can You Hear My Heart) and Jo Yoon Hee (Nine: Nine Times Time Travel, Lie to Me)are the leads for MBC drama, Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident which will begin June 29 after A Hundred Year’s Inheritance.  The director is Kim Jin Man who also directed East of Eden and Ireland.  The writer is Bae Yoo Mi who also wrote Twinkle Twinkle (Best Screenplay for 2011 MBC Drama Awards) and Romance.  Kim Jin Man and Bae Yoo Mi also worked together on Funny Wild Girl and Love Truly. Jo Jae Hyun (I Need a Fairy, Syndrome), Shin Eun Kyung (Still You, Flames of Ambition), Park Sang Min (The Incarnation of Money, I Believed in Men), and Kim Hye Ri (War of the Roses, Auction House) are also cast in this drama.

Ha Eun Joong (Kim Jae Won) grows up to be a policeman and finds out that his father, Ha Myung Geun (Jo Jae Hyun) isn’t really his father, but a man that kidnapped him when he was young.  Myung Geun is a man that loses his son in a building collapse.  He finds out who is responsible and kidnaps that man’s son for revenge.  Eung Joong becomes involved with Woo Ah Mi (Jo Yoon Hee) who is a 26-year-old single mom while he tries to figure out his life.  Jang Tae Ha (Park Sang Min) is a hot-headed leader of a chaebol group (this is a villain role).  Yoon Hwa Yeong (Shin Eun Gyeong) is a rational, cool-headed lawyer and Tae Ha’s wife.

I’m totally watching this.  The story sounds good and I like Kim Jae Won and Jo Jae Hyun.  Plus, I love Park Sang Min as a villain.  It should be fun to watch him in action.

Empire of Gold

Go Soo (Will it Snow at Christmas?, Marrying A Millionaire), Lee Yo Won (Horse Doctor, 49 Days), and Son Hyun Joo (The Chaser, Take Care of Us, Captain) star in SBS drama, Empire of Gold, airing on July 1 after Jang Ok Jung.  This is Go Soo’s first drama in four years.  The director is Jo Nam Kook who also directed The Chaser and Definitely Neighbors.  The writer is Park Kyung Soo who also wrote The ChaserJang Shin Young (Thorn Flower, The Chaser), Ryu Seung Soo (Sirius, The Chaser), and Yoon Seung Ah (Panda and Hedgehog, All My Love) are also cast.

This drama will cover a 20 year period of time from 1990 to 2010 following the power struggle between three people for control of a chaebol empire.  Jang Tae Joo (Go Soo) is a hero that raises his little sister, Jang Hee Joo (Yoon Seung Ah) after their father dies.  He rises to the top on his wits alone.  He falls in love with Choi Seo Yoon (Lee Yo Won) who is the chaebol heiress and rival. Choi Min Jae (Son Hyun Joo)  is Choi Seo Yoon’s older brother and Jang Tae Joo’s chief rival.  Choi Min Jae is an unscrupulous first son that makes backdoor deals to get ahead.  Yoon Seo Shi (Jang Shin Young) is a woman who uses her looks to get insider information and sets up a consulting firm to sell that information.  She teams up with Jang Tae Joo against the Choi family.  Cha Pil Doo (Ryu Seung Soo) is the antagonist to Jang Tae Joo and Yoon Seo Shi who gains power while gathering dirty money.

Wow, so basically a lot of people from The Chaser have teamed up to make another drama.  I haven’t seen The Chaser, but I have heard it was really a great drama.  I’m not sure if I will watch this, because I’m not really interested in dramas where people fight for a chaebol company.

Knife and Flower

Uhm Tae Woong (Equator Man, The Devil)and Kim Ok Bin (Over My Dead Body, Money’s Warfare) to lead Knife and Flower which will air on KBS2 starting July 3 after Heaven’s Order.  This is Kim Ok Bin’s first drama in seven years.  The director is Kim Yong Soo who also directed Equator Man and White Christmas.  The writer is Kwon Min Soo who also wrote Mom is Pretty Too and Love Needs a Miracle.  Other cast includes Choi Min Soo (Happy Ending, Warrior Baek Dong Soo), Park So Jin (Flower Boy Next Door, Unexpected You), Lee Jung Shin (My Daughter Soyoung, Unexpected You), Goo Won (Cheongdamdong Alice, Fist of Legend), Lee Min Ho (The Great Seer, The Moon that Embraces the Sun), and Ohn Joo Wan (Twelve Men in a Year, My Love By My Side).

This is a historical drama set in the Goguryo period.   Yeon Choong (Uhm Tae Woong) and Moo Young (Kim Ok Bin) fall in love, but there is tragedy between them.  Yeon Choong is the son of the noble man that killed Moo Young’s father, King Young Ryu. Yeon Choong’s father, General Yeon Gaesomun (Choi Min Soo) orders Yeon Choong to kill Moo Young, but he refuses. Moo Young is torn between her love and revenge.  Mo Seol (Park Soo Jin) is also a love interest for Yeon Choong.  Jang (Ohn Joo Wan) is Moo Young’s cousin who betrays the royal family and is rewarded by becoming king.  Other royalty includes Kim Yeong Ryu’s son, the crown prince (Lee Min Ho).  Ho Tae (Goo Won) is General Yeon Gaesomun’s bodyguard while Si Woo (Lee Jung Shin) is Moo Young’s bodyguard.  *flower boy bodyguards*

Why oh why is Uhm Tae Woong in a historical drama? This is not my favorite genre, but I find myself watching more and more to see the actors/actresses that I want to watch.  This is no exception.  I will watch it for my love of Uhm Tae Woong.

Goddess of Marriage

Kim Ji Hoon (Flower Boy Next Door, Love Marriage), Nam Sang Mi (The Peach Tree, Lights and Shadows), and Lee Sang Woo (Horse Doctor, Feast of the Gods) star in SBS drama, Goddess of Marriage, which will begin airing on July 6 after Birth Secret.   The director is Oh Jin Suk who also directed Brilliant Legacy.  The writer is Jo Jung Sun.

Song Ji Hye (Nam Sang Mi) is a radio program writer that is naïve and confident.  She dreams of a soulmate, but worries that reality may not meet expectations.  She falls into a love triangle with Kang Tae Wook (Kim Ji Hoon) and Kim Hyun Woo (Lee Sang Woo).  There are other characters and love triangles as this drama will follow the lives of four women dealing with the question of what marriage means to them.

I absolutely love the actors in this drama.  I’m not really into romance genre, but I see myself watching this.  I haven’t see any projects of Nam Sang Mi.  Does anyone know if she is a good actress? (please let me know in the comments)

Who Are You?

So Yi Hyun (Cheongdamdong Alice, Glowing She) and Taecyeon (Dream High, Cinderella's Sister) star in tvN’s drama, Who Are You that will begin airing July 22 after Dating Agency: Cyrano.  The director is Lee Min Jin.  I couldn’t find any information on the writer.

Detective Yang Shi On (So Yi Hyun) is in a car accident and spends six years in a coma.  She loses her memory but acquires the ability to see spirits.  She convinces Detective Cha Gun Woo (Taecyeon) that she can see ghosts and together they help them using the items that were left behind in the lost and found center.  The two will become close through their shared experiences.

I adore So Yi Hyun so I will probably end up watching this.  Plus, I really like mystery genre mixed with paranormal.  I guess this years "time travel" dramas will be "paranormal" considering this drama and I Hear Your Voice and Master's Sun.
