"Queen of Tears" Close to Overtaking "Crash Landing on You"
According to Weekly Shonen Jump, a Gintama Live Action movie will be released in 2017 (instead of 2018 as had been rumored). It will star the popular actor Oguri Shun. This seems to be a fitting role for Shun, as he's a well experienced veteran in the Japanese film industry. In addition, his latest films Lupin III, Nobunaga Concerto: The Movie and Terra Formars have received very warm responses from both the audience and the critics.
Yuichi Fukuda (HK: Forbidden Super Hero The Abnormal Crisis,Yuusha Yoshihiko series, Mr. Nietzsche in the Convenience Store, Aoi Honoo) is going to be the director / scriptwriter.
A few words about Gintama :
Gintama is a highly well-known manga that has been serialised since 2004 and has already been adopted as an anime with several seasons, anime films and OVAs. The plot is about the samurai Sakata Gintoki, who lives in a non-samurai world alongside with invading aliens. He and his comrades, Kagura and Shinpachi, take up odd jobs that get them involved in hilarious adventures.
