Train to Busan: Film Review

Film Review: Train to Busan

This film is perfect for any fan of the Zombie genre! It's a thrilling, action-adventure that will have you captivated until the end.

Gong Yoo’s character, Seol Woo, is an overworked funds manager who is separated from his wife. He’s not as close as he should be with his young daughter due to always being away for work, so his character seems a little cold at first. As the story progresses, he begins to realize how important she is to him.

Train to Busan... is exactly that. Our character ensemble is en route for their own various reason when infected humans start a feeding frenzy on board. Zombie Alert!

Our main cast has to be quick on their toes to outsmart the zombies that are desperate to get to them.

As civilian extras are eliminated by zombies, we come to see who our key players for the story are.
And all deliver excellent performances that you could say is completely on point!

As expected of most Zombie genre action film/series, we do lose some of the team along the way.
It is sad as these characters who rose to the occasion fighting to survive, and saved those around them meet their demise.

Favourite character of the film (IMO) goes to Sang Hwa played by Ma Dong Seok.
He becomes a fantastic, kick-zombie-butt-and-zombie-face hero along the way!

Due to the horrific event of the virus outbreak which has affected much of the population, it’s not just the zombies who have ‘turned’. We see human after human turning on one other as they are pushed into dire situations.
Watching how twisted a person can become so he could survive can leave you baffled by human nature. It's also intriguing to see how inhumane people can become in a group setting if the wrong type of leader steps forward.

One guy (not pictured) literally threw people at zombies so that he could ensure his own survival. Ew, terrible, wicked human! In another scene, someone else sacrifices his own life for his beloved and for others!

I especially liked the danger elements that were worked in. Add the quick pacing of our heroes having to move forward from one train car to the next, and this film will keep you edge of your seat.

Train to Busan is a thrilling, fast and fun ride with an emotional ending that will touch your heart.
