Drama Recommendation: Love For a Thousand More

Who doesn’t need good, sound dating advice every now and then? How about advice from a thousand year-old immortal who has dated every kind of guy?!

Here we have a short 10 episode kdrama, recently completed and ready to binge.

Mi Jo played by Hwang Seung Eon, is an immortal. Though she has a young appearance, she has come to realize that all men are trash! Could there really be a pure hearted young man out there for her? She doesn’t seem to think so anymore! A man who would not falter by his own greed and desires for wealth, power, control?

She’s lived for a few centuries and has seen it all.

Just when she thinks she’s found the ‘one’... nope!

In the present day, she is a Love Counselor, selling advice, charms and instruction to those in need of direction in their love lives. Her advice is nearly always spot on!

One day, a new neighbor’s thunderous hip hop music blasts through her roof! Legitimately thinking war is upon her...again!  (hehe, due to her past experiences). This sassy girl confronts him head on, only to be greeted by an endearing hug from male lead Joon Woo played by Kang Seung Yoon.

This surprises her and leaves her to wonder if there is a past connection with him and what his real motives are.

She tries to be sneaky and follows him to observe his side job.

When he’s not blasting out hip hop above her, he masquerades as the cutest advertising mascot bear! To disguise herself and for a short but sweet dance off, she challenges him old school style (literally dance from an era ago) versus his current trendy moves.

He also seems to feel the connection between them but how can it be? When he met her, he was just a young boy. Now as a young man, this woman looks exactly the same.

Sometimes the immortal card can come off a little cheesy and maybe even disturbing. If you really think about it, immortal characters are usually thousand-year old grannies and grandpas who are getting paired up with extremely young non-immortal humans. Although the main reason why these relationships work in dramas is because the characters usually just act as young adults frozen in age, and stuck as real time passes them by. Whatever it may be, this theme is currently trending right now, as seen in Goblin and Behind Your Smile.

As the fine line of fantasy and ‘what if’ creatively comes into play and feeds the imagination.

Because this drama is such a short one, I don’t want to give too much away. ...Except that she has a cute and funny pet turtle who has likely been her sidekick for at least a hundred years.

So cute!

The drama is light hearted with some well timed comedic moments and enthusiastic expressions by our female lead. Her story enjoyably comes to life.
