5 Korean Dramas to Get Excited about in January

A new year is upon us, and that means lots of new dramas to choose from! Let's start the year off right and take a look at five dramas we have to look forward to in January:

Missing Nine

I'm most excited for this mystery island thriller starring Jung Kyung Ho and  Baek Jin Hee. It tells the story of a washed-up celebrity who gets stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash along with his stylist and seven other people in the entertainment industry. While fighting for survival, they have to face adversity and go on a journey of growth. This is a unique set-up for a drama and it sounds pretty intense!

Jang Hyuk is back in action in the crime thriller Voice along with his co-star,  Lee Ha Na. Voice is about a group of workers at a 112 emergency call center. After a serial killer kills their family members, they work together to catch the culprit. Nothing like a good serial killer mystery to keep things exciting!

I'm thrilled to see Ji Sung and  Yuri in this drama about a top prosecutor who one day wakes up in prison on death row with no memory of how he ended up there. The drama then follows his attempt to figure out what happened and get out of prison with the help of a public prosecutor.

Chief Kim

After all of those heavier dramas, you might be looking for something more fun. And Chief Kim sounds like the perfect answer! This workplace comedy stars Nam Goong Min and Nam Sang Mi and tells the story of a quirky middle manager in an office who stands up for the weak workers who have been held down by their company. We know how much fun Nam Goong Min can be when given the opportunity.

Sensitive Boss

And finally, we have Sensitive Boss which is a romantic comedy about a director (Yeon Woo Jin) of a top public relations agency. Everyone thinks he is cold and arrogant, but in reality, he is extremely shy and doesn’t even like to leave his house. As he begins to lose what’s important to him, he goes on an emotional journey to overcome his problems with the help of an energetic rookie employee (Park Hye Soo) at his company.

So there is plenty to choose from this January! I think all of these dramas sound interesting, but which ones are you looking forward to the most?

Ahh I can't wait for Nam Goong Min's drama because I'm such a fan of his, but I also am really excited to see Ji Sung back on the screen again! As for the others: the trailer for 'Missing Nine' leads me to think that they should've just made the series a special, rather than an actual 20-episode drama. 'Sensitive Boss' could be legit, I just don't know enough about it to say one way or the other. My motivation for watching that would be to see Park Hye Soo nail a character that is different from the one portrayed on her 2016 drama, 'Age of Youth'.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Jung Kyung Ho again. I can't wait for his 'Missing Nine'.

I'm also excited for 'Voice'. Jang Hyuk and Yesung. For an idol with limited acting experience, Yesung's very promising.

'Sensitive Boss' also sounds like a lot of fun.
