Problems with Notification Alerts

In recent hours I've received 5 notifications but when I click on the bell only notifications from 1-2 days ago are visible. This time I made sure to restart my computer to ensure Chrome was up to date. I also accessed the site with Explorer, Safari and Firefox, but still had the same issue. I'm notified of comments but can't see them. What am I doing wrong?
