editSynopsis

Kai Yuuki (Satoshi Tsumabuki) is in his senior year at university studying social welfare psychology. At present, he is in the middle of job-hunting season. He is finding it difficult with no job offers so far. One day, he meets a girl who is playing violin in the campus. She is Sae Hagio (Kou Shibasaki). In marked contrast to her beautiful tone and attractive looks, her personality is somewhat impertinent. And to top it off, she communicates through very vulgar sign language. Four years ago, she lost the most important thing for a violinist - her hearing. As a result Sae closed off her inner self from the outside world. Kai finds himself on a date with Sae, in place of his best friend. Unexpectedly, he comes into contact with Sae's private side. Love, job-hunting, friendship... Setting a campus in spring as a dorama's backdrop, it's the start of a glittering youth drama. --TBS

This drama already had a very good review, one that doesn't need to be expanded.

The reason why I write one is because I loved this show and wish to share the joy, so to speak.

I believe the best trait of this drama is in its script. Eriko Kitagawa - the screenwriter - does not disappoint.

It's a collection of memorable, beautiful quotes, whether about love, friendship, dreams or fears for the future. They make you pause and think.

And the screentime given to this disparate group of friends can really make your day, so universal it is in the world of friendship, be it in Japan, America, Europe or elsewhere. Change the names and perhaps the face

Orange Days is a throwback from 2004, but don't let that put you off if you haven't seen it yet. This gem of a story is timeless and universal. Even if you watch it 10 years from now it'll still have meaning. Watching this show induced a strong sense of nostalgia in me. We all know what it’s like to be young and uncertain about our place in this big scary world. And for me, it wasn't so long ago that I faced the exact same crossroads as the characters did.

The show gives us a peek into the lives of 5 friends, all college students on the cusp of becoming contributing citizens to society. Some have dreams they want to pursue, some have dreams they've

I really really liked this drama and I loved little brat Sae the most.
Kai, always so nice and supportive. Lucky Sae! :)
Nice, warm and cute drama. Great acting from Tsumabuki Satoshi and Shibasaki Kou.

I have to admit that Sae was a little (read "a lot" lol) self centered and it was always kind of me me me but the way it was portrayed and played by the actress made it easily understable and easy to sympathise with her (knowing her hearing problems), but that didn't stop me from loving her :P

This drama was missing from my 'Japanese classics' list and I am so glad I finally watched it. The main quality that it has is that it is warm and uplifting like many other Jdramas. The story enhances the values of friendship and mutual support and I also appreciated how the feeling of uncertainty which is typical of those going through University years was portrayed. I appreciated the very good acting of all the cast and the great OST and I think it fully deserves its high ratings.

Good drama, but while watching it I've become more interested in seeing Shohei-Akane together more than the lead roles Kai-Sae. lol

Gonna watch this. Weird though, the first thing that came to my mind after reading the title "Orange Days", is Jeremiah of the anime Code Geass, the one's being called orange. Haha

I dont know why. but this drama will always have a special place in my heart. My girlfriend recommended it to me. I guess it reminds me of the struggles her and I went through since we are both so different.

The first drama I ever watched. It will always have a very special place in my heart because of that, but also because it's absolutely extraoridnary. A must-watch!
