This is the drama I was waiting for all spring long. During those 11 weeks, every Friday I was eagerly waiting for the next episode. You, who still haven’t watched it, will have the chance to watch it all in one day (and you will be tempted to). There is a reason why this drama got the Best Drama Award (Television Drama Academy).

Don’t expect a fairy tale. Don’t expect a boring sad story full of fake tears and violins. Don’t expect any average acting. This drama is telling us the story of people you can identify with. This is a story that could easily be true. There isn’t one character that doesn’t fit, not one "black sheep" actor. The dialogues are written as if in

It’s kind of hard for me to write a review for Soredemo – I’ve watched this drama about a month ago and wanted to write one since the moment I finished it, but every time I try to actually start writing I can only think about those corny sayings like “story about forgiveness and redemption”, “tragedy of two families” or “great study of human nature”. I don’t like all those cliché, empty words, so I tried and tried, and tried, and then tried some more to write something that could actually describe this drama and to not sound overly banal at the same time, but still, nothing satisfying could come up to me. But then I though “why not use them if they describe this drama read more

  • They are beautiful. You will find in both the excellent actors Eita and Mitsushima Hikari. In both, the dialogues are meaningful, and well-written. They will both make you cry. They will both make you smile. They are both well directed. Hara-Kiri is in 2011 Cannes' Festival competition.

Oh My God! Words cannot express how amazing this drama is in every way. There were so many times I could hardly breathe from all the emotions I was feeling all at once. It was beautiful, sad, complicated and yet so simple. Just amazing. Thank you to whoever wrote and made this true masterpiece of drama.

This would have been a masterpiece of a drama for me but the ending ruined it for me, I so didn't like the ending. They needed to wake Yuri's mother up so both Fukami and Toyama could get married and live their lives together, most sad and terrible ending in my most humble opinion. Especially since his mother gave her blessing to Toyama. So not happy with the ending...

I don't know where to start with this drama, I'm speechless, you don't see dramas like this often, it is hard to describe, at times I found myself holding my breath because it can be very powerfull, you actually feel what the characters are feeling. It really is one of those dramas that leave an impact on you. And like the comments below say an unbelievable performance by all the actors... a masterpiece indeed

A Drama offering this much depth, faith and hope comes only ever so often.. This is a gem of a drama and a gem of a cast. A rare drama which doessn't put one side on trial and glorifies another. Oh no. It suspends judgmentality and shows, instead, understanding. The strength the leads in particular demonstrate is very hopeful.

The drama just has a very deeply human streak that moves you to think about things. Acting's phenomenal. OST is haunting. It's just one of those rare dramas that leave a lasting impression in your heart. And one of the rare dramas that deserve an easy 10. I loved that the ending didn't dumb the drama down.

Thank you for posting this drama recommendation. Because of that, I was able to watch it elsewhere.Because of "Soredemo, Ikite Yuku", I was able to pull out of a unpleasant place in my thoughts. Watching this reminded me of when ever I think my situation is bad, that I should put my foot in some else shoes and wear them a while and I felt that this drama did that for me.The extraordinary thing about this drama is that it tells a tell that so many of us are familiar with or at least relate in someway. I felt that this drama has brought a way to connect all human beings together. So many times we dwell on differences of skin color, culture, socio economic status, gender even, but this drama allows to see the many similarities that the human race has in common. This has really touched my heart as will touch many more. Watch this drama, then take sometime to reflect on where you are in life.

Does anyone know who's the singer of the opening song? I'm pretty sure it's Oda something-something but I can't remember...
    • Sandrose Feb 12, 2014
Well you probably found the answer out by now, but..yes. You're right it's an Oda :D Oda Kazumasa. The Song is called Tokyo no Sora.

One of the best, if not the best, dramas I've seen. The story is very painful but the end and the outlook is full of hope and brightness. It will remind you of how beautiful kindness and forgiveness is. As a viewer, watching this drama, you will hurt, cry, feel despair, but you will also slowly heal with the characters. It is just so beautiful! You will often feel speechless. I'm glad that I watched it :) <3

How beautiful ! It's one of these few dramas you're sure you'll never forget because it has an impact... a REAL impact. It's never "too much", too sad too teary, it's JUST, just what is has to be. The acting is perfect.
