editSynopsis

Based on the hit comic book by Tomoko Ninomiya, this is a fun-filled quirky romantic story of two very opposite people. Megumi Noda, or "Nodame" is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist who wants to be a kindergarten teacher, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. She is messy and disorganized, takes baths several days apart and loves to eat, sometimes stealing her friend's lunchbox when it is filled with delicacies. Shinichi Chiaki, is Momogaoka's top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, he feels mired in Japan because of a childhood phobia. They meet by accident. Nodame quickly falls in love, but it takes much longer for Chiaki to even begin to appreciate Nodame's unusual qualities. Their relationship causes them both to develop and grow. Because of Nodame, Chiaki got the opportunity to lead a student orchestra and begins to have a broader appreciation of people's musical abilities. Because of Chiaki, Nodame faces her fears and enters a piano competition. Opportunities open up as both begin taking risks, stretching themselves far more than they ever thought possible.

This was the first Japanese drama I've ever watched and I still find it difficult to find another that compares. Whether you are a musical person or not, this drama will definitely find some way to lure you into the musical world.
First things first. The music: Absolutely amazing. I love the way they make the music the epicenter of everything in this drama. Sure, it has a cast of wacky characters, but when it comes to the music, everything else just goes to the background. You forget the silliness and instead get lost in the musical atmosphere.
Secondly, character-wise I think Nodame is by far the cutest most silly and lovable female leads of all time. Chiaki, is just an absolute stud in this and

I've given it the highest score in everything, because it's my most favorite story ever. Being a big lover of classical music and always charmed by world of musicians I really couldn't ask for anything better. The acting is outstanding, not only the leads, but also the supporting characters are all very lively and unique. Some of them may feel a little bit overdone, especially foreigners played by Japanese actors, but they will make roll with laughter. Takenaka Naoto as Franz Strezemann was just epic. Apart from all the enjoyable silliness, the drama, at least in my opinion, was very touching at times, especially the follow-up story in specials and movies. That's why I highly recommend to watch it all.Even my husband, who usually don't care read more

  • Both stories are about a ditzy girl falling head over heels for a tsundre guy, then following him around till he looks at them. Both have a comedic take on things, but i liked Nodame better ;)

  • Both these dramas involve music and the creation of a band.

I love the anime so much but this one got my heart as well! Well-developed plot and characters from beginning to end (incl Sp, Final Score I and II.). Chiaki-Nodame tandem was superb..and very cute couple! Amazing music and adorable supporting casts.. Recommended watch for those who love the anime. :)

It seems boring at first but once I got used to the quirky pace/acting I really got sucked into it. XD
But then again, maybe the theme of classical music isn't for everyone.

I watched this because of everyone raving about it.. but wow I don't see what the appeal is.. that Stresemann guy is also beyond annoying

I loved this so much!!! I watched the first episode a long time ago, but never continued. I'm SO GLAD I decided to give it another chance! Once I got started again, I couldn't stop! This is definately one of my favorite J-dramas now! If you watched and loved Beethoven Virus, you will DEFINATELY love this!!! I was just a little disappointed that there wasn't more romance, but I will watch the anime now, so it's no big deal. Seriously! Watch this!!! You're wasting your time if you don't >_< <3

I really enjoyed this one. I just rewatched it twice in a row!! the characters were so quirky. I really found this one fun to watch. Music was fabulous and it all served to create a very entertaining mix. the leads were interestingly quirky and they grew to be so endearing! I found it to be a very endearing drama all in all. The most important thing- the progression of characters is so awesomely tangible. When the final film ends, you just feel how different they are. I really love this series. I am NOT a fan of Ueno Juri, as I find her underwhelming as an actress, but here I find her to be just so insanely likeable.
