Okay, let's see. What can i say of this movie?
It is cute all over, it doesn't bore you, it doesn't make you skip any parts, it enters your heart, grows inside and leaves happily.
I am neutral about the music, there was a german song in the beginning, it was quite fun to watch Daikichi's fantasy and the music fitted it but other than that one song i don't really remember others, means they don't really stand out.
the story is nice, i love Daikichi and Rin's relationship. they do no cuddling, no "i love you so much daddy" but you just feel the love. It is the success of both the story and the actors.
so if you want to have a change of

Usagi Drop it's the heartwarming story of the trials and rewards Daikichi, a 30 year old single man, faces when he, against his family's wishes, decides to raise a 6 year old girl named Rin, whois his late grandfather's illegitimate daughter.

I had watched anime last year and when I found out about the movie I couldn't wait. I had fallen in love with the story and how they go about it. The movie is not fast paced since the story itself isn't. It is somewhat slow, but the almost two hours went by fairly fast all the same.

The two main actors, Matsuyama Kenichi and Ashida Mana, do such a great job acting that even without obvious caring words, they pull off showing how much

  • They are both about young guys who are trussed into parenthood. In Usagi Drop the main character decides to take in his very young aunt and in Baby & Me the main character finds out he has a son and must take care of him. Even though the stories are not exactly the same, they do have a similar feeling. Both guys are forced to change their lives to accommodate a child which they grow to love.

  • Both series are about a single man bringing who suddenly ''decides'' to bring up a young girl. Though the girl in My Girl is the man's own child, the girl in Usagi Drop is the man's niece. Both are also about combining single-parenting and work. Also both are great! :)

Really hope they don't make a sequel to this movie, I could cope with what happens in the manga but don't wish to see that adapted.

It was good but it could have been better. I'm assuming the anime and/or manga was better since it would have had more time for character development. Almost everything thing that took place felt like it was rushed, or at least I kept thinking, "where did this bond come from, I need more story." But the actors did a good job and the girl was a cutie pie.

Very cute movie, but the end is a little bit bungled. The Anime is better.

It was a good movie on its own but fell a little flat compared to the anime. The personalities of the characters were completely different, as well as bits of the plot (which is understandable considering this is a movie and not a drama). However, I am still not sure why they had to turn Kouki's mother into a model.

Cute but not as cute as the anime (sorry, I can't help but compare them). And, sorry again if this upsets anyone, but, I felt Kenichi wasn't really the right person to be playing Dakichi...

I think that way about most of the characters. Their personalities in the anime were completely different.

Does Ashida mana seiyu/VA or the anime Rin? They have the same voice, if my recognition serves me correct.
  • SuperShark Jul 27, 2012
Great movie. Matsuyama Kenichi equals quality every time. And Ashida Mana is one of those prodigy actors.

    Very heartwarming!
