editSynopsis

Directed by Hagishima Tatsuya, Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai (a.k.a. Calling You) is based on the same-titled light novel series by popular writer Otsuichi. Like Otsuichi's Waiting in the Dark, which was also recently adapted for the big screen, Kimi ni Shika Kikoenai revolves around two lonely young people who find each other in an uncommon manner. Shy, quiet, and unsure of herself, Aihara Ryo doesn't quite fit in anywhere. Though she wants to make friends, she has trouble speaking up and holding a normal conversation like everyone else. It seems that whenever she talks, the words just don't come out correctly. Gradually, Ryo has gotten used to living life in silence as a lonely and introverted student. With no one to talk to, Ryo also has no need for a cell phone. Longing for friends to talk to, she creates a cell phone in her mind for imaginary phone conversations, and much to her surprise, one day Shinya picks up on the other side. For the first time in her life, Ryo has found someone she can talk to.

This is an major romance flick. I'm not a big romance fan, but this film was so good. I'm not sure how to review it without giving anything away, but the story and acting are perfect.

you may find it somewhat the same concept from some other movies, but this movie has different taste that surely makes them different from others! if you wanna know what it is, better watch it! I recommend it to watch it until the end. :)
Be sure to don't regret something! Say it already before it's too late.

[Tokyo Girl spoiler] The two movies were way too similar for me...-_- Is there a reason why they had so many common themes/scenarios?

I was really impressed by how beautifully this movie has been made. The idea of the story is wonderful and I liked the acting so much. Especially Shinya made my heart melt^^
BUT: I would have been soooo much more satisfied if the ending wouldn´t become so sad. It would have been so nice if they meet, become a couple and the film would show, how their relationship develops. Arrgghh, to be honest, I got quite upset and disappointed, when the tragedy happened .. why such a sad ending? It could have ended so perfectly T__T
*sigh*, but nevertheless, this movie is highly recommended.

MARK IT AS TRAGEDY. I TOTALLY EXPECTED THE ENDING BUT I THOUGHT I WAS SAFE CUZ THERE WASN'T A TRAGEDY TAG.

Thank you! You just saved 1 hour 47 minutes of my life n_n I can't stand those kind of endings. If the drama/movie ends bad, I feel I just feel I wasted my time no matter how good it was :P

Even if sometimes it's like a bit of a cliché (can't say too much since I don't wish to tell the story), it still is a good movie to watch. Don't know why but this kind of movies make me always go teary. must be age
