The story follows a brain surgeon named, Minakata Jin, who has spent the last two years in anguish, as his fiancee lies in a vegetative state after an operation he performed. One day, he faints at the hospital and awakens to find himself transported back in time to the Edo period. He is soon attacked by a samurai, but he escapes with the help of a man named Kyotaro. Kyotaro suffers a serious injury to the head while trying to protect him, but Jin manages to save his life despite a lack of proper medical equipment. Because of that, Kyotaro's sister Saki begins taking an interest in Jin and becomes his assistant. Meanwhile, Jin is determined to find a way back to the present. --Tokyograph

JIN has many genres wrapped in a single package. The show has its viewers exploring the history of the Edo period. It also manages to keep the viewers anticipated with its combination of suspense and mystery. All with a hint of romance. However, its primary focus is medicine at the end of the day. The cast is a truly remarkable bunch giving his or her character a realistic feature which enables viewers to connect with the characters. We get a glimpse into each character's stories, struggles, and ongoing hardships. The show's plot is a rather simple one, but its simplicity adds to the show's depth. It explores various themes including the meaning of life, how much we are willing to sacrifice for others, and most important, read more

Upon finishing the first episode of this drama I would not have been able to predict that I would be reviewing it with such a critical eye; once those end credits rolled I proclaimed, 'Wow, this one just might be the one'. I had that feeling, that I was at the beginning of something magical, starting 'a favourite'.
Now, my experience with dramas that I've rated really highly overall usually follows the pattern of being drawn in, context being established over a few average episodes and then by the fifth or sixth finding myself completely engrossed in the drama... usually ending on an emotional high, my face full of tears and the memory of what I've just watched poignantly lingering in my mind for days, sometimes

  • what can i say, it's a remake, other then the fact one is Japanese and the other being Korean, everything else is really similar. If you like one, you'll like the other!

I was very impressed with this drama. The story is fascinating, delicate, moving and absorbing and I never expected this from a historical drama and I was so pleasantly surprised. It is the first time that I see Osawa Takao and I found his acting brilliant and convincing so I will surely watch the sequel Jin 2. I highly recommend it but warn those with a delicate stomach that there are some quite explicit medical scenes in this drama.

I'M Freakin loving this drama the pacing is on point I'm a huge fan of Ayase ! the acting in this drama is very good I tried to watch the Korean version of this first because it had male actors I am fans of but the first episode was too slow for me.This drama first episode however is a happy medium between slow and fast I'm looking forward to finishing it!

JIN offered such an original and fascinating story that is hard not to simply love this drama. Also, the acting is top notch, loved every single character, something which happens very rarely.

Rarely does a drama take all the awards in the television academy awards, this one took away them practically all of them in the 63rd Television Academy Awards.. Just the actress award went to the actress in Shokojo Seria and except for Special Award, which went to Tenchijin. All other major categories went to JIN. wow.

Looks very interesting, though the..controviance to achieve the time travel looks weird (I started watching just now), but it's a promising drama.
