Tsuki No Koibito is the perfect example of a stellar cast totally wasted on a non-existent plot.
I watched it as soon as it finished airing, attracted by one of the best actors assembly I had come across in a long time. And true to their skills, they do an amazing job, given the luke-warm, inconsistent, shallow story they had to work with.
I understood none of the characters. Are they ambitious, serious, romantic, evil, malicious? No idea. They are all a mixture of those. Yes, in real life people are never clear-cut, but instead of coming out as imperfect human beings one can identify with, these characters appear like badly assembled patchwork quilts, behaving in a way one episode, the opposite way in the next.

So at the start of this drama, I definitely thought it was going to be a decent watch, even though it contains much of the drama cliches we all know. The starting pair Ren and Xui Mei have very good chemistry together and injected some of the flavor into the story, (or lack of it). However, I suppose my biggest problem is the the sudden switch of pairings halfway through the drama to Ren and Maemi. I am not complaining because the OTP was changed, but the fact that I saw no inkling of a "romantic" relationship starting between them. Yes, I understand that the actor who plays Maemi (in my opinion is better), but it would have made more sense to let Ren show more read more

I first noticed the title on someone's list and thought it was potentially interesting. When I looked at the cast list, I was thinking: "Huh? Why have I never heard about this one? It looks like it should be fairly popular!" The synopsis isn't very helpful. Then I read the reviews and comments... and I guess I get it now.

This drama feels like its script was cut in pieces, half pieces got thrown away and from what remained somebody tried clue whole thing.you can see it even mirroring from actors, how confused they are, how they dont know what to do and how hide cracks. They do good job within thous limitations.
I have feeling that this original script was good story. Sadly this drama now is like list of questions without answers. I hope some day somebody is doing remake but this time uses original script...
