I watched this show mainly because I am a Shida Mirai fan. But this drama disappointed me. The relationship between Shida Mirai and the father of her baby, played by Miura Haruma seemed too flat and fake. What exactly was the emotional connection that these two had so that they would have sex? And Shida Mirai as a pregnant teenager was weird. She looks like she is 10 years old even though she is supposed to be 14.

The only worthwhile performances were from Tanaka Misako as the all bearing and brave mother. > Also, kudos to the actress who played Miura's mother. She was an interesting character.

But the drama does bring up some interesting issues and it seems quite anti-abortion.

    The drama would have

The drama is neither happy nor sad, but it is full of reflection. The 14 years old girl in pregnant... It sounds terribly. Miki gave a baby, though everyone has objection. I see her future in black colors, but who knows... I admit she had exceptional parents, who could accept that choice. Especially mother. An oasis of calm. It was very unrealistic, but finally - it's fiction.

In Japan, at least the abortion isn't forbidden, so there always exists a rescue answear this situtation. Maybe it's not easy, but there is always better to have a choice.

  • Both tells a story about hard situations in teenager girl's life. On other she becomes pregnant at the age of 14 and on the other she contacts HIV.

  • Both handles a story about giving birth. In 14 sai no haha it's teenage girl giving birth and in Umareru it's +50 year old mother giving birth. Both dramas are really good.

One of the best jdramas I've had the pleasure of watching. I loved the effort to tackle such a sensitive subject - teenage motherhood. This drama made me a fan of both Mirai and Miura. It was the first thing I saw them in and their acting was great. I highly suggest giving this one a try.

Now that both Mirai and Miura are older they really need to make a SP at least about what happened. I love this drama, and have re-watched it lots of times <3

Having dealt with teenage pregnancy myself, I found this drama very compelling and somewhat true to the experiences Miki had to made - within the circle of her friends, within her school, within the family and yes, even within society, even though there were some exaggerations here there for a more dramatic effect.
I would recommend this drama to everybody. The story about the baby's father and his mother constantly butting in can be a little over the top sometimes, too, yes, but all in all it's a story about an underage soon-to-be mother who brings up the courage to deliver and raise her child, no matter what. In my opinion, it's a drama about the bravery motherhood often takes and it therefore touched me, like only a few dramas could, so far.

Im not sure how I feel about this drama. The acting was pretty good. Soundtrack was amazing. And I liked the whole teenage pregnancy thing but as a drama im not sure if I would recommend it to other people. Its its an okay drama. Not bad in any way just not great either.

I was disappointed that it took the last episode for Satoshi to somewhat redeem himself, and I agree with HAVA-RAVA, the second season may just do that.

I loved this drama!! After reading the reviews, I was skeptical but was glad I watched this. I disagree about the realism though, there was enough here to keep a hardcore person like me interested.

I'd like to see a second season / SP for this great drama. The plot would be how Miki (Shiida Mirai) has lived so far with her kid and something.
