If you are very, very into politics than you'll like Dae Mul. If you are not, you may not like it. But I liked it a lot and felt it was a pretty good drama. It had a well thought out story with a solid trajectory that shows the progression of a woman who goes from wanna-be reporter/housewife to the President of The Republic of Korea. I found it had enough drama and included enough comic relief to keep me interested and entertained. The politics are mostly believable. There is a healthy dose of political intrigue and sometimes fascinating machinations of politicians both corrupt and hmmm...only slightly corrupt. Along with the politics, there is a background friendship and long standing love that is lovely and sweet. read more

The very reason why I watched this drama merely because of curiosity. It's kinda controversial in Korea so it really got my interest. The fact that it has a really different story to what is usual to kdramas is a plus. Then, when I started watching it, fair enough. It's more of an educational drama for me. It made me understood better how politics go in Korea. If you are the type of person with so much interest in politics then this fits to you really well..but if not, I'll still recommend this drama specially to women. Why? just watch and learn.

  • Both have a female politician,in CH it’s a town mayor.Politics in CityHall is more shallow than in DM, it’s more a contrivance for romance to develop in the context of political ambition.CH’s more about personal growth and sentiments, while DM focuses more on realization of political dream

  • even if their context is different, both dramas deal with ordinary people who are led to run for presidency to change society ; both are great political dramas, with a very realistic approach of politics.

Honestly, this drama has more to it than just politics: it is about a strong female, it is about HaDoYa and his struggles, and he has a great relationshiop with that crazy boss of his, it has a nice touch of friendship-romance to it. Yes, there are a lot of political games and campaigns in here inasmuch as the main girl has to manouver her way through it and this is done well! Politics is a harsh world with hard rules, I thought it was pretty well rendered in this particular drama. Koreans seem to have received it very well, it was very well awarded and had ratings of 23%, constantly taking 1st place in viewership ratings. It's an excellent drama! Moreover, it's Ko Hyung Jung in the lead role, she is always worth seeing. And politics often provides the best dramatic situations. Severly underrated on MDL- I'm not surprised.
