  • Both stories deal with childhood sweethearts who are separated due to various circumstances then brought back together only to have to deal with all those around them trying to keep them apart and things like illnesses and such. They have a lot of similar scenes, themes, and tone. If you like one you're bound to like the other.

  • Both are tragic love stories and very melodramatic... TPM is a historical and a bit political drama and STH is a love story of childhood sweethearts but they both have their share of betrayal and jealousy... In TPM the girl does everything she can for the man she loves while in STH the man does everything he can for the woman he loves... BOTH ARE MASTERPIECES

  • The two series are alike when it comes to the relationships between the family members. In both the girl has to suffer the bulling from her step-mother and step-sister. Also both girls seem to like the same man.

  • Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan play the young version of the characters in Stairway to Heaven, but play the main characters in in Tree of Heaven. Both have a somewhat similar theme, but in Tree of Heaven the love between step siblings is requited. If you like Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan as a couple then give Tree of Heaven a try.
