when you watch this show.. whatever you do.. Do NOT COMPARE! this way its more enjoyable to watch. even i know its long, however think about it princess pearl 1 2 & 3 in one set.. it kinda have its own style to it.. i recommended to you as long you don't compare to the old ones. When I watched this show, i know i was going to hate, i was like everyone else comparing this show from the original cast. then as couple episode comes around it kinda gave more to it. even though its a remake, it still its own story and create its own originality.

This is a melodrama which oten relies on some annoing cliches or anachronisms just to create more drama and/or generate space for love scenes...there are many damsels in distress and chivarlous gentlemen to their rescue...it also has some inexplicable loose ens and continuity errors, which I find annoyinhg It is a good version of the story, however and I wa just in the mood for a cliched melodrama lol with ditzy heroine who always gets into trouble. It has given me three characters I really like: Benjamin, Qing Er and Xiao Jian- I really like Qing Er and Xiao Jian...as for the rest, they are passabvle, well except for the Emperor who is well portrayed...overall I am glad to see this remake...approach it with open mind, I think it's a likeable version...despite its many faults that have nothing to do with casting, casting does a nice job overall...

  just expect, cliched situations and misunderstandings, lots of crying, lots of melodrama and lots of obstacles for the sake of romance...there are plenty romantic cliches throwon in- sentimental violin playing, sighing, letter wtiting, wistful glances, romance made difficult by bonds of duty etc.. but if you like this sort of typical sentimental romance fare, then this story is like a long romance novel featuring lots of love, and adventuring, so I say it passes as a romance, despite continuity errors and some REALLY over the top moments. And as i say i loved the three characters Qing Er, Xiao Jian and Benjamin.

I actually liked the Zi Wei and Fu Er Kang pairing in this one. Whereas in the Princess Pearl version i liked Xiao Yan Zi and Yong Qi pairing more.

  it;s worth it...I hope. It's like 3 seasons packed into one. I am actually happy that it was remade, though Alec Su will remain my favourite YQ
