This drama tells the story of Jang Hee Bin, one of the most famous royal concubines in the Joseon Dynasty who was behind the deposition of King Sook Jong’s wife, Queen In Hyun. However, unlike the countless dramas and movies about this famous villain, this drama will tell the story of Jang Ok Jung before she became concubine Jang Hee Bin and focus on her role as a fashion designer and cosmetic maker in the Joseon era.

    I love the way it began, the designing and everything, the way they portrayed power. This drama had conniving b*****es, at some point I didn't know who to side with, I love the evil scheming! And fake smiling between the queens, the rivalry on top of that the way the king talked, he reminded me of Horatio Cane and chuck bus, you know the way they talk like they have 25 hrs a day. It had good music the acting was great, as for the re-watchable part I give it 7. Why you ask? The sad ending makes it hard to re-watch. Expect for prince dongpyung lol, I loved it

    I don't really know where to begin with this drama review, but here goes. I am not a big fan of historical drama, yet I can't seem to complain about this one. The story begins in the most appropriate manner, with not to many odd junctions, or confusing climax. The very personality of Ok Jung is fill with hope and the King is seen to truly love her only. However this drama may not depict what was written in history it did a great job of filling in the "what if" questions. Plus the actors did a fantastic job at portraying the deep and agonizing emotions each character could have felt at every decision. The music help in veering from one emotional scene to the other; read more

  • This drama is mainly focused on Choi Suk Bin, but it potrays Jang Ok Jung too, but as the villain here

  • I feel that in both dramas the kings have the same nature. Also, in Jang Ok Jung the king falls for a palace maid whereas in Moon embracing the sun, the king falls for a shaman (both of a low class). Both love stories begin during childhood.

    In my opinion the lower score is caused because of the intricated plot. It was really hard to watch, but I'm so glad I watched it. The Love between His Majesty and Ok Jung is immortal. Very important: The cast was flawless. 100% acting skills.

    I dont buy the whole great one true love between King & JOJ otherwise why would he go on to have kid with Choi Suk Won (who is the one who renounced his beloved)
    Also he wouldnt have ordered her to die in first place. He could have given up his throne but he didnt want to lose his power.
    He strikes me as a bit of power mad lothario like Henry VIII & JOJ couldnt have been that nice as portrayed in this drama, Im sure she was way more vicious & conniving. I wish I could go back on time & see the real story.

    i already knew what was coming because of history and i don't cry because of dramas easily...but oh man. before i knew it, at the end the tears were falling. this drama was so well done. there were a few places where i thought it started to drag, but it made up for it. overall most of the actors did very well but i think Yoo Ah In especially needs an award for this because he was brilliant. UGH SO MANY FEELINGSS ;__;

    Even though the drama was extremely sad, the actors did a fab job, especially Kim Tae Hee and Yoo Ah In. I hope they get awards for their portrayals :)

    This drama should have a happy ending T_T! Having Ok Jung die because of a crime she didn't committed :'(! The maid Choi is such a ***** she's so evil!!! i wish Ok Jung had to live a happy life with her family..
    But don't let the ending stop you from watching this drama! It was worth it <3. The cast justified the drama, they're amazing!!!
